Harley’s P.O.V.

Why would he tell me that? That was something I couldn't put in words.

Like Henry kidnapped me with proper planning and was confident about the success of his plan. But still, he brought up this personal matter before anything else. I failed to understand his intention behind it.

So, I chose to remain silent, fidgeting with my sleeve. Aunt Freya also didn't press for answers. She was silent for a long time after that question, so long that the ticking of the antique clock on the wall began to feel loud, each second stretching thin with tension.

She didn’t look at me immediately. Her fingers traced the pattern on the bedspread, slow and deliberate, as if choosing her words carefully.

“I expected this conversation,” she finally said. “At the prayer ceremony, I noticed your confusion, especially during the second ritual. Henry's blabbering was just the final push to your suspicions.”

I looked up, startled. My heart thudded wildly in my chest. “The second ritual?”

Harley’s P.O.V.Three days later. The castle felt like a mausoleum. Three days had passed since my wedding was ruined, I was kidnapped, drugged, and almost killed. But the fear wasn't dulled a bit. It clung to me like a second skin, racing my heart at tiny movements around me.I walked slowly down the corridor leading back to my room, the soft echo of my footsteps swallowed by thick, suffocating silence. Black drapes replaced the white silks that had once fluttered from every pillar. The scent of funeral incense clung stubbornly to the air, bitter and heavy, as if grief itself had seeped into the stones.Henry’s funeral was over, if it could even be called that. Lucian had stripped him of the Laynox surname before the sun had set on the day of his death. No family crest, no ancestral rites, no burial in the Laynox graveyard where generations of nobles slept beneath carved marble angels.Henry was laid to rest far beyond the castle walls alone, his name an example of disloyalty and be

Carlos’s P.O.V.Blood roared in my head, pure, and blinding, murderous intent drowning every other thought as my claws hovered inches from Henry’s throat. The interruption tore through me like an insult carved into flesh, and I paused with a snarl already on my lips.My mouth turned bitter as this was none other than Grandpa Lucian, who followed me all the way here for this interruption.“What did you just say?” I snarled, turning my head to see my nosy family. The portal became alive again as Lucian stepped fully out of the halo of glowing light, his presence filling the room with cold authority. Aunt Freya followed him, pale and rigid, her eyes flicking first to her husband, who was alive all thanks to her dad. Then she paused to see Harley behind me.“Stand down, Carlos.” Lucian’s cold gaze swept across this heinous prison, but still, he commanded. “This ends now.”My wolf slammed against my ribs, furious, "You stopped me,” I growled. “Why? Can't you see what happened here? You kn

Harley’s P.O.V.Henry laughed, but it wasn’t loud, maniacal, or insane. Instead, it sounded soft and indulgent, like I’d just asked the most ridiculous question in the world.“So all the evil in the world is my problem now?” he said lazily, tilting his head. “You humans have such a charming way of simplifying things.”My stomach twisted awkwardly as he glanced at me, eyes glinting.“You asked how I knew about the attack,” Henry continued, strolling around the room as if we were discussing the weather.“Attending a banquet doesn’t mean one must stay there all night. Didn’t you and Carlos leave early too? A little date night, some privacy? I went out too."My blood ran cold as he confessed shamelessly. I muttered under my breath. "So, you followed us. How surprising!”Henry's smile widened as he clearly heard my muttering. “Of course I did, darling. And I loved it.” My pulse thundered in my ears as he took a slow breath, inhaling deeply as if savoring a memory.“The night market was fa

Harley’s P.O.V.The silence after Henry left pressed down on me like a weight. I stayed on the cold stone floor for a long time, my knees drawn to my chest, my thoughts spiraling in cruel, merciless circles. His words replayed over and over again, sinking their claws deeper with every repetition.“You will grow old.”“You will die alone.”“He will move on.”The truth of it hurt more than I wanted to admit. Carlos was a vampire, eternal and unchanging, while I, on the other hand, was a human, fragile, and bound to time. Wrinkles, weakness, and death would eventually come. The image came unbidden in my head. Carlos standing exactly as he was now, strong, beautiful, and powerful beside my grave centuries from now. Loving another and forgetting me. I would be just a passing fling for him in his long life.My chest tightened painfully, and a tear slipped free before I could stop it. It wasn’t that I hadn’t suspected it before. I knew something was off. The way he behaved at the prayer ce

Harley’s P.O.V.Pain was the first thing I felt. A dull, throbbing ache pulsed behind my eyes, spreading slowly like a bruise blooming inside my skull. I groaned and tried to move, but the mattress beneath me felt unfamiliar, too soft, too cold. The air smelled wrong too, not like home. The word 'home' dragged memories to the surface. Derek, the wine, laughter forced too loud to mask my anxiety, and then the strange itch on my neck.My stomach lurched as the memory sharpened. The dizziness came suddenly after that sensation, crashing over me like a wave. The room spun, and Derek’s voice sounded far away. And then hands, not Derek's, strong and rough, dragged me away.Goddess, what the hell happened to me?I sucked in a sharp breath and forced my eyes open, trying to get rid of the memory in my head. The ceiling above me was unfamiliar, dark wooden beams carved with strange symbols, some of them faintly glowing red. Heavy velvet curtains blocked out whatever light existed beyond the
