She mumbles the words with her eyes closed. I almost found it funny how she thought I would believe that she was asleep. Her heart rate was slower when she was properly asleep. Nothing like it was now, where it was practically humming.

It takes her a moment and just as we enter the packhouse, she opens her eyes.

“You can put me down.”

“I don’t want to.” I wanted to hold on to her for as long as I could

“Why now?”

“I’m doing this for you.”

“For me?” Her baby blues flash up to me. “Why me?”

"So that we will never be ripped apart." I groan, because she didn't know what she would experience if I died.

“Elsa, they will keep coming. The problem is, they think we won’t fight back. They think we will stay here, hiding out, waiting for them. They believe that they have made us like this.”
