LOGINYou're really suing us?"
"Yes," I said. "Especially since you've been violating your own morals clauses for the last year while you've been destroying my marriage." "Look, man, this was all just in fun," he said. "We didn't intend to destroy your marriage." "Well, what the hell did you think was going to happen?" I asked. "Did you honestly think I was just going to sit back and applaud you for fucking my wife and using her as a goddamn sperm receptacle? Sounds to me like you've been reading too many stories on the Internet." "Look, man, we can work through this," Ben pleaded. "A lawsuit like that could ruin us." "Not my problem, asshole," I said. "You shouldn't have turned my wife into your whore. Goodbye." I slammed the phone down and grabbed a beer, then headed to the balcony for a smoke. I didn't hear anything from the cheaters until Wednesday, when they were served at Simone's office. "I don't believe you actually did it," Linda said. "You didn't even give her a chance to explain. Do you have any idea how humiliated she is right now?" "I really don't give a shit," I said. "She didn't care about humiliating me with her cheating, so I simply don't give a fuck. Goodbye, Linda. Don't call here again," I added, slamming the phone down. God, that felt so good. A few moments later, I got another call. I recognized the number as coming from Ben's office. "WHAT?" I yelled as I answered. "You motherfucker," he hissed. "I'm going to kick your ass. How dare you sue me! Simone wanted to fuck us all, you stupid shit. Maybe you should've taken care of her better." "Bring it, asshole," I said. "How dare you fuck up my life. Now I'm going to ruin yours." I slammed the phone down and called Jenny to tell her about Ben's threat. "Good," she said. "I'll file for a temporary restraining order against Simone as well as her cohorts today. I'll make sure you get a copy of the order. Remember what I said. Don't do anything stupid." "What if he comes after me?" I asked. "Make sure that you have witnesses and don't instigate anything," she said. I understood what she meant. Later that afternoon, there was a knock on the door. True to her word, Jenny had filed the TRO and a courier had just delivered my copy. I decided to hedge my bets somewhat and purchased a small motion-activated camera to cover my front room. I also had a nice Louisville Slugger close to the front door just in case. I figured if Ben or his accomplices intended to make good on their threats, I needed to have something for evidence, and I needed some means of protection. Things remained relatively peaceful for the rest of the week. Thankfully, I didn't hear anything from Linda, Simone or her boyfriends. Until Saturday night, that is. I was sitting on my balcony nursing a beer and a cigarette when I heard my doorbell. That was followed up by pounding on the door. I ground out my cigarette and went into the front room and looked out the peephole in the door. Sure enough, it was Ben, and I could make out someone with him. The pounding continued. "Open up, Jacobs," he shouted. "I can hear you in there. Open up so I can kick your fucking ass." "You're violating a restraining order. I'm calling the cops right now, Ben," I said as I dialed 911 on my phone. "You wouldn't dare," he yelled. "Open up now, Goddammit!" he yelled. "Take your medicine like a man, you little wimp." When the 911 operator came on, I told them what was happening at my door. "We've gotten a couple calls for that area and have already dispatched a couple cruisers to your location," the operator said. "In the meantime, do not open the door until officers arrive." "Thank you," I said before ending the call. The pounding continued and I began to wonder if he was going to break the door down. I clutched the bat tighter and waited. "Goddammit, open up before I break this fucking door down," he yelled as he pounded on the door. I heard a commotion and looked through the peephole. I saw two very large police officers putting cuffs on Ben and the other man with him. One of the officers knocked on my door. "Police," the officer said. I opened the door to see the two men in cuffs. Ben looked at me as the officer led him back to his cruiser. "I'm not finished with you, wimp," he yelled. "I'm going to come back and kick your fucking ass." I looked back at the officer. "Do you know this man?" he asked. I nodded my head and showed him the copy of my TRO. He read it over and spoke into his radio before addressing me again. "We'll be taking them downtown," he said. "They'll be spending the night with us. Can you tell me what this is all about?" He took copious notes as I told him my story. "Thank you for your cooperation," he said when I finished. "I don't think he'll be giving you any more trouble for a little while." I closed the door and locked it before heading back out to my balcony with a fresh beer. The next day, the news of Ben's arrest hit the papers. "Hedge Fund CEO Arrested," the headline read. The short story below didn't go into a lot of detail, but something told me this was just the beginning of his downfall. After doing a search on the Internet, Jack learned that the woman Michael was seeing was married, and her husband didn't take too kindly to being cuckolded. As a result, both Michael and the woman ended up with a .45 caliber slug in their heads and the husband ended up in jail. Jack, of course, wasn't surprised at all. Once a cheater, always a cheater. Linda kept promising to visit the children, but she never came. Again, Jack wasn't surprised, and it wasn't long before the kids just laughed off her promises as more smoke and mirrors. Over time, the cards and letters became less frequent and after three years, stopped coming altogether. Jack, on the other hand, had met Chloe, a blonde beauty who original hailed from Adelaide. She moved to Melbourne five years earlier after her husband left her for another woman. The two of them dated for nearly a year before he asked her to marry him. "Are you sure about this, Jack?" she asked. "You know I can't have kids and that's what caused
I had hoped to share this bit of good news with you, but as always, you chose to spend your evenings with Freeman and I never got to celebrate my promotion with you."You will also find in my top desk drawer a signed quit claim deed. I am leaving you with the house and I have left you with half of our accounts. I have taken my name off everything. It's all yours now. Enjoy."By the way, if you decide to fight the divorce, you may find yourself the next Internet porn sensation. With the quit claim deed, you will find a packet that contains some rather explicit pictures of you and Freeman together. Those are just a few of the snippets I have from the many hours of video that were taken of the two of you."I'd like to say the last 15 years have been wonderful. Unfortunately, I can't. Granted, the first 13 or so were pretty good, and I gave you all the love I could muster, but apparently, it wasn't enough for you. The last year or so, you've been drifting away and rebuffed all my efforts
*****This is the fourth installment of a new series that deals with the consequences of cheating. The current plan is that each entry in the series can be read as a separate story****** **********. 18+ ****** Linda Richards pulled into her driveway and hit the button to open the garage door. She pulled inside as she always did, and noticed that her husband's truck wasn't in the garage. Perhaps he took the kids out for dinner, she thought. It was a bit late for them to be out, she thought, but then again, the kids didn't have school tomorrow since it was Friday night. She smiled at the idea of Jack taking care of the kids for a change, since she often felt as though she was taking care of three children, not just two. She got out of her car and went in the house. It was already dark outside, and the interior of the house she shared with her husband and two children seemed eerily quiet without the lights and the noise of video games blaring from their large-screen television. She re
A little more than a year after we married, Brenda gave birth to twins, a boy, Christopher, and a girl, Julie. Life went on the Carson household, and I found that I enjoyed being a father. One day, about ten years after we married, there was a knock on the door. I opened the door and saw Kirsten standing on the porch. She looked like she had been through a wringer. "Ned, it's good to see you again," she said. "Good to see you, Kirsten," I answered. "Please, come in." She walked in and looked around. I invited her to sit down and introduced her to Brenda and the kids. "So, what brings you here, Kirsten?" I asked. "It's Nikki," she said. "You were right about Ramon." "Oh?" I asked. "What happened?" "It took about five years, but he eventually used her up just like you said he would," she told us. "She ended up on the streets turning tricks to support her habit. Unfortunately, prostitutes her age don't fare too well on the street for very long. She managed on her own for quite
After reading all the filings and the counselor's report, I feel I have no choice but to grant the plaintiff's petition for divorce as filed," he said, pounding his gavel. "Good luck, Mr. Carson, and thank you for your service to this community," he added. I looked at Nick in surprise. "Did we just win?" I asked. He smiled as he looked at me. "We sure did," he said, shaking my hand. "Congratulations, Ned, you're a free man now." Kirsten gathered her things and walked over to us. "Congratulations, Ned," she said, extending a hand. "You got your pound of flesh. I hope you're happy now." I accepted her hand and shook it. I knew that losing a case like this wasn't easy for her. "No, I'm not happy," I said. "I haven't been happy for quite a while." I pulled a DVD out of my briefcase and handed it to her. "You once said if I have anything to pass on to Nikki to let you know. Here's my final message to her. You can look at it if you wish, I don't care. I also have a cashier's check for h
Nick had been busy as well. After drawing up the heavily one-sided petition for divorce, he published it in the local paper and in the LA Times, twice a week for four weeks. Toward the end of the fourth week, he sent a courtesy copy to Kirsten, who wasn't very happy. She demanded a meeting with myself and Nick as soon as possible."What the hell is the meaning of this?" she demanded when we met in his conference room. "This is an insult, it's not a petition for divorce. Where the fuck do you get off by demanding a 75-25 split? With no support?""The real insult is what your client did to her husband, with your help, I might add. Since your client decided to abandon the marriage, my client and I both feel this is the most appropriate response," Nick said. "She hasn't even bothered to make arrangements to get her things out of my client's home.""My client hasn't even been served with papers yet," Kirsten hissed."That's because your client has been hiding in the Los Angeles area," Nick
