Aria moved into the mansion with heavy steps, each one tinged with irritation. She hated herself a little for it, hated that even now, after everything, she was following Kieran’s curt order to “go and clean up.” But she wanted the weight of blood and dirt and fear off her skin more than she wanted to rebel.

The front hall was warm, golden with lamplight. Mira stood there waiting, her hands flying to her mouth the moment she saw Aria. Her soft eyes brimmed with tears, and before Aria could say anything, the woman swept forward and kissed her cheek with a trembling tenderness.

“Oh, my sweet girl,” Mira whispered, voice thick. “I was so scared you weren’t coming home.”

Aria’s chest clenched, guilt mixing with relief. She leaned into Mira’s touch, inhaling the faint lavender scent clinging to her apron.

“Can I get you anything? Anything at all?” Mira asked quickly, her hands still holding Aria’s arms as if to make sure she was real.

Aria opened her mouth, unsure what she even needed, whe

He slid in behind her, pushing her forward just enough to fit. Even in a bath so massive, he still seemed too big, his presence consuming the entire space. His arms wrapped around her, pulling her back against him. She shivered when the hard press of him nudged against her spine.Kieran picked up soap, lathering it slowly in his hands before smoothing it across her skin. His touch was tender now, drawing patterns on her arms, her thighs, her stomach, as though he were memorizing her piece by piece.Aria swallowed, breaking the silence, turning her head to look at him. “I’m sorry.”His hand stilled. His head dipped closer. “For what exactly?”She frowned at the deflection, but he only waited. Finally, she whispered, “For running. For pu

By the time Kieran finally stopped, Aria’s body was trembling, limp against his desk. Her legs could barely hold her up, every muscle weak from the relentless waves of release he had wrung from her. She tried to steady her breathing, but the heat of him still clung to her skin.Kieran scooped her up without a word, his arms iron-strong yet trembling faintly as though holding her was the only thing keeping him grounded. Aria melted against his chest, too weak to fight, too unwilling to try. His scent, smoke and pine and something darker, wrapped around her like a tether. He carried her swiftly through the hall, kicked open the door to their bedroom, but didn’t stop at the bed. Instead, he strode into the bathroom. The lights were low, golden and soft, shadows flickering across the stone. He set her carefully on the edge of the oversized tub, his body

Aria slipped back into her room after leaving Mira in the kitchen, her body worn from the endless storm of the past days. The hot shower, the food, even the comfort of being back at Black Moon, all of it soothed her, but only a little. What she craved wasn’t rest.It was him.She pulled her knees up on the bed, curling into herself, waiting. But the minutes bled into hours, the silence of the room too heavy, and still he hadn’t returned. He hadn’t even looked at her properly since he carried her out of that nightmare of a castle. He had apologized for hurting her, for marking her without permission, but after that? Nothing. Just distance. It ate at her until she couldn’t sit still another second.Aria threw the blanket back and padded out into the hall, her silk nightdress whispering around her thighs. The mansion was dark and hushed, the hour late. She found Mira tidying in the foyer and approached quickly.“Mira,” she asked softly, “have you seen him?”The older woman nodded gravely

Kieran didn’t speak as he lifted Aria into his arms and carried her out of the black, gothic castle. The night air hit them, cool and sharp, the scent of pine and damp earth heavy in the forest around them. He didn’t pause to look back, didn’t falter as his bare feet crunched over the undergrowth.Aria rested her head against his chest, too exhausted to fight, too worn down to do anything but breathe him in. His warmth seeped into her bones, dulling the pain that had been consuming her since she’d been taken, since she ran. Every thud of his heartbeat beneath her ear smoothed out the jagged edges inside her. For the first time in days, her body didn’t ache with fire.He walked in silence.Eventually the dense woods thinned and broke into an empty road. At the edge of the clearing, sleek and gleaming even in the dim light, sat one of Kieran’s cars, low and black. His favorite sports car. It waited like it had been summoned just for them.He set her down carefully, as though she were fr

A black blur tore into the room, faster than lightning, heavier than a storm. It struck Lucien with such force the vampire lord’s body was lifted off the ground and hurled across the chamber. He hit the wall with a thunderous crack, stone fracturing under the impact, dust and debris raining down around him.Aria’s breath caught in her chest, her trembling hands flying to her mouth. Her heart knew before her eyes did. Odin. The massive black wolf stood before her, fur bristling, his golden eyes burning with a fury that was not remotely human. He was every nightmare and every salvation in one, a living weapon of rage and devotion. He filled the chamber with his presence, his snarl rattling the very air. From beyond the heavy walls came the sounds of hell unleashed, screams, steel clashing, claws tearing, the thunder of battle crashing through the castle. The war had begun.Lucien rose from the ground, his perfect face smeared with black blood, his eyes glowing with murderous hunger. He
