"You do realise that that doesn't really explain why he didn't do a follow-up to see if you were aware or not? And, how could you sign the contract without even reading the clauses, A? You didn't even know your employer was and now this? I should unfriend your ass right about now. Are you even listening to me?"
Anelia looked around her at the dozens of tables in the break room. Some tables only occupied by a few employees and others none. She swept her eyes over one particular table. There sat the Dappers. They were conversing among themsel
"It's a mild fever, but I expect it'll clear in a few days. She needs to rest, keep warm and take it easy. I don't know what she has been doing, but it looks to me like her body was overwhelmed."Dexter nodded and led the doctor back to the living room. If he had been any doctor, their liaison would have ended there and he would have left. But, Doctor Payne was his friend from college days and he showed no signs of leaving soon.
Twenty-fourAnelia came to in the dead of the night and unlike the characters she had read about in a number of books, she was not overly disconcerted and immediately knew that she was in Dexter's room. The silk sheets covering her body felt good caressing her skin just as much they were unfamiliar but she would have had to be a log not to acknowledge just how comfortable the bed was.
Natie yawned and rolled away from the edge of the bed. She threw her hand and leg carelessly to the other side of the bed and furrowed her brows when she felt her leg and arm land on something soft. "You are the worst haphazard sleeper I know," she heard Anelia grumble beside her. Natie giggled and groggily opened her eyes. She didn't remove her leg and arm atop her sister but shifted closer as if to only get more comfortable. It was no lie that Natie was a very unstable sleeper. She could go to sleep with her head on the pillow and wake up with her head almost hanging off the edge of the bed and her feet laying on the pillow instead."You're the one in my bed," she cheekily replied before closing her eyes again. Not that she was complaining. To Natie her sister was like a big warm blanket and she felt strangely comforted and safe when she was around."You're the one that's in my bed," Anelia countered with a dazed voice. Natie opened her eyes again and looked around the room."Oh, t
It was one thing to pledge to do something and a whole different thing to actually do it. Which was why Anelia contemplated running back to her bedroom when she was faced with Dex. She had woken up a little later in the day, no doubt feeling a little better than she had been and taken a warm shower. Of course, Anelia swore not to take anymore cold showers, which she had been taking in the early mornings when she was trying to avoid Dex. Anelia easily caught a cold and she should have known that taking cold showers in the morning to help rejuvenate her from lack of sleep was not a very good idea. With Natie still asleep, Anelia had crept out of the room and headed for the kitchen. When she had just turned around the corner, there he had been standing. He was facing the cupboard with nothing on save for his pyjama pants. To say that she had not been expecting him would be an understatement. His biceps flexed when he raised the cup he had in his hand and brought it to his mouth. And aga
Anelia came tumbling onto the bed a little too ungracefully and did not have much time to gather herself before Dex seized her by the wrists and successfully pinned her against the bed. She shook her head wildly and attempted to pull her hands out of his vice-like grip to no avail. When she finally did accept the simple fact that she really
Twenty-eightDexter finally let go of Anelia but never once took his gaze off of her. He was still very much shirtless and Anelia was really trying not to let her gaze wander anywhere that was below his neck.
Twenty-nineAfter they had had breakfast, Anelia had been left to clear up the dishes and clean up the kitchen. She had seen Dexter; alright perhaps the word spied would have been a lot more accurate, walk upstairs after he had finished his breakfast and Natie had said that she was going to her bedroom.
Friday came too early for Anelia. She got off the bed in a daze and walked into the bathroom to freshen up. A shower later her mind was fully awake and she put on a random white tee and a pair of well-worn blue jeans. She tied her hair up in a messy bun and exited her room. Walking past Dexter's room, of course not without throwing it a suspicious look, she proceeded along the
