LOGINOver the course of the next few days, more articles came out, saying that a number of S&G's clients were leaving the company. It seems their clients felt they couldn't trust a company that ruined their employees'marriages. Naturally, this had an impact on the company's bottom line. Good, I thought.
I went back to work the following Monday. It was difficult, but I managed to get some work done. I never heard from anyone for about three weeks. Then I got a call from Jenny. "Good morning, Carl," she said. "How are you holding up?" "About as well as can be expected," I said. "Any word from Simone?" "Yes," Jenny said. "She's gotten an attorney and they've petitioned the court for marriage counseling. The judge agreed and has ordered six sessions beginning this week." "They can do that?" I asked. "Yes," she said. "And it would be to your benefit to show up. If you don't, the judge can hold you in contempt of court and even put you in jail." "There's no way I'm reconciling with that bitch," I told her. "I understand," Jenny said. "But you need to show up anyway. If the counselor sees there's no hope for reconciliation, she'll let the judge know." "Okay," I said. "Was there anything else?" "Yes," Jenny said. "Her attorney tells me that Simone is pregnant. If that's the case, the court won't do anything more until paternity has been established." "So I have to wait another eight or nine months?" I asked. "As of right now, yes," Jenny said. Crap. "If it's your child, you'll be ordered to pay child support. On a positive note, however, the judge has agreed to a legal separation, at least until she gives birth." "Wonderful," I said. Jenny gave me the address for the counselor and wished me luck. I wrote down the information and put it on my calendar. I decided that I would make it clear in no uncertain terms there was no way I would ever reconcile with the cheating slut. When I got to the counselor's office, I was ushered right in. A somewhat older woman looked at me over her glasses. Simone sat across from her in a love seat looking somewhat forlorn. I had a very bad feeling about this. The counselor introduced herself as Dr. Abigail Farnsworth and indicated I should sit next to the slut on the love seat. I chose instead to sit in a smaller, wooden chair placed at a 45 degree angle to the love seat. "Good to see you could make it, Mr. Jacobs," she said. "I understand I have no choice," I said, crossing my arms in front of my chest. "True," she said. "Still, I'm glad to see you here." She turned to Simone. "Tell me, Mrs. Jacobs, what do you hope to get from these sessions?" "I want to get back together with my husband," she said. "We're going to have a baby and I want to be a family again." I snorted in derision as she said that. Abigail looked at me. "And what do you hope to get out of these sessions, Mr. Jacobs?" she asked. "What I want is for you to realize there's no way I'm reconciling with... that," I said, nodding my head in Simone's direction. I saw her recoil when I did that. Abigail nodded her head. "Not even for the sake of the child?" she asked me. "I honestly don't think it's my child," I said. "If by some miracle it is, I'll pay child support and I'll do everything I can to be a father to it. But there's no way I'm reconciling with her. Period, end of sentence." "Not even for the sake of the child?" she asked. I pulled out my phone and brought up the videos that were sent to me. I showed them to Abigail. She was clearly disgusted with what she saw. When they finished, I put my phone back in my pocket. "I see you're married, Doctor," I said. "Tell me, if that was your husband in those videos instead of her, would you want to reconcile? And what if you learned he had been doing that to you for more than a year, and actually did it in front of you? Would you reconcile then?" "This isn't about me," she said. "This is about the two of you. And now you have a little one to think about." "Wrong, Doctor," I said. "She has a little one to think about. I don't believe her child is mine. In fact, I'd be willing to bet on it. I would like a few answers from her, though." Abigail thought for a moment, then nodded her head and looked at Simone. "I think he's entitled to some answers, don't you?" she asked Simone. She looked down, sheepish, her face burning with embarrassment. She finally looked up at me before answering. "I... I guess so," she said. Abigail looked at me before speaking. "The floor is yours," she told me. I nodded my head in thanks nd turned back to Simone. "The night of the party, you knew what was going to happen, didn't you?" I asked. She nodded her head. "Yes," she said. "And that's the real reason you didn't want me to go with you, isn't it?" I asked. "Yes, it is," she said. "I tried to warn you that you wouldn't have any fun." "And you were right," I said. "It was the absolute worse night of my life. After doing a search on the Internet, Jack learned that the woman Michael was seeing was married, and her husband didn't take too kindly to being cuckolded. As a result, both Michael and the woman ended up with a .45 caliber slug in their heads and the husband ended up in jail. Jack, of course, wasn't surprised at all. Once a cheater, always a cheater. Linda kept promising to visit the children, but she never came. Again, Jack wasn't surprised, and it wasn't long before the kids just laughed off her promises as more smoke and mirrors. Over time, the cards and letters became less frequent and after three years, stopped coming altogether. Jack, on the other hand, had met Chloe, a blonde beauty who original hailed from Adelaide. She moved to Melbourne five years earlier after her husband left her for another woman. The two of them dated for nearly a year before he asked her to marry him. "Are you sure about this, Jack?" she asked. "You know I can't have kids and that's what caused
I had hoped to share this bit of good news with you, but as always, you chose to spend your evenings with Freeman and I never got to celebrate my promotion with you."You will also find in my top desk drawer a signed quit claim deed. I am leaving you with the house and I have left you with half of our accounts. I have taken my name off everything. It's all yours now. Enjoy."By the way, if you decide to fight the divorce, you may find yourself the next Internet porn sensation. With the quit claim deed, you will find a packet that contains some rather explicit pictures of you and Freeman together. Those are just a few of the snippets I have from the many hours of video that were taken of the two of you."I'd like to say the last 15 years have been wonderful. Unfortunately, I can't. Granted, the first 13 or so were pretty good, and I gave you all the love I could muster, but apparently, it wasn't enough for you. The last year or so, you've been drifting away and rebuffed all my efforts
*****This is the fourth installment of a new series that deals with the consequences of cheating. The current plan is that each entry in the series can be read as a separate story****** **********. 18+ ****** Linda Richards pulled into her driveway and hit the button to open the garage door. She pulled inside as she always did, and noticed that her husband's truck wasn't in the garage. Perhaps he took the kids out for dinner, she thought. It was a bit late for them to be out, she thought, but then again, the kids didn't have school tomorrow since it was Friday night. She smiled at the idea of Jack taking care of the kids for a change, since she often felt as though she was taking care of three children, not just two. She got out of her car and went in the house. It was already dark outside, and the interior of the house she shared with her husband and two children seemed eerily quiet without the lights and the noise of video games blaring from their large-screen television. She re
A little more than a year after we married, Brenda gave birth to twins, a boy, Christopher, and a girl, Julie. Life went on the Carson household, and I found that I enjoyed being a father. One day, about ten years after we married, there was a knock on the door. I opened the door and saw Kirsten standing on the porch. She looked like she had been through a wringer. "Ned, it's good to see you again," she said. "Good to see you, Kirsten," I answered. "Please, come in." She walked in and looked around. I invited her to sit down and introduced her to Brenda and the kids. "So, what brings you here, Kirsten?" I asked. "It's Nikki," she said. "You were right about Ramon." "Oh?" I asked. "What happened?" "It took about five years, but he eventually used her up just like you said he would," she told us. "She ended up on the streets turning tricks to support her habit. Unfortunately, prostitutes her age don't fare too well on the street for very long. She managed on her own for quite
After reading all the filings and the counselor's report, I feel I have no choice but to grant the plaintiff's petition for divorce as filed," he said, pounding his gavel. "Good luck, Mr. Carson, and thank you for your service to this community," he added. I looked at Nick in surprise. "Did we just win?" I asked. He smiled as he looked at me. "We sure did," he said, shaking my hand. "Congratulations, Ned, you're a free man now." Kirsten gathered her things and walked over to us. "Congratulations, Ned," she said, extending a hand. "You got your pound of flesh. I hope you're happy now." I accepted her hand and shook it. I knew that losing a case like this wasn't easy for her. "No, I'm not happy," I said. "I haven't been happy for quite a while." I pulled a DVD out of my briefcase and handed it to her. "You once said if I have anything to pass on to Nikki to let you know. Here's my final message to her. You can look at it if you wish, I don't care. I also have a cashier's check for h
Nick had been busy as well. After drawing up the heavily one-sided petition for divorce, he published it in the local paper and in the LA Times, twice a week for four weeks. Toward the end of the fourth week, he sent a courtesy copy to Kirsten, who wasn't very happy. She demanded a meeting with myself and Nick as soon as possible."What the hell is the meaning of this?" she demanded when we met in his conference room. "This is an insult, it's not a petition for divorce. Where the fuck do you get off by demanding a 75-25 split? With no support?""The real insult is what your client did to her husband, with your help, I might add. Since your client decided to abandon the marriage, my client and I both feel this is the most appropriate response," Nick said. "She hasn't even bothered to make arrangements to get her things out of my client's home.""My client hasn't even been served with papers yet," Kirsten hissed."That's because your client has been hiding in the Los Angeles area," Nick
