CLAIRE's POV

I set myself up in the middle of my room, a large open space, pushing away anything that would obstruct or hinder my movements. I was taking Alan's words to heart and my goal for today was to train, all by myself. I took his advice and began my routine, determined to learn how to move objects with my mind.

I got down on the floor and positioned my hands shoulder-width apart. My arms trembled as I lowered myself down, and I felt the strain in my muscles. I pushed myself back up, gritting my teeth as I felt the burn in my arms and chest. The sweat dripped down my forehead and onto the floor as I continued to struggle through the pushups.

I did my best to keep my mind focused on the task at hand, but my thoughts kept drifting. I thought about how badly I wanted to learn how to use my father's clan powers quickly and how frustrated I was that I hadn't yet mastered telekinesis.
