LOGINEVA'S POV
Arriving at the white gate, Cruz parked the red sports car at the frontage, and I asked him, "How about the other houses? Are all the houses the same?" "No. Houses in this White Estate are expensive. And only billionaires can afford to live here," Cruz replied calmly as he waited for the gateman to pull the gate open for him. "So your wife is a billionaire? Then tell her to pay Jacob Stone for us?" I asked my brother, and he laughed. "It's easier said than done. Maddison is not a billionaire, and moreover, you incurred the debt. You should think of how to earn money to pay Jacob off before he comes to arrest you," Cruz said as he ignited his car and drove into the compound. "Why will Jacob come to arrest me? I didn't steal from him or intentionally cheat on him. Moreover, where do I want to get the work that will pay me the money to cover a ten-million debt? At Almond Tech, I was offered a job with a salary of two hundred thousand. How many months will I work to be able to pay Jacob?" I said, not wanting to mention Ethan Owen to my brother. "Eva, you should have thought about all this. If you cannot pay Jacob, you should go back to beg him. I am sure that he will forgive you and take you back. Moreover, he loves you very much," Cruz advised me, and I sighed as he turned off his car. "Eva, Jacob did so much for you. Try to reach out to him to ask for forgiveness. I am sure he will forgive you. Similarly, I cannot ask Maddison for another help. It's enough that I helped you to get a job at Almond Tech. I don't think she will want to get involved in your scandal," Cruz said, and I nodded. "It's fine. I will find a way to reach out to Jacob later," I replied, and my brother nodded and reminded me, "That reminds me. Maddison's younger brother, Noah, is at home. You shouldn't get on their wrong side," Cruz advised me before he unlocked his side door, and I got out of the car. The sunny wind bathed my head and blew against my slim body as I got out in my green midi dress and looked at the white duplex that loomed in front of me. The last time I was here was one year ago, when Cruz and Maddison had just welcomed their son. Now, I was here again. I knew how Maddison looked down on my family because she felt we were poor, but because Cruz loved her, he condoned her silly behavior. Ringing the doorbell, Cruz waited for someone to pull the door open, even though it was his own house. The entrance door swung open, and a tall young man wearing a blue top and black jeans stood there and peered at us. His eyes fell on me, and he smiled as Cruz and I entered the living room. The young guy resembled Maddison, and I didn't need anyone to tell me who he was. "Welcome, brother-in-law," he said as Cruz and I entered the living room. "Yeah. Noah. This is my sister, Eva," Cruz introduced us, and I smiled at Noah, as I had seen him once on the day of Cruz and Maddison's wedding. "I know, brother-in-law. You don't have to introduce us," Noah replied, his tone playful as his brown eyes shamelessly raked over my body. Unable to hide his curiosity, Noah asked, "Why is Eva having hickeys all over her body? Or is it an allergy?" "Noah!" Cruz's expression hardened as he didn't approve of Noah mocking me. Maddison strode downstairs, her steps slow as she peered at me. She wore a pink top and short skirt, paired with black slippers. Her long hair cascaded down her back. "Cruz, why will you bring your sister here? Her scandal is the talk of the internet—that she cheated on her fiancé and got disowned by her parents—and yet you brought her here," Maddison's sharp voice cut through the air, and Cruz turned to face her. "Babe, Eva didn't deliberately cheat on Jacob. They can still settle their differences. Just let her stay with us for a few days, until she can find her way and settle her issues with my parents," Cruz tried to explain to Maddison, even though he was the man of the house. "No," Maddison said sharply. "What do you want my friends, our family members and business partners to say? First, your sister cannot work with us at Almond Tech, because her scandal is all over the internet—that she refused her fiancé to touch her, yet she is secretly doing hookups with any available rich man that she can find," Maddison shouted as she glared at me. "Babe! Eva is my sister. She is not that type of woman. She didn't intentionally agree to do it. Just let her stay here for a while," Cruz begged his wife on my behalf, but she refused. "No, Cruz. I don't want your sister here with us. Let her find her way or go back to Jacob Stone. She is not welcome here. Didn't you see the news? That billionaire CEO, Jacob Stone, is demanding fifteen million from your family. Are you going to help Eva to pay for it? Let her leave!" Maddison shrieked, and I tried to speak. "Sister-in-law—" "Don't call me that. I am not your sister-in-law!" Maddison yelled at me, her eyes shooting daggers my way. "I cannot be sister-in-law with a cheap slut like you. So get out of my house before you corrupt my son or get laid with my brother for money," she accused, and my jaw dropped as I turned speechless. "What? Big sister. How can you accuse me of such?" Noah said, laughing despite his sister's anger. "Who knows what Eva is capable of, when she doesn't take her eyes off rich guys," Maddison said, her voice cold, and Cruz raised his voice at her. "Babe, Eva is my youngest sister. She is not leaving this house if your brother stays. If you don't want my sister to stay with us, then your brother is leaving here too," Cruz stated as he refused to let me leave. But I didn't like that he and his wife were quarreling because of me. "It's okay, brother. I will go. You don't have to fight with your wife because of me," I said, but my brother shook his head. "No, Eva… Maddison doesn't allow you or Elora to come here, but she allows her own siblings here. Isn't that partial?" Cruz asked, his voice sad, and I sighed. "It's fine. I will find a hotel to lodge in until I can find an apartment," I replied, wanting to leave, but my brother stopped me. "No. I said you are not leaving. Let Maddison come and take you out. Let me see," Cruz insisted, and Maddison stood speechless, peering at us. "Come on, let me show you to the guest room," my brother insisted, but I shook my head. "Brother, let me go. You don't have to quarrel with your wife because of me," I said, but he shook his head. "If I do not stand up for you, who will? You are my sister, and not because you made a mistake will I cast you away. You also helped me in my lowest. So if Maddison wants to end our marriage because of you, it's fine. She can send us out together," my brother said, his tone firm, and Maddison stood there shocked.EVA'S POVAs I stood aside, preparing to dial Ethan's number, I watched the CEO of Johnson Group, Gabriel Johnson, stride up to meet me."Eva, you look so stunning tonight," CEO Gabriel said, as he wore a black tuxedo and a deep red undershirt. He extended his hand for a handshake, and he took my hand and placed a soft kiss on my knuckles. My heart fluttered, and I wanted to withdraw my hand away from his hold as I recalled that he is a womaniser."What are you doing standing out here?" CEO Gabriel asked me softly as he stood with his bodyguards beside him."Um, I want to call someone," I replied, and he smiled."Alright. Will you be quick about the call, or should I wait for you? I do not mind taking you in as my plus one," he grinned, and I looked over at his men who stood behind him."The call will take me a while. Actually, I want to help my brother with something," I said, as I watched Cruz and Maddison step forward."Oh, Mrs. Brooklyn. You didn't inform me that you are in connec
ETHAN'S POVIn the field, I held the golf stick and struck the ball, aiming for a goal; however, the ball rolled over and didn't fall into the hole."Let me try," Cade said as he stepped forward, took the stick, and struck another ball that the coach had set on the ground for him.As Cade's luck would shine, the ball flew a long distance and rolled into the hole. He scored against me."Yes!" Cade gasped with excitement, and my lips curled in a smile watching him."This deserves some truth. Ethan, tell me," Cade said as he strode to meet me, but I didn't say a word. My lips remained locked, and I looked over at the distance, calculating how to strike the ball."If you miss your target, you are telling me the truth of what's ongoing," Cade pressed, his tone serious. I laughed and held the stick with a firm grip."Deal," I agreed, and Cade's eyes widened."No backing out," Cade said as he stepped aside for me to strike the ball.As the coach set the ball, I held the stick and struck it.
ETHAN'S POV"It's complicated, man. You wouldn't believe that Freya called my mother and reported to her that I was cheating on her," I started to say as I peered at Cade's face. He burst out laughing hard."I wanted to ask you too. What's going on with you, Ethan? Do you check the news at all?" Cade asked, his tone serious."What do you mean?" I asked him, my brows furrowed.Cade's lips curled up in a smile as he brought out his phone. His finger clicked on the screen, and he showed me a photo."Take a look at the gossip news about you. It clearly shows you, Owen's Group CEO, on his knees in front of his secretary, wearing a shoe on her feet. And you are saying that you have an aversion to women? I think you are not being honest with me even though I am your buddy."I snatched Cade's phone and peered at the screen. My jaw dropped because it didn't occur to me that someone had secretly taken a snapshot of me when I was testing the shoes on Eva's feet."These are just photos. They don'
ETHAN'S POVAfter I left my parents' place, I instructed my driver to take me to the golf center, while I pulled my phone to make a call to my best friend."What's up, Cade, how are you doing this weekend?" I asked him, as I listened to his response."I am fine. I wanted to call you now, but I don't know what you're up to. Are you hanging out with your fiancée?" Cade asked, and my brows furrowed."No. I am heading to the golf center. Meet me there," I replied before he agreed."Got it." The rest of the call ended, and I reclined in my car seat, my gaze out of the window.Arriving at the golf center in Dominic City, where Cade and I hung out to catch up on our lives, I watched the car pull to a halt and I climbed out.A man in black welcomed me, as he was a security guard, while I responded to his greetings before striding to the field to take a look at the vast surrounding. The open field, the thick forest far ahead, the high mountains, and the birds chirping around.A few elderly men
EVA:"Eva, what took you so long to purchase a watch for Ethan's sister?" Elora asked after I arrived at the car and unlocked the front passenger door. I plopped into the front seat and apologized, "I am sorry. I just thought to purchase something more expensive." I blushed; my sister shook her head and ignited the car."I get it. For your boss's sister, you have to give her something worth it. Otherwise, I am sure she will reject it," Elora said as she drove out of the parking lot. She headed for the Owen's Hotel."Yeah," I replied with a smile. My gaze remained outside the window as I avoided looking at Elora's face. My heart was thumping loudly in my chest as I pondered if Ethan would misinterpret my gift for his sister.I kept looking outside the car as my phone vibrated. My heart raced, thinking it was Ethan calling me, but a wave of disappointment crashed down on me when I saw that it was Jacob. With Elora in the car, I drew a deep breath and answered his call."Hello, Jacob."I
EVA:After Elora went into her room, Mom looked at me adoringly and asked, "Eva, are you sure that there's nothing ongoing between you and your boss?"Meeting her gaze, I replied, "Nothing.""Mm. Alright. You should stay safe at the birthday party, and it's better that you stay close to Elora to avoid stories that touch the heart," Mom advised me as she made her way to the corridor."Got it, Mom," I replied as I moved back to perch on the black couch in the living room while waiting for my sister to finish changing her clothes. How could Ethan give me a bag and shoes worth 10 million? What game is he playing? I had tried to pay him the money I owed him, but he refused.Did he truly want to keep me as his mistress? But he is engaged.I sighed while checking my last conversation with Ethan on my phone. The living room door unlocked, and my dad strode in. His eyes widened in surprise, just as Mom's and Elora's had."Eva, you look stunning. What are you waiting for? You should go to the p
-Ethan's POV-I stood aside, watching Jacob drive his car skillfully into my company's ground and park it.Seeing me standing aside at the parking, as Pete waited for me.Jacob smiled and walked out of his car, and he stole a glance at his left wristwatch."Ethan, are you just leaving?" Jacob asked
~Ethan's POV- At 8 p.m., I set out to drive to the sports bar, wearing a blue top, black trousers, and a pair of black shoes. I called Cade to find out where he was as I stood at the front of my house. "'Sup, Cade? Are you sure you're hanging out at the sports bar tonight?" I asked, to which he re
(Ethan's POV)I knew Eva was afraid of me. She stilled as my finger touched her cheek. Her skin was so soft that I felt blood flowing in my veins again. Her red lips enticed me to draw her closer and seal my lips on hers to silence her mouth, but I held myself back. I didn't want to scare her. Afte
-Eva's POV- "You have a very beautiful secretary, Ethan," Mr. Johnson said, as he smiled at Ethan and looked at me. My face flushed red at his compliment, but I stilled myself and focused on my job. "What's your name, Miss? Come over and bring the drinks," Mr. Johnson gestured for me to bring the
