LOGINOrion POV
“You didn't have to do that.” Bailey whispers as we walk away. I hide my smile and decide to play dumb. “ Do what?” She chuckles. “ Thanks anyway. That was satisfying to watch.” She looks amused and impressed. Seeing her smile makes my heart flips, and I find myself craving to see more of it. I have craved her for years, watching her smile for that asshole from afar. He never deserved her, I knew that but Bailey was so smitten by him. I clear my throat, forcing my gaze away before she catches the shift in my expression. She doesn’t need to know that one smile from her can throw me completely off balance. It always did. The difference now is, she is by my side. She can keep thinking this is a fake relationship. Truth is, she is not getting away from me. Not now. Not ever. “Guess you’re not as big of a jerk as you pretend to be,” she says. She is clearly teasing me. “Don’t spread that rumor,” I reply, shoving my hands into my jacket pockets. “I have worked hard on my reputation.” She laughs again, and that sound hits deeper than I expect. For a moment, I forget we’re walking through the empty hallway of the arena — that we’re supposed to be caught in some twisted fake dating. It almost feels normal, like we are a real couple. “ Leaving already?” Bailey suddenly asks. “ The event is far from over.” “ I don't like crowds. Besides, tonight has already served its purpose.” I reply. Bailey chuckles. She is smart enough to read between the lines, to realise we were here for Nolan. The elevator doors open, and we step inside. The air suddenly grows tight between us. The scent of her shampoo – vanilla and something warm. It fills the small space and my pulse kicks up. She is standing close enough that the sleeve of her dress brushes my arm. I should move, keep a little distance because this kind of closeness is deadly. But I don’t. I can't. She glances up at me, a flicker of curiosity in her eyes. “ You like putting on a show, don't you?” She asks. My mind thinks back to how I'd pretended when Nolan mentioned something about Bailey moving on fast. I grin. “You make it sound like I don’t have other hobbies.” “Do you?” She challenges. “I play hockey. I win. I annoy you. That seems like a full-time job.” She rolls her eyes but doesn’t look away. I can feel the tension stretching between us. She is looking at me and I don't know what she is thinking about. My mind flickers to the way she tensed earlier when Nolan made his appearance. Alongside stepping on Nolan's toes tonight, I wanted to test how much she has ‘ moved on’ from him. I am a very strategic person and if I am winning her heart, I need to know how much effort I should be putting in. One thing is decided though, she is never getting close to that asshole again. The elevator dings, breaking the moment. She steps out first, and I follow. I lead her to the car. My manager is already waiting for us. Once settled, we hit the road. We drive in a comfortable silence until we pull outside her place. “ You should find a place for yourself. It's not convenient staying at your friend's.” I find myself saying before I can stop myself. Bailey turns to look at me, eyes narrowed. “ What's so inconvenient about it?” I see genuine curiosity in her eyes. She can be feisty at times and now, she looks cute staring at me and waiting for an answer. “ For example, you can't invite me in for a drink.” Her lips twitch, and I know that look. “Oh?” she asks, voice smooth and low. “And why would I invite you in?” I smirk. “Out of gratitude. You know, for being a gentleman tonight?” She leans back in her seat, eyes glinting. “Hmm. You mean for using me tonight? You couldn’t resist showing off to Nolan that we are together now.” “Maybe I can’t resist a lot of things,” I murmur, leaning closer. The way she freezes tells me she caught the double meaning. Her breath catches, barely audible. “You think I would fall for that?” She fires back. I don't miss how her eyelids drop for a split second. “Who said anything about falling?” I ask, my voice dropping. “You just have to… lean a little closer.” She scoffs, but her tone betrays her composure. “You sound awfully confident for someone sitting outside my friend’s apartment.” “I have reason to be.” She looks at me for a good half minute. “Orion, do you think this fake dating thing gives you a free pass to flirt, huh?” She raises her lips in a sneer. “I think it gives me every reason to,” I counter, smiling. “You said it yourself. I put on a good show. So, I am just trying to keep the act consistent.” Bailey tilts her head, a teasing spark igniting in her eyes. “Then I should probably up my acting too.” She replies in a honey - like voice. Before I can ask what she means, she leans in. She is so close that her perfume hits me like a drug. One that I am showing signs of addiction for. “Goodnight, Captain.” She whispers, her big eyes meeting mine. Her voice brushes my skin like a flame licking me. Then she pulls back, opens the door, and steps out. I’m still frozen, fingers tightening around my knees. Bailey takes a few steps then turns around, smirking. “Oh, and Orion?” “Yeah?” I answer, absentmindedly. “You might want to practice your self-control. Wouldn’t want your fake girlfriend to think you can’t handle her.” I sit there for a full minute even after she disappears, jaw tight, pulse pounding. Hell. She’s going to be the death of me. “ Did you just get beaten in your own game?” My manager who had been awfully present all this time mocks. “ Shut up and drive!”Bailey POVThe rest of the day passes in a blur of flour and sugar. The familiar rhythm of baking provides a welcome distraction from the morning's unexpected encounter with Fiona.I am piping frosting onto a batch of cupcakes when the bell above the door chimes."Bailey!" Mrs. Chen walks in, followed by two other women I recognize as my regular customers.“We came to check on you, dear." She informs me, her kind eyes showing concern.I set down the piping bag, surprised. I didn't expect someone to do that, especially not with how wild the rumours have been spreading online."Check on me?" I ask, not concealing my emotions.Mrs Chen nods, a smile adjourning her beautiful face."After all that nonsense online, we wanted to make sure you knew that we don't believe a word of it." One of her companions adds.My heart warms from her words.Apart from those closest to me, only Orion's parents didn't seem to believe what Nolan posted about me."Not a single word," Mrs. Chen agrees firmly. "
Bailey POVAfter leaving Orion's home, I make my way to my apartment. Talia is not home, probably still with Marcus or at work so I change my clothes and head to the bakery. The drive to Sweet Beginnings feels surreal. I'm still buzzing from the night and of course the morning with Orion. The pleasant ache in my muscles reminds me of every moment we spent tangled together.I can't stop smiling. When I pull up to the bakery, I'm surprised to see someone waiting outside. It's a woman I don't recognize at first until she turns to face me. Blonde, petite…the woman I found in bed with Nolan. She is dressed in designer clothes that probably cost more than my monthly rent. She was pacing back and forth, checking her phone anxiously. When she sees me approaching, her head snaps up.Fiona Morrison…Nolan's girlfriend and his sponsor's daughter. What the hell is she doing at my bakery? That's what comes to mind. Is she here to make trouble for me? I sure hope not because I am not in the mood to d
Bailey POVI wake up slowly, my body deliciously sore in all the right places. I smile when I remember where I am.The memories from last night come flooding back; his hands on my body, his mouth everywhere, the way he made me fall apart over and over again. Heat rushes to my cheeks even though I'm alone in the bed.I knew Orion could work magic on my body but I didn't expect him to make me scream his name more than three times a night. He ravaged me like a starved animal but oh well, I can't complain. It was the best experience I have had all my life.I sit up, pulling the sheet around myself. I don't need to think twice about where he must be. It's typical of him, feeding me after exhausting me.It still amazes me that Orion can cook and is willing to cook for me. I never had that privilege with Nolan who kept reminding me that cooking was something meant for females.I find one of Orion's t-shirts draped over a chair and slip it on. It falls to mid-thigh, and I can't help but smil
Nolan POV The night air hits me as I step outside the club, cold and sobering. I should feel guilty, I should call Jasper and tell him to forget the whole thing. But I don't.Instead, I head to my car and drive home a lingering happiness blooming in my heart.Call me wicked but I don't care. After years of competing with Hayes, I can't let him defeat me.I have sacrificed a lot to beat him, I won't sit by and watch him shine while everyone else sees me inferior. I should probably call an Uber, but I'm not that drunk, just buzzed enough to make bad decisions seem reasonable.By the time I pull into my building's parking garage, it's past midnight. I take the elevator up to my floor, already mentally preparing for the inevitable drama that's about to unravel during rehearsals.I spot Fiona's car in the garage making me frown. Why is she here? She didn’t inform me that she would be coming to Michigan. When I open the door to my apartment, I find her sitting on my couch with her arms c
Nolan POVThe whiskey burns going down, but not enough to drown out Coach Williams' words still echoing in my head."One more step out of line, Carter, and you're done. I don't care if we're mid-season or headed to nationals. You stay away from Hayes and his girlfriend. Are we clear?"Crystal fucking clear.I down the rest of my drink and signal the bartender for another. The club is packed tonight—loud music, flashing lights, bodies pressed together on the dance floor. It's exactly the kind of distraction I need but I don't feel distracted enough. My mind is still stuck at that argument I had with Bailey…then Orion's warnings."You look like shit," Jasper slides onto the stool next to me, his signature smirk firmly in place. “ Had a rough day?" He probes. The guy has been friendly since I transferred and joined the Blackhawks team."You could say that." I accept the fresh drink the bartender sets down. “ The coach summoned me and warned me.Apparently, I'm supposed to play nice wit
Bailey"So don't," I whisper against his ear. "Take me right here in the hallway." I say, my mouth hovering dangerously at his lips. His hot breath fans my cheeks and excitement floods me,my pussy walls clenching and spasming. He groans but keeps walking. "Not for your first time with me. You deserve better than a wall fuck." Orion replies."What if I want a wall fuck?" I ask teasingly. Knowing him, he wouldn't do that on our first time but it doesn't hurt pushing his buttons, does it?"Later," he promises, kicking open his bedroom door. "I'll fuck you against every wall in this apartment if you want. But right now, I'm taking my time with you." Orion replies with a smirk. His words are filthy and unrestrained, making my pussy gush with wetness. He lays me on his bed gently, then steps back to look at me. I'm still wearing my bra, my hair is a mess, and I'm sure my lipstick is smudged. But the way he is looking at me makes me feel like the most beautiful woman in the world."You're ov
