Flashback...

Olivia, Magnus's wife had just given birth to a beautiful baby girl in the middle of the night. Magnus held his baby girl in his arms and

smiled seeing how small and fragile she was.

"She looks like you, Olivia" comments Aiden.

"She is so small. I had forgotten how tiny these are" says Christine.

"These? That's your grandchild" says Aiden.

"It's still tiny," says Christine unbothered by Aiden for the first time in years.

Christine and Aiden leave the hospital after promising to come back in the morning. Magnus stayed back for a few minutes but left saying he will be back.

When will he be back? Olivia didn't dare ask.

Olivia looks at her baby girl and busts out crying. Magnus was manipulative and controlling and his sexual games were leaving Olivia physically drained. She didn't want to live with Magnus, especially with her child.

With a lot of difficulties, Oliver stands up from the bed and picks up her baby. She holds her close and starts to leave. She stops when she spots Magnus at the threshold.

"Where are you going?" Asks Magnus walking in.

"Please Magnus. I promise you will never hear from me. Please let me go" cries, Olivia.

"You are not going anywhere. Not with my child" says Magnus and tries to take the baby from Olivia.

"No, please let me go" cries Olivia and struggles to hold the baby close but she was no match for Magnus.

Magnus takes the baby in his arms and pushes Oliver to put a little distance between her and the crying baby.

Magnus tries to cool the baby down from crying and it somehow works. The baby stops crying from a little bounce.

"See Olivia. My baby is obedient already. She knows her father like discipline" says Magnus adoring his daughter. He turns his head towards Olivia and had wide eyes seeing her laying on the floor in a pool of her own blood.

"Olivia" calls Magnus but Olivia did not move a muscle.

Magnus held his baby in his arms as family and friends approached him to express their condolences at Olivia's funeral.

"She died at childbirth," said Christine to all the guests.

Asher, the chief of police. Christine, a reputed criminal lawyer covered their only son's crime at ease. But Magnus knew what he had done.

Flashback ends.

"It was an accident" whispers Magnus to himself and closes his eyes for the night. The whole day was way too eventful for Magnus and he wished a little sleep would relax him.

Magnus was almost asleep when he felt a tiny body next to him. He pulls Penny close and she snuggles on his chest. He kisses her forehead and holds the one thing he hoped to never lose.

The next day, Penny insisted on coming with Magnus to meet Aiden.

"You want to meet Genelia, don't you?" Asks Magnus.

"It's the same. Please daddy" says Penny with puppy eyes to which the big bad wolf couldn't say no. But it was not easy to take her with him. He was challenged with a dreadful task.

To get Penny dressed and the worst part was making her hair.

"Daddy I look ugly," says Penny looking at herself in the mirror. Her hair was a mess and Magnus screamed in anger when he couldn't pin her hair in one place.

"You look fine enough," says Magnus and carries her to his car.

"You don't know anything Daddy" giggles Penny.

Magnus creases his eyebrows at her which only makes her giggle more.

They both enter the hospital and Penny insists Magnus carry her.

"You should walk. You are a big girl" says Magnus.

"No," says Penny hugging his neck.

It was obvious she was scared and it was too early for her to be outside the house.

They both enter Aiden's room where Asher, Magnus's father was already present with Genelia.

"Please baby just a head" begs Aiden.

"God, Aiden. Are you still high on meds?" Says Genelia embarrassed side-eyeing Asher.

"I am high in love. Come here, sit on my face. Let me eat you" says Aiden and Magnus cover Penny's ears.

"Oh god, Aiden, please shut up and stop pulling me. You will hurt the baby" says Genelia and Aiden let's go.

"You are knocked up? Who is the father?" Asks Aiden and receives a hard slap from Genelia.

"I can't handle you this high. I am going to see you back home" says Genelia and starts to walk out of the room.

"Wait for me," says Penny and Wiggles off Magnus's hold. She rushes to Genelia. Genelia sits on the couch in the room and asks how she was.

"I was scared but that girl made it less scary," says Penny.

"What girl?" Asks Genelia.

Flashback

Aiden, the driver, and Penny in the car were cornered in a secluded alley. Aiden had called 911 and told them his location. The cops were on their way. All Aiden had to do is hold his ground till the cops show up.

Aiden told Penny to hide in the foot space and took out his gun to prepare himself to attack if attacked. Aiden counted the men and they were 8 of them.

"You said there was no suspicious car in the neighborhood," says Aiden to the driver.

"You should know better who to trust," says the driver who removes his gun and holds it at Aiden.

"She is just a child," says Aiden.

"We want her alive but not you," says the driver and shoots the gun but Aiden hits his hand away and the gun makes a hole in the car window.

Penny screams in horror and Aiden punches the guy unconscious.

"Penny I want you to stay hidden ok?" Says Aiden preparing himself for the attack.

"I am scared" cries, Penny.

"Don't worry. I won't let anything happen to you" says Aiden and the window beside him busts open. Penny screams again and covers her ears.

Aiden beats the men left and right. He shoots a few and gets hit by a bullet too. He then sees a man dragging Penny out of the car. He punches the man he was hitting and rushes towards Penny. He manages to free her and she runs to hide behind a dumpster.

Aiden was too beaten up but he was not giving up anytime soon. He falls to the ground when one of the men stabs him. He looks at Penny and then notices a girl. A girl pulls Penny close to her. Aiden rushes towards Penny and falls again unable to walk. At that moment Aiden saw her. Both looked into each other's eyes and without sharing a word, Aiden trusted her and she made a promise to protect Penny.

Who was she? Aiden didn't know.

Before Aiden could go unconscious, he heard sirens and the girl hid Penny inside her over large hoodie. She hid Penny inside her hoodie like a mother would hide her unborn child inside her belly.

Flashback ends.

"Do you know who those men worked for?" Asks Asher.

"Who else. They were Rafael's men" says Aiden.

"How are you sure?" Asks Magnus.

"Apart from being ugly as fuck. One fucktard screamed 'Rafael wants the girl alive' "says Aiden.

"He will have to pay for this," says Magnus.

Magnus leaves the room with Aiden and looks around to find Penny. He finds her in another room with the mute beaten-up girl.

The girl was fixing her hair which Magnus couldn't in the morning. Penny was seated in the girl's lap on the hospital bed and talking to her while she fixed her hair.

"She hasn't spoken since she came in and the bruises and cuts we found on her are from years of abuse. She doesn't have any identification on her so we are waiting for someone to place a missing complaint. We can charge the person who is looking for her with abuse and imprison whoever that monster is" says Aiden.

"Hmm.." says Magnus watching the girl intensely. There was something in that girl which intrigued Magnus.

"She doesn't have a home for now," says Aiden.

"And mom won't allow strays in her house," says Magnus examining the girl's physical features. She had removed her huge hoodie and was now in a white short cotton sundress.

"She is a human being not a stray. You mother and son need to learn to be a little sensitive" says Aiden and enters the room.

Magnus enters the room behind Aiden and sees Genelia watching them with a smile. As soon as the girl sees Magnus, she gets off the bed and kneels on the ground.

"Why did you do that?" Asks Penny and sits back on the girl's lap who was in the floor. Penny places her head on the girl's chest and the girl hugs her close.

"We have to leave, come Penny," says Magnus.

"Daddy, can we take her?" Asks Penny.

"No" simply says, Magnus.

"Ok," says Penny who was about to get up but the girl refuses to let go.

"Leave her," says Magnus but the girl shakes her head no.

"Why not?" Asks Magnus approaching the girl and the girl slides to the corner holding Penny. She turns away from Magnus with Penny in her lap.

Magnus was confused and angry. He holds her arm and turns her.

"Let her go," says Magnus gripping hard on her arm. The girl starts crying and shakes her head no.

"Why the fuck not?" Asks Magnus leaving her arm.

The girl places her hand on Penny's forehead and looks up at Magnus.

Magnus was confused about what she was trying to say.

Genelia approaches Penny and places her hand on her head.

"She is hot. She may be coming down with fever" says Genelia and pulls Penny close to her.

"Let us show her to a doctor," says Aiden.

Aiden and Genelia take Penny to the doctor leaving Magnus and the girl alone in the room.

Magnus approaches the girl and she looks away from him and covers her face. She was shaking her head no like she expected Magnus to hit her.

"Thank you," says Magnus, and the girl freezes. She moves her hand away from her face and looks up at Magnus.

"For saving Penny. Aiden said you hid her. Thank you" says Magnus. The girl was confused but Magnus didn't stay back to talk more. He leaves but looks back one last time.

She was not his problem and Magnus was sure someone was already looking for her. Seeing her bruises, he knew whoever that person looking for her was, he was definitely a monster or worse the devil himself.

Raffaele screams and empties his gun in air.

"FIND HER. I WANT HER IN FRONT OF ME LIKE SHE ALWAYS HAS BEEN. KNEELING FOR ME. BEGGING. PLEADING FOR DEATH. FUCKING FIND HER" screams Raffaele, a huge drug lord in America. He was filthy rich and feared by everyone including the cops. He was a worse person you would encounter, as he didn't care of anything or feared noone. He had one weakness, his one favourite toy which he loved to play with day and night. His wife, Daisy. And right now she was missing.

"How did she get out? The main door is always locked" says one of Raffaele's men.

"I left in a hurry when I got a call from James that Luca was caught by cops while that lawyer's daughter was being kidnapped. Had to get Luca killed before he opened his mouth. In a hurry I left my wallet which is missing money and left the main door open. I knew I had trained her better to leave me like this. FUCK, WHY DID YOU DO THIS TO ME DAISY?" Screams Raffaele in anger.

"And we didn't get the daughter of that lawyer" says one of the men.

"Fuck the lawyer's daughter. I want Daisy. I can't live without her. I need her. She is my drug. Fuck Daisy. Where do I find you" says Raffaele in frustration.

The wind whipped through the narrow path along the cliffs outside Paris, tugging at Ines’ coat as she pressed forward, clutching the child tightly. Her breaths came in shallow gasps, heart pounding. Every step took her farther from the city, farther from the tangled streets where Falvio could stalk them with patience and precision. “Keep moving,” she whispered to herself, rocking the child gently. “You’re safe. You’re safe…” She had left Analees and Raphael behind, deliberately splitting from them to draw any potential threat away. The plan was simple: get the child to safety, somewhere Falvio could not follow. Somewhere far from his calculating gaze. And yet… a sense of dread clung to her like a shadow. --- Far above on the ridge, Falvio watched, unmoving, the wind whipping his coat around him. His eyes followed Ines, unwavering, calculating. “So… she carries him,” he murmured, voice low, almost to himself. “And she thinks she can hide him from me? She underestimates the pa

The villa was quiet in the late afternoon, but the air carried tension thick enough to choke on. Shadows clung to the corners, stretching unnaturally as the sun slanted through the windows. Inside, Analees sat on the floor of the west wing, cradling her infant son. Every sound—footsteps on marble, a distant door closing, even the faintest creak of a shutter—made her jump. The baby stirred in her arms, sensing her unease. From somewhere in the hall, Ines’s voice erupted—a high, fractured sound, unconnected to reality. “They’re coming! They’re coming for him! No! I won’t let them!” She screamed again, banging against furniture. Glass shattered somewhere in the distance, and Analees flinched, clutching her son tighter. And then, unmistakably, the villa door opened with authority. Falvio Ashford stepped in, tall, composed, and exuding an aura of control. Every movement was deliberate, calculated. He closed the door behind him, and the sound echoed like a gunshot in the vaulted entry

The estate was quiet, deceptively so, as Falvio Ashford stood by the tall French windows of Gabin’s study. Beyond the manicured gardens, the distant lights of Paris glimmered faintly through the pre-dawn mist. The silence was almost suffocating, broken only by the occasional creak of an aged floorboard and the soft rustle of trees swaying in the early morning breeze. Falvio had arrived two days earlier and Gabin had welcomed him warmly, offering the usual distractions of estate hospitality—fine whiskey, sweeping lawns, and the heavy weight of family history—but Falvio had no intention of idling. He spent the evenings reviewing maps of the Marne outskirts, cross-referencing addresses, and memorizing the layout of Raphael and Ines’s villa. The villa had become a fortress in his mind, each corridor and wing cataloged, each shadow scrutinized. Falvio’s obsession was quiet but relentless. He did not sleep much; he walked the estate at night, drinking in the faint glow of Paris and imag

“Falvio,” greeted Raphael, forcing a smile that didn’t reach his eyes. “What a surprise.Didn't expect to see you here .” “I go where truth takes me, Raphael. And lately, truth seems to be hiding here" says Falvio entering the villa. That voice—controlled, unhurried, dangerously calm—made Raphael’s stomach twist. He tried to laugh. “You’ve been reading too many thrillers.” Falvio’s gaze didn’t waver. “I wish it were fiction.” The air between them grew heavier. In the distance, a bird sang and fell silent. From somewhere deep inside the villa came the faintest echo—wood creaking, a door settling. Raphael prayed Falvio hadn’t noticed. Ines appeared in the doorway, robe tied hastily over her nightdress. “Falvio?” she breathed. “You—you're here?” Falvio offered a thin smile. “Bonjour, Ines. You look… startled.” “I am,” she admitted softly. “You could have written ahead.” “I didn’t want to be expected,” he said, stepping closer. “Sometimes people prepare too well when they know I’m

The skyline of New York City glimmered under the late afternoon sun, the steel and glass towers reflecting the fading golden light like shards of a shattered mirror. In his high-rise office, Falvio stood by the window, the city sprawled beneath him in all its merciless energy. The office was silent except for the faint hum of the city far below, and the low ticking of a clock that seemed to mock him. His hand tightened around the phone in front of him—a device that had become more a weapon than a tool, a lifeline to a past that refused to die. He dialed the familiar Paris number, one he had entrusted only to Raphael, the one person he believed he could rely on to bring his wife back to him. The line clicked, a moment of silence that stretched far too long. And then—warm, practiced, familiar—Raphael’s voice broke through. “Falvio, my friend. It has been some time. How are things in New York?” Falvio’s jaw tightened. He did not like pleasantries. He did not like soft talk. “Busy

  • Clasp of Life    Chapter 108

It began in the silence before dawn, the sort of silence that pressed on the ribs and felt too heavy for breath. Analees had been tossing in the spare bedroom that Raphael and Ines had prepared for her, a warm refuge in a house she had come to think of as more sanctuary than mere shelter. She lay curled, her swollen belly pressing against the mattress, a weight she had both cherished and feared for nine long months. It was her ninth month and Raphael insisted she stay with Ines and him. Analees was scared too so she agreed but with caution. At first, she thought the pain was a dream. A deep cramp, low and persistent, blooming from her spine around to her abdomen, catching her breath. She turned onto her back, grimacing, and rubbed her belly, whispering to the child inside as she had whispered for months: "Hold on, little one. Not yet. Wait until the light comes." But the child had other plans. The contraction tightened like a cruel hand around her torso. She gasped, clutchin
