Madison POV

Tears welled up in my eyes as I stared at Kingsley, torn between love and loyalty.

“You will regret this one day, believe me Madison. Can’t you come to think of it??” Kingsley yelled furiously and frustrated.

“What if Greg comes for you? Your life would be at stake and what do you think Zach can do about it??” The weight of his words slowly sank in, forcing me to confront the reality of my choices. I know I have a decision to make, one that would have far-reaching consequences for not only myself and Zach but also for Krystal since she’s part of me and also Kingsley’s gang.

He is right about them coming for me. “I don’t have to worry about Zach will do about it” I shook my head while he grabbed his arm to try to stop his bleeding.

“You better get that away from my sight now.” I said, referring to his arm.

“Madison, I am not leaving here until you make a decision to either be on my side or Zach’s side. You have to stop this your lovey-dovey stuff with him for your own good.”

“So if I am on your side what do I get? Another betrayal? Kingsley, you are a monster now and I still don’t know how you suddenly became this way. Look at your arm…you know what?.” I paused and took in a deep breath

“Leave my house, get out and don’t come back again because the only person I should be afraid of now is you Kingsley. You are working for Greg that is more like a pervert and is definitely after my life. I won’t be surprised if you kidnap me” I said with a shrug and he widens his eyes surprised at my reply

“Yes, I won’t be. Because I know some day, he would find out that the one you referred to as Raven is your cousin. The Doctor Madison that he is after and what do you think will happen after that??” I spat out and he looks at me dismayed.

“You see, you can’t imagine can you?” I scoffed

“I won’t let that happen…” he replied softly

“I don’t need to hear that from you. Leave…” I said to him and he makes a step closer to me making me yell out again; “I SAID LEAVE MY HOUSE!!!”

I cried out and fell back to the ground in tears.

Silence enveloped the room as the gravity of the situation settled upon them, neither of us willing to yield. The minutes stretched into what felt like an eternity as I and Kingsley engaged in a silent battle of wills, Our emotions swirling like a dangerous storm.

He took one last look at me before he turned around to leave and buried my face in my palm as I let the tears flow down freely on my face.

In this tense moment, I realized my love for Zach had put me at odds with the person I had once trusted the most. The reality of my forbidden romance now unfolded before me in its raw, unfiltered form, begging me to choose between the life I had always known and the passionate love that had captured my heart.

Zach is just too good for me to let go.

After laying on the ground for over 30 minutes, I remembered I have to be in the hospital so I lazily pulled myself up from the ground and went to the kitchen to return my coffee so that I can leave.

Kingsley POV

I angrily went into my car and gripped the steering wheel tightly in my hands. I hate that this is happening now. Why????

Why Zach of all people Madison??

All I am trying to do is to protect you and I never intended to hurt you.

Now she won’t believe me again, I am slowly losing my loved ones. I let my head fall on the steering wheel as I let out a loud groan.

My phone rang the next minute and I took it out of my pocket to see the caller; GREG

What happened?

Has he probably found out I also lied to him about Madison.

I took a deep breathe before I answered the call, “Boss…” I called lowly

“Where did you go to? I need to see you now in my office” he said, his voice cold and rumbling.

He didn’t wait for my response before he ended the call.

“Damn it.”

Madison POV

In less than an hour, I pulled the car to a halt before the hospital as I strolled with my bag in my hands. I walked in with my head low, I hope Zach is asleep now because I can’t see him with my face like this.

I walked to one of the nurses to ask about her about him, “The last time I checked up on him, he was asleep Doctor.” She replied

“Oh, oh okay thank you.” I replied and walked away.

She said ‘the last time’

I’ll just go see for myself now how he is doing.

I took a walk to his wars and stood by the door looking in through the glass.

Zach is asleep like a baby, I thought if going in but I changed my mind. I don’t want to bother him so, I made a step to walk past his ward.

“Madison!!” I hear Zach yell my name as I walk past his door. I froze my steps and turned to his door to walk in.

“Close the door behind you, I need to talk to you” he said and I feel my heart skip a beat

What is he possibly going to talk about?

Kingsley?

I blinked rapidly and did so then took slow steps to him, “How are you? I heard you’ve been asleep. Do you need anything…water? Food? Wine?” I asked in a second, all through the time, I never looked at his face but my hands.

“Look at me “ he said, his voice cold and soft

“Do you need anything?” I asked lowly and he pulls me by my left hand and sat me down next to him.

I fold my toes in my shoes and took my lower lip into my mouth as Zach places my hand on his chest…

“Is it your medical condition?” I asked

“Look at me.” He repeated and I did so with a sigh.

“Madison…you don’t look okay. What happened to you?” he asked, his voice soft and his facial expression shows he is worried.

I faked a smile and nod my head, “Nothing really, I…uh ….” I stuttered

“Did you cry?” he asked as he sat up on his bed

“What? Why would you ask me that?” I asked faking a laugh

“Madison, it is written all over your face. Did you?” he asked again

“I only over slept…that’s all” that was the lie I could come up with.

“You should know me by now, I can find out if you really overslept or over cried. Who was the jerk that hurt you?” he asked and I slapped my forehead pulling my hands away from his chest.

“Calm down, it’s nothing really” I whispered softly to him as he cups my cheek and gazed into my eyes.

I can’t help this, Zach’s ocean blue eyes penetrated into mine and the thought of loosing Zach flushed into my head and I can feel tears well up in my eyes.

“You see it! What happened” he demanded and I back away wiping my cheek.

“Uhm, I-I- I was just thinking about you” I said and he sighed heavily as he pulled me closer to himself and rested my head on his chest

“I knew it, you care so much about me but I won’t tolerate you crying because of me. Madison, this face doesn’t look good on you, though you are cute with it but it’s breaking my heart to see you cry so please stop it okay?” he said softly to my ears as he stroked my cheeks.

I nodded my head and pulled him more closer to me, “I see, I know what you want” he chuckled and I pulled away with a carved brow.

“What?” I scoffed, a smile slowly appearing on my face

“I need to ask you a question first, do you want to be with me or you are scared of being with me?” he asked and my face fell immediately.

I was never expecting his question.

Not this kind of question. My lips parted slowly, I am shocked on how I can’t answer his question.

I am definitely scared, but still…I think I want to be with him anyway.

“Use your words, baby.”

“I-I don’t know. I am just confused” I stuttered out.

“I feel like I am breaking the law being with you” I admit and his face falls.

“But to be honest with you Zach, I am confused. Why do keep coming back? Why are you still staying after everything that has happened?”

“I don’t know either, but I am not confused. I know what I want” he simply replied

“I don’t.” I shortly replied as I got up from the bed and walked around.

“Could you just leave me alone for sometime, a little while...I think I need some space to clear my thoughts” I said and he stared at me without saying a word.

“I promise you, I’ll come back. I think I’d get sick mentally anytime soon. I just need to get over some thoughts, Zach.” I said and his eyes softens

“Okay.” He says and I smiled

“Thank you” I replied and turned away to the door to leave. I walked out his room feeling like a weight had been lifted off my shoulder.

I was about making my way to the cafeteria, maybe I could hang out with Krystal until some jumpy blonde with too much makeup on her face approached me.

“You are the doctor aren’t you?” she asked blinking rapidly at me.

Her eyelashes like wings flapping. I squeezed my face as I stepped back feeling disgusted by her makeup. “Yes I am, are you a patient?” I sarcastically replied.

“Hell no, where is my Fiancée???” she barked at me and I instantly wanted to put a muzzle on that thing.

“Where is who???” I retorted

“Zach Westley, my Fiancée!”

Fiancée??

I can feel my heart shattering slowly as my lips slowly parted ways.
