Harley’s P.O.V.

Carlos stared at me for a heart stopping moment, his expressions tinged with shock as if he wasn’t expecting me to raise this query.

After what felt like centuries, he cleared his throat and answered, his voice low but steady.

“Yes, the child is mine. I heard the heartbeat.”

My stomach clenched painfully. His response shattered something delicate in my chest, leaving me stunned speechless. I had thought a lot about it, preparing a speech about Irene’s suspicious character and her influence on the council despite being an ordinary she-wolf.

But Carlos’s trust in her sealed my lips. No word came out of it, although I tried to congratulate him like a bigger person. Alpha ran a hand through his hair, leaning back. His voice was laced with firm resolve as he continued.

“As for the future … I am still figuring it out. But there is one thing I know for a fact.”

He looked at me again, his eyes burning with intensity.
