“W-What?”

My jaw slacked as Carlos’s demand shriveled my stomach, catching me off guard. I didn’t imagine he would bring up that promise all of a sudden.

Gulping a lump in my deserted throat, I opened my mouth to speak, but nothing came out of it. The air between us crackled as Carlos’s gaze lowered to my lips.

“I know you won’t give in so easily, so what about you coming with me to moonlight charity auction next weekend?

I need a date, and this way, we will know about each other better.”

His statement reminded me of the werewolf community’s lavish event, the moonlight charity auction where the cream of all the packs were invited. Xander was used to attending this party to look for profitable business opportunities with other packs.
