Franklin's POV I wasn't sure how long I had been in my room all alone, should definitely just be a couple of hours, and all I felt was pain. My chest reconfigured in ways that hurt more than I could imagine. My heart broke every time I remembered, and not once did I ever forget those words. “I don't love you, Franklin.” Those words stuck to me more than the outer bark to a tree. It gave me nightmares and made sleeping very difficult. I had thought I'd do the world with her. Fuck, if she wanted me to rule, I'd have done everything to get the throne, just to keep her! I'd have done anything and everything for her. Those words were enough to keep me away. They were enough to bruise my ego and make me take a break, but not enough to stop me from wanting her. Scarlett was in my head night and day. She had a special compartment already because she never seemed to take a break. I was also tormented by the thoughts of her, but it'd also seem like I wouldn't breathe without those thoughts
