CLAIRE's POV

“I still cannot believe that this is goodbye,” Danica croaked as she forced a smile on her lips.

Her expression betrayed the smile on her lips, however. I could see the sadness in her eyes as they filled up with tears. It made my heart break, but I had no choice, I had to leave.

“Do you really have to go Claire?” Emmaline questioned and sniffled.

Her eyes were red and puffy from crying over night. Once my departure was announced a day earlier, Emmaline and Danica had rushed to my room to question me about it, and of course, they were not happy about my leaving the coven.

I pulled Emmaline into a hug and she hugged me back tighter, like it was the last time we were going to see each other. She eventually pulled away from me and looked at me for moments, her eyes searching and scanning my face.

“Will you drop by to visit us often?” she asked.
