Reese’s POV

My eyes suddenly snapped open. I was a little confused about where I was until yesterday's events came crashing in. My eyes immediately fell on the still form of Doc Nina, her chest slowly rising and falling.

After she'd been stabilized, Jaxon had ordered Kara back to her room. He even had to mindlink Caleb to come get her because she was breaking out already.

He had ordered me me too but I told him I was good. He didn't push it considering how our night had turned out.

I must have dozed off on the chair. Checking the time, I noticed it was a few minutes past six. The tournament would be starting by nine. That was less than three hours to get set.

I was the only one in the room, everything silent except the clock on the wall that ticked too loudly. I moved from the couch I was resting on and moved beside Doc Nina, elbows on my knees, staring at the dried streak of crimson beneath her nose. Her skin looked pale, almost waxy, but her breathing had evened out.
