“His name is—”

Before Mom could finish speaking, her phone began to ring.

She glanced at the phone beside her, then looked up at me. “Let me take this call, sweetheart.”

I let out a small breath. “No need anymore.”

I turned and walked towards my bedroom.

“Asher, wait—”

I ignored her and continued down the hallway. Behind me, I heard her pick up the call.

“Yeah, hello?”

I pushed open my bedroom door, walked inside, and closed it behind me.

After dropping onto my bed, I stared at the ceiling.

  • Cheering Love On Ice: My Accidental Stepbrother    Eat First Before Worrying

“His name is—”Before Mom could finish speaking, her phone began to ring. She glanced at the phone beside her, then looked up at me. “Let me take this call, sweetheart.”I let out a small breath. “No need anymore.”I turned and walked towards my bedroom.“Asher, wait—”I ignored her and continued down the hallway. Behind me, I heard her pick up the call.“Yeah, hello?”I pushed open my bedroom door, walked inside, and closed it behind me.After dropping onto my bed, I stared at the ceiling.I still couldn't believe my mother was getting married tomorrow. I had only found out that she was dating someone a few minutes ago, and now I was supposed to accept that a stranger would soon become my stepfather.Seriously, what was I supposed to do with that information?I turned onto my side and pulled a pillow closer, trying to make myself comfortable. Unfortunately, no position seemed right. My mind kept returning to the same question. How had Mom managed to keep a whole relationship from me

  • Cheering Love On Ice: My Accidental Stepbrother    Name Of Your Husband-to-be

"No, Mom!" I interrupted, shaking my head. "How does that even make sense? You've been dating someone for two months, and I didn't know anything about it. You never told me you had a boyfriend. You never mentioned that there was someone you liked. You didn't even give me a chance to meet him, and now you're telling me you're getting married?"I spread my hands, unable to hide my disbelief."How am I supposed to react to that?"My mom pressed her lips together.I stared at her for another moment before letting out a short, disbelieving laugh."Wow. Just wow."I looked away from her, rubbing my forehead as I tried to calm myself down.I couldn't believe it.Two months. For two whole months, my mother had been seeing a man without telling me. She had apparently fallen in love with him, decided she wanted to marry him, and made arrangements for their future together. And I had been completely unaware of everything.I wondered how many times she had spoken to him on the phone while I was

  • Cheering Love On Ice: My Accidental Stepbrother    TWO MONTHS?

~ Asher’s POV ~I stared at my mom for a moment before leaning back against the sofa and crossing my arms over my chest. She was getting married. My mom.The same woman who had spent years telling me that I was the most important person in her life was now sitting in front of me, announcing that she was about to marry a man I had never even heard about.I looked at her face, waiting for her to say something else, but she only gave me a small, nervous smile.I let out a slow breath and looked away.Honestly, I didn't think I had much of a say in this matter. Not because I didn't want my opinion to count, but because I knew exactly what my mother would do if I refused to accept her decision. She would cry.Yes, cry. That was her favourite weapon whenever I disagreed with her about something she really wanted. Her lips would tremble, her eyes would fill with tears, and before I knew it, she would be looking at me as though I had broken her heart. And just like that, I would become the ba

  • Cheering Love On Ice: My Accidental Stepbrother    What Is It?

I flinched slightly at his words.“Jamie.”“No, listen to me.” His voice wasn't loud, but the frustration in it was clear. “You've been waiting for almost an hour. You haven't even received a message telling you what's happening. How much longer are you going to sit here?”“I don't know.”The answer escaped before I could stop it.Jamie went quiet.I stared at my phone, embarrassed by how close I felt to tears. I wasn't going to cry over a missed ride. I wasn't going to let one disappointing evening ruin my mood. But it wasn't only about tonight. It was about every time I had waited for Evan, every time I had accepted an apology without asking why the same thing kept happening, and every time I had told myself that I was being unreasonable for wanting him to follow through.I loved him.I really did. That was what made it so difficult to admit how disappointed I felt.My phone suddenly rang.I looked down so quickly that I nearly dropped it.Evan's name appeared on the screen. For one

  • Cheering Love On Ice: My Accidental Stepbrother    Standing Me Up Again

~ Asher's POV ~ By the time practice ended, my legs were aching, my shoulders felt heavy, and all I wanted was a warm shower and my bed. I sat on the bench in the changing room and bent down to untie my shoes. My fingers were a little stiff from the cold, and the laces seemed determined to fight back. Around me, the other members of the cheerleading squad were packing their belongings, laughing and talking about their plans for the evening. The sharp smell of ice lingered in the air, mixed with the faint scent of sweat and the cleaning products used around the rink. I finally pulled off my shoes and let out a relieved breath. “Thank God,” I muttered. “Another five minutes and I would have died in there.” “Dramatic as always,” one of my teammates said from the other end of the bench. I picked up a rolled-up pair of socks and threw them at him. He dodged them easily, laughing as they landed on the floor behind him. “Keep talking. One day, I'll make sure you regret it.” I said

  • Cheering Love On Ice: My Accidental Stepbrother    Why Must You Have Another Person?

    ~~~~~ Rhyder’s POV ~~~~~I had never been happier about finding something I had spent years searching for.Asher Bennett.After all this time, I had finally found him.The moment my father's connections brought me the information I wanted, I couldn't sit still. I read the name of the university several times, checking it to make sure there had been no mistake.But there was no mistake.Asher was there.The boy who had disappeared from my life years ago, leaving behind nothing but anger I had never managed to get rid of, was attending the same university that had been trying to recruit me for its hockey team.I stared at the information on my phone, a smile slowly spreading across my face.“So, that's where you've been hiding, Bunny.”I could already imagine his reaction if he knew I had found him. He would probably glare at me, call me every insulting name he could think of, and tell me to stay away from him.The thought made me laugh.God, I had missed that face.I had missed the way
