17. A Trip to Venice

Giovanni leaned forward in his chair as he waited for Luigi to speak again. He tried to remain calm under the tension, but with every passing second they spent in silence, he got more agitated. He wanted answers, and he wanted them quickly.

“I'm sorry for what happened to your clubhouse. I heard it got bombed.” Luigi started, speaking calmly. Giovanni hissed. News was always sure to spread quickly.

“Thank you for your concern. That is one of the reasons I am here,” he replied, studying his host's facial expression. Luigi still remained unfazed as he continued speaking.

“It's an honor that I am the first person you turned to,” Luigi spoke with a hint of sarcasm in his tone, Giovanni caught the sarcasm but chose not to react. He wasn't planning on losing his cool over trivial issues.

“Somethings are not how the eyes see them. You said that” Giovanni leaned back in his chair, maintaining eye contact with his host. “I want answers, and I know you can provide them,” he added.
