I knew mixing in with the elite was too good to be true. Was ready to give my heart to a man who was cold once moment, then hot and steamy the next. Turned out, I was right to have been weary as I was just a game for them. A shared secret. A punchline to the elite's amusement. Well, to all but one person. They planned to humiliate me on my wedding day, but with Dominic's help, we will ruin their ending and create our own. This time, I am choosing the other twin.
view moreStaring at the two pink lines on the little test, my heart stops beating for a moment. I never thought that after three years of being a kept woman - a stay-at-home-girlfriend for Liam Knightsbridge - I would end up with our child growing inside me.
The signs were there. The fatigue, the aversion to smell. Hell, I even missed not one, but two periods, but I thought it was because of the stress from tiptoeing around Liam and his many mood swings. For the five weeks he has been distant, snapping at me if I place a coffee mug on his desk too loudly one moment, then passionately making love to me the next. It was like my boyfriend of three years was a completely different person. A Doctor Jekyll and Mister Hyde situation.
“Miss Aurora, is everything okay in there?” The housekeeper, Helena, calls out, knocking gently on the bathroom door.
“Uh, yeah, just fine.” I answer, my voice wavering for a moment. God, even I don’t sound too convincing.
“I see. Well, Master Liam says he will be at the club tonight and not to wait for him.” Helena states. The Club. Of course, Liam would be there.
Starsign Nightclub, also known as The Club, was Liam’s favourite place to frequent. It was a club owned by his childhood friend and my old college roommate, Sheryl Crow. At first, I had joined him and his friends, wanting to be the perfect girlfriend who never strayed from his side, but I soon realized the constant drinking and loud music were not my scene.
Slowly, I convinced Liam to leave me at home where I can help take care of his large estate and allow him some downtime with friends. I knew he would be okay with this as he seemed to enjoy himself more when I was not around, and so Liam readily agreed to this suggestion, promising only to go once a month so that we could spend as much time as possible. But once a month soon became twice a month, then four times a month. For over a year now, Liam has been at The Club almost every night of the week, while I was left wondering if he was sleeping with another woman there.
Hell, it didn't help that he was returning home late at night and either ignored me, as if I were trash beneath his feet, or showered me with affection, which should be considered normal for someone who is supposedly the love of his life.
“Should I tell him?” I muse to myself, looking at the pregnancy test and sighing. Suddenly, my phone rings, an upbeat pop song reaching my ears. I jump, reaching for the device and finding Sheryl calling me.
“Hello?” I answer, trying to sound calm while I clutch the positive pregnancy test in my left hand.
“Aurora, why didn’t you come to the club tonight? We are celebrating our fifth anniversary since our opening!” Sheryl replies instantly, her voice sounding slurred. It seems she has been drinking the night away.
“Sorry, Sheryl, but I got busy with some projects.” I apologize, finding the lie flowing smoothly from my lips. I never trusted Sheryl, never liked the woman who was my college roommate. I heard the rumors that surrounded her. How she targeted women with harsh pranks and cruel false friendships. Hell, the reason why I was careful with Liam is because I have a feeling our dating was just a form of entertainment for Sheryl. I had been on edge, waiting to see when the shoe would drop and Liam would break up with me again like he did my final year of college, just before my final exams.
“Aw, booo! You should have came!” She protests, her words ending with a giggle.
“I know, maybe next time.” I suggest keeping my voice apologetic but light.
“Okay, it’s a deal.” Sheryl agrees before hanging up the call. Closing my eyes, I take a deep breath and lean my head against the wall. Maybe I should go to the club and find Liam. Let him know that I was pregnant with our child, and see what kind of reaction I would get. Either way, whether Liam accepted that I was pregnant with his child or not wouldn’t matter, as I have a nice little nest egg squirreled away.
Climbing to my feet, I head to my room and find the little black dress covered with silver glitter in my closet, dressing quickly and throwing my long, curly black hair into a messy bun on top of my head. With some wedged heels and touching up my make-up, I give myself a once-over in the mirror and smile. I look perfect for Starsign Nightclub.
“Helen, I am going out!” I call out as I climb down the pregnancy test tucked into my little purse.
“Okay, Miss Aurora, be safe, as there is a storm coming.” Helen calls back. After reassuring her I was taking my car, I headed into the garage and climbed into my Hyundai Kona, the one car that sticks out like a sore thumb beside the three luxury vehicles Liam owns.
Sitting at the dining room table, my laptop in front of me, I go through the contents of the U.S.B. Dominic gave me last night, confirming with my own eyes that he was telling me the truth. Every little detail about Sheryl’s game was unfolding before me with each video he had managed to capture, and my excitement turned into pure glee at knowing my so-called wedding day will be the Knightsbridge’s and Crow’s downfall. The elite of Vancouver City who seemed so untouchable will become laughing stocks in the public eye.Dominic had left about an hour ago, slipping a simple silver bracelet onto my wrist before he did and telling me that he loved me. I did not respond to the sentiment since I was not sure if I was in love with him or not, but my heart did skip a beat with his gentle kiss as he told me to eat well and stay safe, something I realized Liam never did. This care and consideration was only a Dominic thing, and it made me want to trust him more, to lean
Strong yet gentle lips kissing along my neck slowly bring me from my sleep. Hands were slowly roaming my body, groping me, claiming me possessively. A small moan escapes my lips when fingers pinch my nipples, sending ripples of pleasure through me.“Good morning, Aurora.” A soft, deep voice calls out. Opening my eyes, I find deep brown eyes watching me.“Dominic?” I ask, wanting to make sure that it was indeed the right twin in my bed still.“One and the same, baby.” He confirms, a smirk gracing his lips. I blink, searching for any hint that it may be a lie, but I catch sight of the chain he wore yesterday and sigh with relief.“Happy to know I am not Liam?” Dominic asks, dipping his head to nip at the sensitive skin of my neck. I moan again, my hands moving to clutch his hair as he kisses and licks along my sensitive skin. He was between my legs, his hard cock pressed against my entrance and I realize that some time between when he climbed into bed after
The bedroom door slams open, making me jump. I turn my head to see who it is that intruded on my bedroom and hold back my scoff. There, standing just a few feet away from me, is Dominic Knightsbridge. How do I know it is him when he and Liam were wearing the same suit at the club? Simple, he had the top half of his shirt undone, revealing the gold chain he wore around his neck. His deep brown eyes meet my blue ones, and a look of lust and love washes over them. Before I could move, Dominic had taken just four strides to reach my side, slamming his lips onto mine. The taste of beer assaults me as he pushes his tongue past my lips, tangling it with mine. A moan involuntarily escapes my lips while strong arms scoop me from my seat and flush against a familiar hard chest. This was definitely Dominic, as he was the only one I noticed having bees tonight.Dominic carries me to the bed, gently lying me down before crawling between my legs and hovering above me, his lips movin
Entering the mansion feeling dejected, I call out for Helen and let her know I have returned home. She greets me instantly, appearing from the kitchen door, wiping her hands on her apron.“That was, Miss Aurora.” She notes, her brows furrowed with concern.“The storm got too bad, and I figured coming home was safer than being out.” I lie smoothly, giving her the practiced smile I have used many times at Liam’s work events.“Ah, I see. Would you like something warm to drink to help chase the chill of the storm away?” Helen asks, and I instantly say yes, asking for her famous hot chocolate. Helen smiles happily, telling me to go change into some warm clothes and that the hot chocolate will be ready in a few minutes. Thanking her, I head up the stairs and into my room, deciding that I needed to call Mira as soon as I changed into some comfortable clothing. As soon as I reach my room, the first thing I do is dig the pregnancy test out of my purse and throw it and anything related to it in
The drive home in the rain was spent with me fighting back the tears threatening to spill. At times, I had to pull over to take a deep breath and stop myself from falling apart before I made it safely home. Home. This mansion I lived in was not home, but a prison, a stage created by Sheryl, Liam, and their friends for their own entertainment.I met Sheryl in college as my roommate and learned through her drunken ramblings when she thought I was asleep that she loved playing twisted pranks that ruined people’s lives. I listened in as she reminisced about a prank she pulled on her “friend” in high school. The girl was a scholarship kid like me, planning to get into a good college or university and make something of her life. From what Sheryl said, this girl fell for the silver-spoon friend Sheryl set this girl up with.Sher fell for the rich kid chasing her. For the flowers, luxury goods, and expensive dates, thinking she had met her prince charming. But she never gave up studying or he
Pulling into the parking lot of the Starsign Club, I shut off the engine and closed my eyes for a moment, taking in a deep breath and calming my nerves. The rain was beginning to pitter-patter against my windshield, reminding me about the storm coming in that Helen had warned me to be careful of. Climbing out of my car, I scurry towards the front door and flash the guard, David, a smile. He waves me on through, much to the annoyance of the waiting club goers.“Sorry guys, but she is V.I.P. and friends with the owners.” David says, and I catch him shrugging his shoulders unapologetically. Owners? Did he just say Owners? I thought only Sheryl owned the Starsign Nightclub.Confused, I make my way through the club, squeezing past the dancing crowd holding my purse to my chest. It doesn’t take long to reach the steps that lead to the V.I.P. section, and I nod to the two bouncers standing on either side, watching as shock, then pity, flicker through their gazes before allowing me to pass. I
