Chapter 9 – I have never lose to anyone

The meeting began in the afternoon and was held in the confession. Bella was a bystander at the doorway, waiting for the meeting to end, but Mr. Wright asked his staff to let her in.

As Bella walked into the room firmly, everyone in it was admiring her outstanding beauty.

“Would you want a cup of coffee, Sir?” She gives him a kind grin.

“No,” he coldly refused her offer, and she grins and stands by his side. “Ms. Chen, you may sit next to me,” he offers, though she wants to deny him, she knows when to tease him and when not, so she obeys his command.

The meeting has consumed a long time while everyone was presenting their designs Bella was drowsy, her eyes are slowly shutting, she tries to fight from it but she fails.

Ezekiel notices Bella’s head was about to fall on the table, he placed his hand near her and catches her head. The speakers came to a halt since the designers were all staring at them, but Mr. Wright motioned them to continue. Mr. Wright places her head carefully on the table to not wake her.

Bella awoke five minutes later due to a loud tension in the room. She raised her head to see what was going on, her eyes widening when she discovered she had slept during the meeting; she glanced at Mr. Wright, who was seated next to her while everyone was arguing, and she embarrassedly smiled as he scowled at her.

She averted her gaze and listened to what was going on around her. She started up, but Mr. Wright's hand gripped her arm and said, "What are you planning to do?"

“I want to assist them to solve the problem,” she said firmly without looking at him.

“You will just embarrass yourself. How can a business graduate like you know about architectural designing?” he mocks her which made her face him.

“How did you know that I have a degree in business?” she doubted him, “I have my assistant to check your background,” he replied.

“So, you didn't even trust me from the beginning,” she concluded, “I'm only trying to explain that you can't be an ace at each area you go,” he replied.

“Did I say that I trusted you?” he questioned her.

Bella didn’t like to argue with him though Mr. Wright was a bit harsh to her, she just ignored him, she remarked, “just wait and you’ll see.” He let go of her hand and let her do what she’d like to do though he wants to annoy her he doesn’t like her to embarrass herself to everybody.

Mr. Wright was sitting quietly while watching them organize their designs, “this one should be changed into these,” he saw Bella pointing the draft.

After a few minutes, they already finished the task and inform their boss about it.

“Sir, we solve the problem with the help of your --- secretary,” Ian told him.

He nods and says, "The meeting has been adjourned; please leave your plate on the table and I will check on it."

Because of Ezekiel's solemn demeanor, everyone left the room with trepidation.

Mr. Wright was quiet while looking at Bella in the conference room, and Bella couldn't bear him, so she broke the silence. “Did I offend you in any way, sir?” she questioned.

“No, but it appears you intend to tarnish my company's reputation,” he remarked coldly.

Bella became enraged at his claim and said, "why would I do that?"

“Revenge,” he said as he rose and walked closer to her. “You're taking vengeance on me,” he replied emotionlessly.

“Why would I do that to your business? Sir, haven't you noticed that I always win between our fights, therefore I don't need to do that?” she giggles, looking him in the eyes.

“And I never lose to anyone,” she taunted as he took a step closer to her and moved his face very near to her face. Bella took a step back as he moved closer to her till she was cornered on the wall, “I will make you lose this time, Bella,” his velvet voice murmured on her ears which made her shiver.

When he brings his face extremely near to her and they feel each other breathe, her heart rate rises. “What—what are you trying to accomplish?” she stammers.

“I'm just trying to tease you,” he says with a grin. He left her astonished and returned to his office with the plate of his designers.

Bella rubs her chest and sighs deeply, “this man is driving me crazy,” she says quietly.

Luke waited at the doorway for Mr. Wright and greeted him as soon as he walked out. He was concerned as to why he was sweating and irritated, so he inquired, "Sir, did someone forget to turn on the air conditioner at the conference?"

He looked at his assistant and handed him the blueprints; he returned to his office and sat in his swivel chair.

Luke entered his office and placed the blueprints on his desk; Mr. Wright picked it up and checked the designs one by one, finding no errors. He placed the drawings in the folders and opened his computer to verify his fiancée's data.

“Have you discovered any new information on Bella Chen aka Chen Xiu Ying?” he inquired.

“That is all I know about her, Sir. Why did you inquire so abruptly?” He was curious.

“I have a sense there's something she's keeping hidden,” he concludes.

“I don't think she's concealing anything; why are you interested in her?” he questions.

“I'm not interested in her; I'm simply wondering why she knows about architectural design,” he explained gently.

“Sir, even though you deny it, I know a part of your heart cares for her; you simply don't want to accept it.” He makes an honest remark.

Mr. Wright's attention was drawn to Bella and the design department as they became noisy in the corridor. "Ms. Chen, this man is seeking for you," Clarisse said as the man approached Bella.

When the guy hugs his fiancée, Mr. Wright feels a squeeze in his heart, he locks his hands into a fist, and Luke speaks abruptly as he sees Mr. Wright's response after watching the scene.

“If you know it's yours, Mr. Wright, you have to fight for it. Don't let your uncertainty lead you to regret anything,” he says.

Clarisse went to the CEO's office to notify him that Bella and the man had already departed. When he learned the news from Clarisse, he became enraged.
