Leon's POV.

“Who was that?”

She grabbed the phone from my hand and placed it on the table. “It's definitely a wrong number. Nothing serious.” Her voice cracked a bit as she tried to hide her anxiety.

“You know,” I said, resuming eating, “you really should do better at lying. That was obviously something."

“It's nothing.” She insisted, fixing her eyes on her plate as she ate.

I decided not to press further. If I wanted to, not at dinner. But, I kept watching her as she consciously glanced at her phone screen several times —distracted.

After the plate was cleared, she excused herself. I remained seated and thought about what to do next. Since she didn't want to tell me, I'd have to find out for myself. I took out my phone and called Darious.

He came in shortly after. “Sir”

“I need you to keep an eye on Amber. What she does, where she goes, and who she talks to. Make sure she doesn't find out.”

“Okay, sir.”
