“Whoever held you up… it looks like you had fun,” she purred. My cheeks heated and I looked outside the window.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” I lied.

“Sure,” Nikki said knowingly.

“Have you been crying?” Mavy asked.

Nikki hated it when we sat in the back. She said it made her feel like her chauffeur, but Mavy didn’t care. She reached across the space between us and looked at me closely. I didn’t miss the way worry etched her features. Slowly, I moved back and splashed a smile across my face.

“No, it must be allergies,” I lied for the second time since I’ve gotten into this car.

She looked at me with doubtful eyes, but leaned back and didn’t say more on the subject. Nikki backed up the car quickly. The tires screeched as she hit the break and I felt like I got whiplash. If we weren’t werewolves, I would fear for our lives. Instead, I only feared for Nikki’s, she was the only human in the car. She blasted the music and Breakfast by Dove Cameron almost blew my eardrums.
