Lori’s POV

A dark gleam flashed on his eyes as Lucas’s smirk widened. He guided me out by placing his palm firmly against the small of my back.

I was putting on a denim jacket, but the heat from his touch burned into my skin.

I was surprised to find out that his dorm room didn't look like a typical college boys own. There was no trace of dirtiness anywhere. In fact, it smelled of cedar wood and laundry detergent.

However, immediately his door closed behind us, the charming casualness disappeared.

He rushed to where I was standing. His large frame completely blocking out the light from the hallway. While his hands came up to frame my face, and his thumbs wiping away the streaks of my smudged mascara.

"Let me guess. You are still thinking about whatever made you so angry," Lucas murmured, his eyes looking right through me. "And another guess is that it is a guy."

"You’re not completely wrong," I breathed, my heart slamming against my ribs. "But I want to forget. I want... I want to wake up tomorrow morning with a different kind of thought."

Immediately he leaned down, his lips brushed against mine in a slow tease. It made me whimper. I pulled him closer, wrapping my arms around his neck. I desperately needed the distraction.

He tasted like whiskey and dark promises. But as his hands slid down to my waist, gripping my hips to lift me onto the edge of his desk. A sudden wave of panic cut straight through my anger.

I pushed gently against his broad chest. "Lucas, just wait."

He stopped instantly. His breathing was heavy, his dark eyes hooded. "What's wrong?"

"Errmmm... I need to tell you something," I bit down on my lips, "I've never done this before. I'm a virgin."

I expected him to pull away. I was waiting for the player reputation to kick in. Maybe for him to decide I was too much drama or too much commitment for a simple hookup.

His whole mood changed instantly.

The air in the room grew heavy and thick. The relaxed, patient hockey captain disappeared. And replacing it is a dominant male which made me shudder. His fingers excitedly dig in my skin while tightening the grip on my hips.

"A virgin?" Lucas pushed his body closer to mine and then his thighs parted my legs. I looked up at him and noticed a wild hunger flared in his eyes. "Why are you telling me this now, Lori?"

"Is it a problem?" I whispered. I suddenly noticed how big he was compared to me.

"No," he growled. Then his lips took mine with a sudden intensity that stole the breath right out of my lungs. "It’s not a problem. But it means you’re mine tonight. Entirely mine."

A blur of sensations overwhelmed me the next hour. I was completely unprepared for it. Lucas was nothing like Travis. Where Travis was hesitant, polite, and ultimately selfish, Lucas was a force of nature. He dictated exactly how and when I moved beneath him.

It felt like a total surrender; it wasn’t just sex. Like he was marking a territory with every touch. It left me completely breathless and trembling. He was demanding, and fiercely dominant. He whispered d dark, possessive commands into my ear that made my blood run cold and hot all at once.

The room was silent, except for our ragged breathing by the time it was over. Lucas lay beside me. With one heavy arm cuddling my waist, he closed his eyes as his chest rose and fell.

My body was aching in places it never had before as I laid there staring at the ceiling. My heart was pounding a frantic rhythm. The anger which had fueled me to come here was gone. And replaced by it was a sudden, terrifying realization.

Who the heck is this guy?

On campus, Lucas wore a golden-boy athlete mask. But the man next to me was unpredictable. He was intense, and far too much for me to handle.

I had wanted revenge. But I had jumped straight into the deep end of an ocean I didn't know how to swim in.

I lifted Lucas’s heavy arm off my waist carefully. He let out a low grunt and stirred. But didn't wake.

My legs felt like a jelly. While my heart was in my throat, as I scrambled off the bed. I gathered my crumpled dress, my underwear, and my denim jacket from the floor. I was shaking violently as I threw them back on. I didn't even dare to use his bathroom to fix my hair.

After grabbing my keys from his nightstand. I took one last look at the sleeping hockey captain. He looked so peaceful now. However, the memory of his dominant, wild grip on my wrists made me shudder.

After quietly unlocking his dorm door, I stepped out into the empty hallway. Then I bolted. Running down the stairs and out into the night. I was desperate to escape the touch of a man who was entirely too dangerous for his own good.

***

I had sneaked in around 3 am. I climbed into my bed after scrubbing Lucas’s cedar wood scent off my skin until my flesh was raw. Then I collapsed into a fitful sleep.

I gave my virginity to a stranger. A notorious playboy. Elena’s ex.

Realizing this wanted to make me pull the duvet over my head and disappear. I had wanted to take revenge against them. But instead, I ended up handing total control over to a guy who looked at me like I was a prize he’d just won on the ice. Still fresh in my memory, is his heavy hands and his rough, dominant whispers. While the wild intensity in his eyes sent a frantic shiver straight down my spine.

"I think she's awake. I heard her groaning."

Jessica opened the door opened and strode in. She looked entirely too energetic for a Saturday morning.

Ann was following close behind. She was holding a mug of black coffee and a bottle of ibuprofen.

They both sat on the bed almost at the same time. Their expressions were a mix of fierce worry and burning curiosity.

"Drink this," Ann handed me the pills and the mug. I swallowed them gratefully. "Now, talk. Yesterday you ran out of here like the place was on fire. And we saw Travis leave your room looking like he’d seen a ghost. Lori... what the hell happened?"

LoriI tried to wipe the tears from my face before Ann could walk into our dorm room, but I was already too late. She caught me dead in the act, my sleeve still pressing against my wet eyes. She quickly crossed the room and sat down right beside me on the mattress, wrapping a comforting arm around my shoulders. “Oh, Lor... what’s wrong? Don’t tell me you’re still spiraling over the cheerleading stuff?”I looked down at my palms, my vision blurring again. No matter how many pep talks I got from my roommates turned best-friends, there was no way I was getting over losing my spot on the squad anytime soon. It had only been a few days since I got discharged from the hospital, and every single time I thought about it, it felt like someone was violently twisting a knife directly into my chest.Ann took my shaking hands in hers and gave them a gentle squeeze. “How about we try to distract you with something else today? We can go see a

LucasI pictured my head coach’s face on the leather surface of the heavy bag, throwing hard, vicious combinations until my knuckles throbbed beneath the tape. The bastard had completely rejected my appeal this morning. To make things worse, he decided my punishment wasn’t enough. He added an extra bench day, making it two days of watching my team from the stands. It was a total disaster for my draft stock. If I couldn't be on the ice to burn off the rage, the walls inside my own head started closing in on me. I didn’t care about wiping off the sweat that was dripping down my jaw and had completely soaked my shirt. I kept hammering the bag until my lungs burned and my chest tightened so hard I could barely catch a breath. Finally, I tore my gloves off, grabbed my water bottle, and aggressively chugged the entire thing in a few heavy swallows. A high pitched giggle fluttered beside me. I turned, only to

LoriI saw Jessica and Ann run into the room through a terrifying blur of spots and watering eyes. They threw themselves onto Travis, screaming and ripping at his arms with everything they had. They pulled and clawed at his wrists until his fingers finally snapped away from my skin. The moment the pressure released, I slumped back against the pillows, coughing so violently that my chest burned. I couldn't breathe. I genuinely thought I was going to pass out right there.“What the hell is wrong with you?” Jessica shrieked, her face pale, her eyes wide with absolute shock.“Were you seriously trying to strangle her?” Ann yelled, stepping between Travis and my bed.“This is absolutely none of your business, you bitches!” Travis roared, his face twisted into an ugly, sweaty mask. He took a menacing step toward them, completely unhinged. “Leave me the hell alone with my girl. We aren't done talking.”I kept my hands pressed flat against my throat, trying desperately to force air back int

LoriThe fake smile completely slipped off my face the exact second the hospital door swung open.Ann and Jessica had called me last night, crying and apologizing over the phone for not making it to the hospital sooner. They had promised they would be here first thing in the morning. Because of that, I had spent the last twenty minutes practicing my brightest, most carefree smile in the reflection of my phone screen. I wanted to prove to them that I was totally fine. I absolutely hated it when Jessica worried too much about me.But it wasn't my best friends who walked through the door.It was Travis. He was holding a massive bouquet of red roses, looking around the room with a nervous, guilty squint.“What the hell are you doing here?” I snapped, the words cutting through the quiet room like ice.“Cliché,” he muttered, trying to sound casual as he stepped forward and set the flowers down on the plastic rolling table near my bed. “Honestly, Lori, I was expecting you to say exactly that

LoriI woke up to a searing pain around my ankle and knees. Blinking my eyes open, they met white ceiling. A deep frown pulled at my face. This definitely wasn't my bedroom. There were no cute, glow-in-the-dark star stickers scattered across the drywall here.It was only when the harsh scent of antiseptic hit my nose that the memory of the fall during the cheerleading practice came flooding in. I gasped, instinctively trying to bolt upright, but a sharp spike of pain shot through my leg, forcing me back down. Shaking, I managed to prop myself up on my elbows. My right leg was completely buried under a thick, rigid bandage, elevated on a stack of stiff pillows.I stared down at it, my mind racing. How the hell did a mistake like that happen? Our bases were solid. We practiced those exact landing formations a hundred times a week. The girls on the bottom didn't just drop people. Unless I had been too distracted. My brain had been a complete mess ever since my birthday night. It’s not

LucasI was supposed to be sweating over what the head coach was going to do to me. He had already given me a final warning the last time I let my temper get the best of me on the ice. But when that bastard came at me from behind, I couldn't hold back. I didn't want to.But honestly, the looming suspension wasn't what was actually occupying my mind. What was really stuck at the back of my brain was the scent of the sweetest girl I’ve ever had beneath me.Lori.Normally, if a girl panicked and bolted out of my dorm bed at three o'clock in the morning, leaving behind a complete mess of my sheets. I would have been pissed off. I would have blocked her number and forgotten she existed. But Lori was different. I couldn't get her out of my head. I had spent the whole day staring at her, first in the cafeteria, and then from across the stadium during the game. It had taken every single ounce of my willpower not to ignore the plays entirely and just skate over to where she was sitting. This h

Lori’s POV My eyes snapped shut. I couldn't tell them about Lucas. Not yet. I couldn't even process it myself."Travis cheated on me," I croaked. My voice sounded raw, completely ruined. Lori’s POV Without waiting to see what he is about to do next, I took my car keys and ran out of the room. I rushed past Jessica and Ann in the hallway. Their worried voices shouted my name. However, I ignored them and plunged out of the apartment and into the cold night air. I knew how reck
