I knew Matteo wasn't happy with Rowan's reply but I didn't wait for him to counter it.

I threw the towel on a random chair and dove into the pool.

While my friends and I had planned to hang out, we never exactly said when and because I wanted to take my mind off a lot of things, I invited them over.

It was a last-minute decision I made when I came back from work as Matteo had let me off as early as one o'clock today because there was nothing else to do in the office.

I knew that wasn't the real reason but I accepted it. I didn't feel like working anyway.

My friends could have declined, seeing as it was a weekday when they could've been occupied with other activities, but luckily for me, they were free.

When they arrived, the first thing Jules did was give them a tour of the house. The size of the bedrooms wowed them but their awe increased when Jules showed them to the pool.
