Chapter 15

"I still feel a little, obsolete, I guess, not wearing anything on a day like Halloween," I say, seeing as how many of the other teens in school are a little more special looking with colors they don't usually have placed into their attire. That's just the tame side of things, while other teens have gone all-out with the constumes. There's a T-rex and a fariy queen chatting and walking by, and in one of the doorways I can spot a teen in a bee costume. There's even a teacher who has a crazy-scientist wig on, who is merrily talking and holding up a pumpking for another faculty member, dressed in the star and moon robe of a wizard.

"Eh, don't sweat it," says Syl, who does have plastic vampire teeth in his mouth, "it's nothing important. Besides, you only had a week, tops, to get ready. It's not even required. So who cares?"

"Maybe you can get something along the way," says Hala, "find a few flowers stick it behind your ear and be pretty."
