Morelli, Rafael, and the rest of the Capos were seated in the usual meeting room. This time, the room was arranged differently. Morelli and Rafael sat separated from the rest on a raised platform. The air in the room was tense. It wasn't just going to be another meeting. The council of Capos was going to elect a new don today. Rafael eyed Morelli from where he sat, a few meters apart. He was dressed in a black casual shirt and trousers with some pieces of silver jewelry. “We will start the voting process now. Whoever gets the highest votes cast will be made the don.” the leader of the process announced and both men turned their attention to him. “Oh shit!” he exclaimed after checking his pockets for his phone without finding it. He then remembered he had left it on the table in his office before stepping out. He sighed in desperation before shifting to another side of the wall. His gun was held firmly in his hands as he listened for any sound to alert him of the attacker.“One… two… three” He made a mental note, counting as he listened to the footsteps. There were three distinct footsteps, meaning his attackers were three or even more. He looked at the gun in his hand. It contained only five rounds of bullets, meaning he'd have to give each person a bullet each. The footsteps got closer and he braced himself up. He rammed his fists into the first attacker, making him yell out quickly as he staggered backward. The action had been sudden and unexpected, making the attacker's gun fly out of his hands.The second attacker fired a bullet quickly and he ducked, making the bullet hit the wall behind him. Giovanni sat weakly on the floor as he watched his younger brother get shot in the head. He screamed inaudibly as Angelo fell to the ground. Emotions tore through him and he jerked. Tears rolled down his cheeks as he tried to get up from where he had fallen to the ground.Romano inched forward with an evil smirk, his gun still pointed forward. At that instant, someone burst in through the door at the other end. Romano lost his focus for a moment and turned to look at the intruder. It was a female, dressed in a hoodie and face cap. She shot at him and he ducked in surprise. He wasn't expecting her to shoot him. She moved forward while still shooting at him and he continued trying to escape. He hid behind a pillar and reloaded his gun with the last set of bullets he had with him. He listened carefully as the shootings stopped and slowly, he popped his head out of hiding. A bullet flew over his head at that instant and he immediately went back in.“The fuck!” he exclaimed in a low voice.

Cielo opened her door and stepped in, locking it as soon as she got in. She leaned on the door and closed her eyes. Today had been a very long day for her and she was feeling very tired. She walked tiredly to a chair and sat down, closing her eyes to rest. It's been a bad couple of hours so far. Angelo was dead, Giovanni was lying with bullet wounds, and worst of all, Romano survived.She turned on her phone and scrolled through it.
