I loved the freedom Liora Bay came with. It seemed as if not one person there knew who we truly were. For the first time in a long time, I wasn’t scared of going outside, I wasn’t scared that someone would shove a microphone or camera in my face.

It was fun, but Nikolai… he was acting odd. He was zoning out a lot and whenever I asked him if something was wrong, he always said it was nothing.

At first, I believed him.

But by the fourth day, it became impossible to ignore.

He was usually a quiet person but he was quieter. He was turning back to the same man I met on the jet six months ago. He stared at his phone longer than usual. Sometimes, late at night, he was on the balcony, smoking.

Something was very obviously wrong, but I couldn’t force it out of him at the end of the day.

So I just pretended like I couldn’t see him zoning out every two minutes like he had the weight of the world on his shoulders.
