Isaac POV
Her eyes were teary, and her chin quivered as she looked at me with a pleading look.
I can’t believe this is happening right now. The girl I’ve been madly in love with for the last twenty-four years has finally confessed that she feels the same… And it’s too late.
She’s in a rough spot right now, and I fear that this feeling of hers is only a phase. I fear that I will end up losing everything. It’s a battle of my mind versus my heart right now.
I love Whitney, I do, but there’s always been something missing from our relationship. I was never as comfortable with her as I am with Stephanie, and I constantly question why that is.
It’s most likely because I grew up with Steph and she knows me inside and out, and I worry if Whitney will ever get to that point.

I sobbed as soon as Isaac shut the door behind him. I wanted to run after him, but I was too hurt and weak to get up from the couch.
