View MoreI am Samantha Perez.
I have big dreams for my parents. I want to be rich, so I applied and started working at a casino in Makati. That’s where I met the man who would steal my heart—and eventually break it. His name is Gabriel Bustamante, son of a wealthy billionaire. Handsome, strong, and a bit of a bad boy—he loved casinos. I’ve always been picky with men and never allowed myself to be fooled… but somehow, he was the only one I ever fell for. This is where my story begins.
“Samantha, the boss is looking for you,” one of my co-workers called out.
“Erika, just tell him I’ll be there later. I’m finishing something,” I replied.
“Hey, did you know the boss has someone with him—and he’s handsome,” Erika teased.
But I wasn’t interested.“Ugh, come on. I’m used to seeing faces like that every day,” I answered, unfazed.
Then suddenly, my boss walked in, and with him was a tall, handsome, and well-built man. I froze. I couldn’t stop staring at him as I cleaned the glass in my hand.
“Samantha, this is Gabriel. He’s the son of the casino owner's friend.”
“Hi, Samantha!” Gabriel greeted with a wink.
It took me a while to respond.
“Hey! He said Samantha!” Erika nudged me.
“Ah—hello…” I finally said. Then he took my hand and kissed it. I quickly pulled it back, my cheeks turning red from what he just did.
“By the way, Miss Beautiful, my name is Gabriel,” he said charmingly.
I pretended not to care.
“You heard that? Gabriel,” Erika whispered.
“Yeah, I heard him earlier. The boss’s friend,” I muttered.
“Oh, Samantha, take care of Gabriel later and give him a beer,” the boss instructed before leaving.
“Yes, Sir...” I replied. Erika couldn’t help teasing me.
“So busy, huh? LOL! Not too busy for someone handsome!”
“Be quiet, Erika! Someone might hear you—it’s embarrassing. Okay, fine, he is handsome. I just thought he’d be like the other guests we have here. Their faces get boring after a while.”
Meanwhile, Gabriel and his uncle were having a conversation while being given a tour of the casino.
“Tito, I like Samantha,” Gabriel said.
“I knew you’d say that. A lot of guys like her, but she’s picky. And it seems like she might like you too. But Samantha’s not like the other women here—she has big dreams for her family and doesn’t easily fall for men. She’s tough. One time, a guy tried to take her out—she beat him up,” his uncle shared.
“Really, Tito? Maybe I want to get beaten up too!” he joked.
“Are you planning to court her?” his uncle asked.
“Not yet, Tito. It’s too soon,” Gabriel said with a grin, and they both laughed.
“You haven’t changed—you’re still the same troublemaker Gabriel I know,” his uncle said.
“Looks like I’ll be coming here more often. Maybe I’m the one she’s waiting for,” Gabriel said.
“You’re still such a womanizer,” his uncle teased.
“Just a little. I’ve changed… a bit,” Gabriel laughed.
“Son, I have to go now. Just enjoy and play around here as much as you want. Samantha finishes her shift around ten. Sometimes she stays late if it’s busy. Alright, I’m off,” his uncle said as he left.
“Ah, sir… here’s your beer,” I called out to Gabriel while he was playing.
“Samantha, why’d you leave? You just wanted to come closer to me, didn’t you?” he teased playfully.
I smiled a little.
“Excuse me! I only came here because your beer was getting warm. I’m a cashier, and since it was taking you too long to show up, I brought it here,” I explained.“You don’t need to explain, Samantha.” He smiled again.
“Why are you smiling like that?” I asked as he took a sip of beer.
“Nothing. It’s just… you’re beautiful. Being grumpy doesn’t suit you.”
I raised an eyebrow and walked away.“I feel something strange… something different…” I muttered to myself.
“Shhh! Be quiet, Erika. He might hear you and think I like him!”
“Well… don’t you?” she asked.
“No! I’m not that easy. Just because he’s rich, handsome, and everything I’d want in a guy, doesn’t mean I’ll just fall for him. No way!”
“You’re such a good girl,” Erika smiled.
“Let’s clean up so we can finish early and go home,” I told our coworkers.
“No one’s coming home with you, right?” Erika teased again.
Right on time, it was ten o’clock and Erika had finished her shift. Gabriel, who had noticed I was getting ready to leave, went out and waited for me in his car. When he saw me walking out of the casino, he called out to me.
“Samantha! Samantha!”
As I walked, I heard someone calling my name. I looked around.
“Samantha! I’m here!” Gabriel waved from his car.
“If you think just because you have a car I’ll go with you, you’re wrong!”
“I just want to take you home. It’s late and there’s no one around—it’s dangerous,” he said.
“I’ll just walk and wait for a ride,” I replied.
As I walked, Gabriel suddenly got out of the car and followed me. Then he suddenly picked me up and carried me into his car.
“Is this a kidnapping?!” I shouted.
“How could I kidnap you? Do you even have money?” he laughed.
“Maybe you’re a rapist!”
“Do I look like a rapist? I just want to give you a ride, Samantha. Don’t flatter yourself.”
He seemed a little annoyed.“Fine. Just take me to Quirino.”
“You’re kidding. That’s just around the corner!” he laughed, realizing how close it was.
“Do you rent there?” he asked.
“Yes. We’re actually from Cebu.”
“That’s far. Alright, we’re here.”
He didn’t even open the door for me.“You went through all that trouble to drive me… should’ve just let me walk.”
“See you tomorrow night, Samantha.”
I got out without replying. But when I lay in bed, there was a strange giddiness inside me. I kept imagining his face, his body… even the scent of his cologne that had rubbed off on my clothes.
“I wonder if I’ll see Gabriel again tomorrow…” I whispered to myself, before finally drifting off to sleep.
Gabriel finally came home, but instead of getting angry, Samantha chose to ignore what she had seen earlier that day. She didn’t want to add to Gabriel’s worries.“Oh, my love, you’re home,” Samantha greeted him.“Why do you look so serious, my love? Is something wrong?” Gabriel asked, noticing her expression.“Nothing’s wrong. I just had a busy day. I cleaned the entire house,” Samantha explained.“So, would you like to hire another helper here at home so you won’t get too tired?” Gabriel asked with concern.“It’s fine, I can handle it. Besides, my mother helps me — though she’s getting old,” Samantha replied.“Then maybe we really should hire another helper so you can focus on Tintin, and someone else can take care of the housework,” Gabriel suggested.“I’m really okay, love, don’t worry about me. Would you like to eat?” Samantha asked.“Perfect timing — I’m starving. Come, let’s eat together,” Gabriel said.“I’ll eat later,” Samantha replied.“Alright, I’ll try your cooking. I know
“What now — have you done everything I told you to do?” Jennifer asked William.“Yes, Ma’am. It’s all done. I’m sure his woman will fight with him when he gets home. Gabriel hates women like that,” William said teasingly, raising an eyebrow.“I don’t think your plans will work, Ma’am,” William said, mocking her.“Oh, they’ll work. If I were the one to receive pictures like that, I’d be furious too. I’d get jealous — and of course, I’d fight with the man,” Jennifer said confidently.“That’s probably why Sir Gabriel left you, Ma’am,” William teased again.“Whose side are you even on? Why does it seem like you’re siding with his woman more than with me? I’m the one paying you!” Jennifer snapped angrily.“Come on, Ma’am! I was just joking — of course I’m on your side,” William said quickly, trying to calm her.“You’re really good at getting on my nerves, William. I’m this close to losing my patience with you!” Jennifer warned.“Please don’t be mad, Ma’am. I was only teasing,” he said apol
Gabriel was puzzled that Jennifer still hadn’t come home.“Yaya, hasn’t Jennifer come home yet?” Gabriel asked.“No, sir. She hasn’t,” the maid replied.“I really don’t understand that woman anymore. She’s always out somewhere,” Gabriel said in frustration.“Maybe, sir, it’s because you’re also not home most of the time. Maybe Ma’am just wants to make herself happy — to have fun and forget you for a while,” one of the maids commented.“Hey! Watch your words — that’s Sir Gabriel you’re talking to,” another maid scolded her.“Well, to be honest, I don’t really want her to stay here and be sad all the time. Wherever she’s happy, I’ll be happy too,” Gabriel replied calmly.Morning came, and William and Jennifer were still together — Jennifer couldn’t resist what William was doing to her.“William, wake up! It’s already morning,” Jennifer said in panic as she hurriedly got dressed. William got up, and Jennifer handed him a box containing some photos and money. When Jennifer arrived home, s
“I’m sorry, my love. I had to put Jennifer to sleep first, that’s why I called just now,” he explained. Samantha remained silent after hearing his words.“My love? Hey, my love?” Gabriel continued. “You’re getting me wrong. I know you’re jealous, but you’re mistaken. Nothing happened between us. She came home completely drunk and fell asleep. I just felt sorry for her, so I carried her to her room.”“Okay. I’m sorry, Gabriel, if my jealousy got the best of me again,” Samantha answered softly.“You don’t have to apologize. I know how much you love me — and I love you too, Samantha, and our child. Our situation is hard right now, but I promise you and Tintin, I’ll do everything so we can finally be together for good,” Gabriel promised.Gabriel then went back to check on Jennifer to see if she was really asleep. Suddenly, Jennifer called his name.“Stay beside me, Gabriel. Just for tonight, please…” she pleaded.Gabriel didn’t want to, but he gave in out of pity. He ended up falling asle
“What’s wrong with you? Aren’t you going back to America yet? William will soon find out who that woman is, okay!? You don’t need to return to America just to know who Gabriel’s woman really is. Why? Because William is the best spy I’ve ever met, and that’ll be easy for him,” said Erika.“What do you mean easy? It’s been so long and I still don’t know who Gabriel’s woman really is,” Jennifer said in frustration.“Well, you’re just being impatient. William’s only been here for less than a month — he’ll find out soon enough. And what will you do once you know who his woman really is?” Erika asked.“You know me, Erika. When I get angry, I’m different — I’ll make her suffer, a suffering she’s never experienced in her life,” Jennifer replied angrily.“That plan of yours is risky, especially since Gabriel is always watching over his woman,” Erika explained.“Nothing is difficult for me, Erika,” Jennifer answered.“You really are something, bestie — deadly,” Erika teased.“I may be deadly, b
"I have a plan, Erika," Jennifer said."I won’t confront Gabriel yet, even though I already know he has another woman. I’ll act as if nothing happened and pretend to be sweet to him again. I’ll tell him that I’ll return to America for a few months and disappear for a while so he’ll think I no longer care. Maybe then, he’ll bring his mistress to the house. When that happens, I’ll surprise them both — I’m sure that’s what he’ll do.""That could work," Erika replied, "but aren’t you tired, Jennifer? You’ve been stuck in this same place in his life for so long — always waiting and hoping he’ll come back. I really feel sorry for you.""Come on, Erika. This is me — Jennifer. You know I never back down, even back in high school. I’ll tell him that I just want us to spend a few months together, and after that, I won’t interfere or cause trouble anymore," Jennifer said with determination."Well, your plan sounds good, but it feels like you’re begging him," Erika pointed out."That’s how it is
