Lana’s POV

The room was small, dim, and reeking of stale wine and fear. My body trembled uncontrollably as I crouched beneath the bed, my skin burning as if fire had found a home beneath it. Whatever they’d forced into me was still working through my veins — a heat that didn’t feel like mine. My wolf spirit writhed inside, claws raking at the walls of my consciousness, desperate to shift, to protect me. But the drug smothered her howls like smoke choking out a flame.

I bit my lip to stay quiet. Every breath felt like it might betray me.

From above, laughter sliced through the air.

“You think you’re so smart, huh?” Beau’s voice was thick with mockery. He was close — too close. I could see his boots pacing near the edge of the bed.

Dora’s giggle followed, low and cruel. “Look at her, Beau. The perfect little saint of the class, trembling like a leaf. I almost feel bad for her… almost.”

Their laughter tangled with the faint sound of a phone recording. The red light from the device blink

Damon’s POV The quiet of the room was a fragile thing, broken only by the sound of our breathing. I couldn’t look away from Lana. She was still pale, her eyes wide with the residual fear of my words, but there was a new trust there, too. She had handed me her terror, and I was holding it, keeping it safe. My wolf, a usually restless presence in my chest, was calm for once, soothed by the act

Lana’s POV The heavy door to our suite clicked shut, finally sealing out the chaotic aftermath of breakfast. I leaned back against it, letting out a long, weary breath. The air still felt charged with the ghosts of Dave’s roar and Sheila’s icy silence.Damon was already pouring himself a drink at the minibar, his back to me. His shoulders were tense.

Sheila's POV The door to the sitting room clicked shut behind us, sealing out the awful tension of the dining area. I walked on unsteady legs to the large window, pressing my forehead against the cool glass. I could see my own pale, shaky reflection staring back. The fight to keep the tears in was a physical ache in my throat.

Dave's POV A chuckle bubbled up in my chest, then burst out of me—a loud, astonished sound that echoed in the quiet dining room. I slapped my good hand on the table, making the silverware jump.“She’s jealous!” I said the words, feeling incredible in my mouth. “She’s actually jealous! All this time, all I had to do was get with another woman, and it finally got a real reaction out of her!”The world suddenly looked different. The colors were brighter. The weight I’d been carrying for six years felt lighter. This was the key. This was the crack in her icy armor.I started pacing, my mind racing a mile a minute. “Okay, okay. So next time she tries to give me the cold shoulder, I’ll just… I’ll mention running into that girl from last night. Or maybe I’ll show up to the next pack gathering with someone on my arm. Yeah! I’ll make sure she sees. I’ll—”“Dave.”Damon’s voice cut through my planning, cold and flat, like a bucket of ice water dumped over my head. I stopped pacing and looked a

Damon's POVThe silence at the breakfast table was louder than any argument. You could feel the anger rolling off Dave in hot, bitter waves, and the cold fury coming from Sheila was like a block of ice. It was obvious something big had gone down between the two hotheaded mates. My wolf stirred, agitated by the hostile energy. I just wish their drama wasn’t ruining the first proper morning I had with Lana.Lana, sweet thing, tried to cut through the tension. She took a small bite of her eggs and put on a bright, fake smile. “This is really delicious,” she said, her voice a little too cheerful. “The hollandaise sauce is perfect.”Nothing. Dave stared at a fixed point on the wall behind Sheila’s head. Sheila took a slow sip of her orange juice, her eyes blank and far away. They might as well have been alone in the room.I leaned closer to Lana, my voice dropping to a murmur meant just for her. “Let them be, my love.”She turned her head and glared at me. And that look said everything. Do
