Chapter 2

Author: Lil Rock
Warren ground his shoe harder against my face. Then, he lit a cigarette and pressed the burning tip into my skin.

As I screamed in pain, he said with a smile, "Seems to me you have a bad memory, Mr. Cole."

Warren had a younger sister, Catherine Parker, whom he loved dearly.

Two months ago, she confessed her feelings to me, but I turned her down. She went home and cried for days.

Everything that had happened to my family was part of Warren's revenge plan—the price I paid for making his sister cry.

Catherine was a kind and gentle young woman. She was wonderful, but I liked men. Was it wrong for me to reject her?

I was so badly beaten that I couldn't even crawl on my feet. When my head was shoved into a flushing toilet bowl, I thought I was going to die.

After much difficulty, I finally had the chance to call the police. But when they showed up, every single security camera in the company had "malfunctioned" for exactly one hour. There was no footage of Nelson beating me up under Warren's orders, and not a single person stepped forward to testify on my behalf.

I tried to contact the media to expose Warren's reprehensible actions. However, the headlines that were plastered everywhere mentioned something else entirely.

"Sean Cole, an incorrigible gambling addict, ended up putting himself in massive debt. To pay it off, he violated company policy and leaked patented information to a rival tech firm. When his boss caught him, he tried to frame him using the injuries that had been inflicted on him by his debt collectors."

The tabloids exposed Mom's "mental illness" and my siblings' "wrongdoings".

My entire family was now pushed to the center of public controversy. Seth and Sadie were too scared even to leave the house.

Because of my suspected gambling, my bank accounts were frozen. I couldn't even fork out the money to cover my family's food and living expenses.

I didn't want to concede defeat so easily. I made multiple police reports, but since I didn't have any evidence, the officers couldn't do anything either.

I stumbled out of the police station like a zombie. After endless hesitation, I called Warren.

"If you're displeased with me, Mr. Parker, I'll do whatever you want. But can you please spare my family?" I pleaded.

Mom had to work long hours for many years to raise three children by herself. She was in poor health. Now that she'd been forcefully admitted into a psychiatric hospital, I was worried it'd be too much for her.

Seth and Sadie were twins, both high school seniors, and they were about to take the SATs soon. Their lives couldn't be put on hold like that.

Warren agreed to my request and told me to come to his office.

I'd nearly been beaten to death at his office before. Who knew what else would happen to me this time? Still, I did as he said. I rushed over in fear, only to see my siblings there.

"What are you two doing here? Hurry up and go home!" I urged as I anxiously grabbed them and tried to shove them out of the office.

However, Warren chuckled and said, "You're a valuable asset to the company, Mr. Cole, and your siblings show just as much promise. I'll let Tom have a proper chat with them. If we can find a suitable opening, they can come work for the company as soon as they graduate."

As I was worried about scaring Seth and Sadie, I never told them just how terrifying he was. They didn't know his true colors. They simply thought that he was genuinely trying to help us out, and they felt extremely grateful to him.

I felt sick with dread. It was only after the secretary had led them out that I finally snapped back to reality.

"Everything is my fault, Mr. Parker. They have nothing to do with it. Please spare them!"

Warren lit up a cigarette before remarking, "Is that how you beg someone?"

My hands trembled. I fell to my knees with a loud thud.

"Please, I beg you."

When he first began his revenge, I thought that even if he had money, there had to be limits to what he could do. There had to be someone who could stop him.

Back then, I only felt anger. I was never afraid of him.

But in just two months, he'd shown me how laughably naive my perspective had been.

Warren walked up to me and grabbed my jaw. He tilted my head from side to side, as if inspecting an item up for sale.

"You are pretty handsome. It's no wonder Cathy took a liking to your face. As it happens, I haven't tried it with a man before."

He exhaled a smoke ring right in my face, his fingers brushing my cheeks suggestively.

I'd considered over a dozen possibilities before this, but not this one.

The color drained out of my face. Instinctively, I backed away from Warren, but he grabbed me and slapped me twice before pressing me against his desk and ripping my clothes off.

I called Catherine and came up with an excuse to invite her over. Not long after, she arrived, having driven over in a rush. She had a sweet, adorable face and a pleasant personality. She could often be found volunteering her time at orphanages and nursing homes, as well as making donations. They made such an interesting pair, the innocent and perfect younger sister and the vicious older brother with blood on his hands.I opened the door and welcomed Catherine into the place."Where's Warren?" she asked as she looked around curiously.Just as I was about to cover her mouth and tie her up, she struck first. She lunged at me and stabbed a dagger right into my abdomen. Unfortunately for her, the dagger didn't pierce through my body—I'd worn a bulletproof vest on the inside. In that fleeting moment, when she was still caught off guard, I ripped the dagger from her hands and kicked her down. Then, I grabbed the hammer on the side and smashed it heavily against her knees.I'd rehearse

In three days, the special task force that had been set up to dismantle Warren's criminal organization would finally start wrapping up the operation.Back when I made that attempt to jump off the roof, I truly believed there was no longer any hope to live for. I wanted to die. After seeing how serious I was about ending my life, Nelson had no choice but to reveal his identity as an undercover operative. He told me, "Our country will never give up on its citizens. I am truly sorry that you and your family have suffered so much hardship. However, evil will always be punished. The authorities won't let Warren evade punishment. He will pay for every heinous crime he has ever committed!"Desperate for Warren to get what he deserved as soon as possible, I volunteered to become the police's informant. With their guidance, I was able to procure more evidence of Warren's criminal activities.Once Nelson left, I locked Warren in the dog cage from before. When he woke up and saw where he was

I tried to take a step forward, but someone yanked me back hard. After turning around, I saw that it was Nelson who grabbed me.Warren stood behind him, shockingly bearing a different expression for once. "Are you trying to kill yourself?""I foolishly offended Ms. Parker. Surely it's enough if I die to atone for my sins, right? Please spare my family, Mr. Parker."Before this day, I'd never imagined I'd one day be so pathetic that I wouldn't even dare to avenge myself—that I'd even sacrifice my life just to beg for forgiveness. But Warren declared, "You can die when I'm bored with you. Your brother's waist isn't as slender as yours, and his legs aren't as long either. He doesn't quite give me the same feeling you do."Just yesterday, he'd assaulted Seth right in front of me.Well, it wouldn't quite be right to call it an assault. It was Seth who took the initiative to seek out Warren and beg him to spare me. Warren's condition for doing so was for Seth to sleep with him.Warren

Warren stood with one hand in his pocket. He had a faint smile on his face, and it made my skin crawl."Are you planning on taking these files to the police?" Warren asked, his voice unnervingly gentle. My mouth hung open, and my eyes were wide. I was too terrified to make a sound. He didn't wait for a response. He circled to the other side of the desk, grabbed the monitor, and smashed it against my head.I fell to the floor, along with the monitor. Blood gushed from my head and flowed into my eyes. The stinging pain made my tears flow, causing my vision to be covered in red.Warren hauled me up by my hair and slapped my face a couple of times. "I told you to behave. Why don't you listen to me? Must you insist on getting a beating when you could've saved yourself the pain?He threw me back to the floor and signaled to Nelson. "Avoid his head. His brain is still worth something."I clutched my skull with both hands and curled into myself as the blows wracked my body. My entire bo

"Your siblings are right outside. You won't want any more harm to come to them, right?" Warren asked. That was all it took to snuff out any thought I had of fighting back.I leaned over the desk, my face aimed right at the security camera. When I felt something forcing its way into me, my dignity crumbled, shattering into pieces on the floor. When it was over, Warren tossed a wad of cash at me. "Get dressed and get out. You know what you can and cannot say."I trembled as I put my clothes back on and picked up the money before leaving. I needed the money for food.Seth and Sadie were still outside. When Sadie saw me, she grew quite worried. "Why are you walking like that, Sean? Did you hurt your legs?"Warren had followed me out of his office. Arching a brow, he said pointedly, "Oh? Are you hurt? Your legs seem fine. It's your—"I didn't know what he might end up saying, so I grabbed my siblings and dragged them off in a hurry before he could say something that humiliated me.
