Chapter 39: Her Principles

As George wanted to talk about a certain subject, he did so cautiously, mindful of Sherly's feelings and the delicate nature of their conversation. He wanted to know this, but he didn't want Sherly to feel offended.

"Babe," he called her and began to tentatively say, "I couldn't help but wonder... why didn't you investigate what happened to me? I mean, I know you have the means to find out, but you didn't. Why?"

His words were careful, laced with a hint of apprehension, as he feared Sherly might misunderstand his question or take offense.

As George questioned Sherly about why she didn't investigate what happened to him, despite having the power to do so, Sherly paused, reflecting on her principles.

If it were the others asking her like this, Sherly would feel offended, but it was George. Also, with George's words, she could feel how cautious he is. Sherly could feel that he didn't want her to feel offended. However, this matter is easy to answer, and since it's George who's asking h
