The Rolls-Royce pulled up to Yara Park, where the Denz family resided in Hatchbay.

The car stopped in the middle of the red carpet rolled out at the front entrance. In the middle was Dean Denz, my second brother. He opened the car door for me and greeted me.

"Welcome home, Princess!"

I was standing tall under the lights at the mansion. I had taken off my sneakers and dressed up in stilettos beforehand inside the car. Getting out of the car, I was a proud queen.

"How have you been, Dean?"

"I'm fine, but I feel much better now that you're here! Are the fireworks nice? My birthday gift to you has gone viral on the internet!" Dean's handsome face was filled with excitement.

"Yeah, I saw it. They say that you're a filthy rich bastard trying to win someone's heart. That's quite an achievement, isn't it?" I clapped my hands and smiled broadly at Dean.

Dean ignored my joking and hugged me close.

"Dera, you won't escape again, okay?"

"Where can I go now that I'm divorced?"

I patted the back of my second brother and sighed in relief. "Well, I've let everyone down. I figured I could make him love me if I tried my best at this marriage. But I failed miserably."

Only God knew just how devastated I felt at that time. I wished to cry, but I held myself back.

I promised that I would never cry again for Kalus after I departed from Tideview Manor because he was not worth it.

"That son of a gun! How could he cheat my sister?! I'll start a real investigation on Mike Corporation tomorrow and make your fourth brother murder Kalus when he is free!"

As Frank overheard that, he lowered his eyelids and said, "Amen."

"Dean, don't make trouble! You're a public prosecutor!" I chuckled dryly. "Can you be a bit more 'peace and love' like Frank?"

"God damn it! Your older brother turned into a saint only after he stopped being a mobster!" Dean pulled at his tie in annoyance. "Anyway, I am not going to let this go! I am not going to let Kalus bother my sister. The Mikes are now my target."

I took Frank and Dean's hands as I walked into the house I hadn't seen in years.

When the chairman of Zz Group, Wyatt Denz, heard that his daughter was back home, he could not help but be overjoyed and paced up and down in the study restlessly.

"Wyatt, I'm back!"

I walked into the study with my two brothers. I no longer had to pretend to be demure, as when I stayed with the Mikes. Now, I simply reclined on the sofa, lifted my legs, and kicked off my stiletto heels.

Frank sat next to me and started giving his sister a foot massage.

"Sit like a human being. Did you go join Doctors Without Borders or the terrorists?"

Wyatt went out of his way to stay serious. He was always at odds with me. He would miss me when I was gone, but if I was home, he would always get upset.

"Do you have Alzheimer's symptoms? I used to sit like this all the time!"

I opened my eyes and looked at the wall. My heart trembled as I saw the "poem" I penned more than ten years ago on the wall.

To my surprise, my dad really framed it.

The first line of the poem was: Were you trying to copy Henry VIII with all your wives?

The second line was:

Here's hoping that your heart doesn't go into overdrive!

The final line was:

One day, you'll pay your penance.

This was the wedding "gift" I gave my father when he wed for the third time.

Wyatt Denz had four wives, which had become the town gossip.

I did not like my father's polygyny and so I went abroad and worked with Doctors Without Borders to serve the world in my own capacity.

"Three years of living in the wilderness and the first thing you can manage to do is curse me to have Alzheimer's. How thoughtful of you!" Wyatt raged.

"Thank you for the compliment, Daddy!" I pretended not to know what Wyatt was being sarcastic about and smiled harmlessly at him.

"Dad, now that Dera has come back, some things must be done in a hurry." Frank put on my shoes and said solemnly, "I quit being the CEO of Zz Group from Dera's hands."

I glared and gazed at the dashing side face of my elder brother.

"You!" Wyatt was so angry that he did not know what to say for a moment.

"I only promised to run Zz Group for 3 years. Now that the three-year term has passed, I'm going back to church. As you know, the job of being a CEO is not my ambition. My life ambition is to be a pastor." Frank was so righteous and determined at this stage that his decision did not appear arguable.

"Fine, if you don't want to be the CEO, then Dean can take it!" Wyatt was forced to make his second son his pick.

"No, no, no, no, no! I'm a public servant, so I can't occupy such positions in a conglomerate. Else, I'll be suspended!" Dean shooed away this responsibility quickly. He turned white with fear.

Wyatt was upset. What was the point of having all those sons if none of them was mature enough to take over the family business?

He was declining health-wise year by year, and he had already prepared to retire. But no one of his children met his standard to take over his business empire.

Wyatt held the traditional opinion that his heir should be one of his sons.

"Who is lower than men? I will be the CEO!" I rolled out my scarlet lips and puffed out my chin proudly.

"Do you think you can be a CEO whenever you want? Do you think it's a kid's game? Will you be able to lead the company to victory? Do you know how to do business at all?"

Wyatt was a wise and aged man. He could barely hide his disappointment and irritation. "And besides, you're sulky! You disappear for years when we don't see eye to eye with you! Do you have any idea how we fretted about you, your stepmothers and I? We thought you were ripped to pieces at the frontier!"

My heart ached, and my eyes turned slightly pink.

While I resented my dad for being unfaithful to my mother, I also felt remorse about keeping him in the dark regarding my wedding to Kalus.

"Dad, Dera is every bit as good at this as I am."

Frank politely raised a teacup and took a sip. "Do you remember the financial crisis our company faced four years ago? Dera was the person who conceived various effective control measures. Dera also worked on all-nighters on preparing for the Walter Group takeover proposal two years ago."

Wyatt could not believe this.

"Dad, indeed, Dera is the most placid and resourceful person in our family. You've always had a good record of hiring the right people, utilizing them well, and bringing in talent. Why won't you hire a talent that's right in front of you now?" Dean also did his best to persuade Wyatt.

Wyatt paused for a second. Then he shouted out, "Alright. Dera, if you want to be the head of the company, then you must pass my test. This is your birthday gift from me!"

I stood up straight, and my beautiful eyes twinkled.

"Take some days off prior to reporting to duty at Savrow's Zz World Hotel next week. If you succeed in refurbishing the hotel in six months' time and rendering it profitable, I will even consider making you the CEO of Zz Group!"

Frank and Dean came towards me immediately after the Denz siblings had come out of the study.

Frank went on, "God only gives enormous jobs to large people."

"Okay, I guess you will have to first clean up this mess of a hotel." Dean sighed.

I know. That old fellow is just trying every trick in the book to make me stand down, but it's unfortunate that his tricks won't reach me. I am like a diamond that cuts most beautifully under pressure!" I was clenched fists. My dream, dormant for three years, finally began to stir.

My brothers glanced at each other and smiled.

"Excellent! We're relying on you to give us our freedom!"

I glanced down and saw Kalus Mike's name on the phone screen."Mr. Mike," I said in a chill voice.Dean Denz scowled, rose from his chair, and overheard our conversation."Mr. Denz, I must talk to Amara. I have something to tell her." Kalus spoke softly, with an undertone of concern."Amara is not available at present.""When will she be available then?""For you, she's never available."I was always courteous and mannered. Yet, whenever I dissed, I went in with guns blazing.Dean fisted his hands eagerly and considered, 'Well said!'On the receiving end, Kalus took a personal offense. His expression was sullen."Since Amara has changed her number, that's a sign that she doesn't want you to call her. Even if you haven't finalized the divorce yet, you should leave her alone if you have the basics of manhood. Second, I already know what happened at the charity auction."The eyes of Kalus narrowed. His heart felt as though it was being strangulated with barbed wire.Dean flinched at the

"U… U…" Carrie's tears well up as she is choked."You only want to fight us. We do not like Amara, and hence you want to help her. Is that so that you can show you are different and correct?!!"Bethany's nice face was contorted then. "Stop trying so hard! Ryan can never love a crazy person like you!""Ms. Bethany! What are you doing?" Wilma came running and hugged Carrie, who was wailing uncontrollably. The rest of the Tideview Manor staff were long accustomed to such a scene, and none would ever stand in the way of Bethany.Wilma alone had the guts to confront Carrie since she had served Kalus Mike for the longest time and could not stand how Bethany would bully Carrie."Wilma, get out! None of your business!" Bethany was also angry with Wilma."I think you should leave!"While comforting the trembling Carrie, Wilma glared at Bethany and warned her, "If you go out of this door today, I will pretend that I saw nothing. Otherwise, I will tell Young Master Kalus Mike exactly how you bul

Once I had returned from the charity auction, I locked myself into the room and would not open it to anyone. It was not a normal occurrence.Frank and Dean came to the villa at night to visit their sister. Though I went down to receive them, I was tired and exhausted."Dera, I heard what had happened at the auction."Frank hurried over and grasped my sister's gauze-covered hand. He rubbed her hand back and forth several times with concern. "How is your injury? Did Steve treat you and re-dress the wound? Does it still hurt? Is there infection?I've learned medicine, so I can manage it myself. Steve has enough on his plate. I don't want to burden him with something so trivial." I withdrew my hand and grumbled."Steve is getting more unreliable! If we hadn't gone home and met Aunt Mila, we wouldn't have known about this! Why didn't you tell us that the Salvadors bullied you at the auction?"Dean's eyes were full of hatred. "I am going to serve Salvador Corporation with a summons tomorrow

ACE was Ryan's upscale club.Kalus Mike was gloomy at night, so for the first time ever, he invited Ryan out to have a drink. Ryan rode over to his place in person. After all, Kalus Mike had only gone out of his way to hang out with him a couple of times since they were little kids."Sometimes I want to be your mistress," Ryan whispered in Kalus Mike's ear. In public, he was an unyielding emperor, but before Kalus Mike, he was a nagging mistress."I've never felt this way with women but with you, I just feel so neglected. Meanwhile, I'll be at your beck and call. I always rush to join you as soon as you call me. See what a good friend I am! I'm so touched by myself!""Have you never been so attached to a woman?" Kalus Mike glared at him. "I think you're quite attached to Amara." "Well, she's the first because she's such a great woman. I just can't help it." Kalus Mike flicked his eyebrows. He shifted his thin lips and restrained himself from cursing him.Two beautiful girls walked b

Mike Kalus's piercing eyes narrowed, focusing on Lydia's pale face, as though a storm was brewing. He let go of Lydia's hand slowly.Lydia was like a drowning person who had just lost her life-saving raft. She ignored the wound on her wrist and embraced Kalus Mike's waist in a hurry. "No, Kalus Mike! Amara provoked me first! I really didn't disturb her! Carrie has long been sick in the head, so you can't believe her!Sick in the head? All Carrie has is a bad haircut. She had clearly explained to them what had happened between Amara and Lydia." Ryan sneered. However, he did not say anything too terrible for Kalus Mike's sake.Even a playboy like Ryan looked down on Lydia, but Kalus Mike considered that scheming bitch his treasure. It was as if he was under her spell."Amara didn't hurt you, did she?" Kalus Mike gasped. He was starting to sound strained. In front of Carrie, who was a witness, Lydia could no longer lie. She was coldly sweating."So, you lied about Amara?"Kalus Mike felt

"Wait!" Kalus Mike yelled out. After listening to what I had said, Kalus Mike felt a fury of no explanation in his chest. "Ms. Kol, do you not still owe me an apology?" he spoke slowly.Ryan uttered a disapproving huff. He wanted to pull off his socks and stick them in Kalus Mike's mouth.I felt a blunt pain in my heart. I turned back to him with no care.Kalus Mike had thought that my piercing and disillusioned expression had reached his very soul."It wasn't Annie! It wasn't Annie!"A soft and gentle voice had appeared in the nick of time, catching out those people who had ill in their hearts. My eyes widened when I saw in the direction of the sound."Carrie!"A girl wearing an ordinary white frock with a "cauliflower" hairdo and a fair and slender face was going towards them. This ridiculous cut was the handiwork of Bethany's "masterpiece."In the Salvador household, Bethany had always treated Carrie as her pretend adversary.Bethany hated the fact that her sister was more beautifu

I was not a pushover."Listen up. Lydia and I are sworn enemies from now on! If I fail to keep my word, I'll be smashed into bits like this bracelet." I gritted my teeth and opened my palm slowly.Kalus Mike was momentarily choked. He saw that my palms and the fragments of the jade bracelet were stained with blood. He realized that I liked to wear the bracelet. That is why I was holding it stubbornly in my hands even though it was broken. I probably did not even notice that my hand was injured.Kalus Mike had a turmoil of emotions within his heart. He gazed for a long time at my angry face. His eyes were dark, and a crack in his heart appeared to form."Ms. Kol! Your hands are bleeding!"Ryan shouted and rummaged through all his pockets to find a handkerchief or a tissue to use to bind my injury. But Ryan couldn't find any.Kalus Mike also had a handkerchief in his breast pocket. He closed his eyelids and clenched his fingers, but he found that he couldn't muster the courage to pull i

Bethany pretended to take justice for Lydia."I… I bumped into Ms. Kol in the bathroom…"Lydia faintly gasped in Kalus Mike's arms and resentfully looked at me. "I know Ms. Kol doesn't like me, so I made the first move to greet her and be nicer so that we can forget the past… But Ms. Kol wasn't receptive to my attempt. Somehow, we started quarreling."I crossed my arms, tilted my head to one side, and laughed.Mike Kalus raised his head and scowled when he saw my grinning face."When I attempted to make a break for it, Ms. Kol caught me and wouldn't release me… During a panic attack, I unintentionally yanked off her bracelet, which fell to the ground and broke. Ms. Kol was distressed that the bracelet broke and did not wish to hear my apology and thus…"Lydia stopped talking and left everybody to their own imaginati

I was a well-educated and refined young woman. I had been indulged by the Denz family, so these tactics were not required of me to have my way. Marriage and subsequent divorce from Kalus Mike provided me with all kinds of schemes swimming in my brain.I recalled how Kalus Mike's eyes fell apart when "The Flaming Heart" was walked onto the stage. At that moment, I felt like I went too far. I could have simply pretended not to see the necklace. Kalus Mike did not have to be publicly embarrassed to that extent by auctioning it.But I was petty and indignant. I wasn't indignant about the divorce. I resigned myself to my destiny, aware that the love for which I had been waiting for thirteen years was gone. I just seethed with anger because so bright a man as Kalus Mike couldn't see that the woman he loved was an evil woman."I've gone too far. I won't do this again."I ached and smiled bitterly. This was the last time I was ever going to side with Kalus Mike and Lydia's affair. The bathroo
