Raina pov

I bit my lip and looked away. I felt my composure being attacked, and I was suddenly anxious to escape from his disturbing presence.

“Now let's get to work, everyone.” A voice cheered us up.

I’m compelled by an inexplicable urge to walk up to Rosey and explain to her that my supposed partner had once attempted to murder me.

But my legs felt like lead. They were stuck and unmoving.

Miles grabbed my arms and nudged me several times before I snapped out of my daydreaming.

“He’s here,” her voice was merely above a whisper. “You know I could tell Luna Rosey about Jac, but,” she paused, her eyes moistening. “Jac once helped me from getting bullied in school, so I can't just go on to tell on him, my conscience won't permit me.”

I pursed my lips, nodding my head.

“I would have loved to exchange positions with you, but I'm being paired with my crush, Michael. I really love him,” she murmured shyly, blushing.
