"I told you our business is done."

Nadine still hadn't lost her courage to persuade Adrian.

"I will help with all of my aunt's medical expenses. I will transfer her to the best hospital so she can walk again."

Nadine hopes Adrian's anger subsides, but what she gets is the opposite. Adrian looks very angry and yells at him loudly.

"Miss Merrick!! You're taking advantage of other people's weaknesses again to get what you want!! How lowly!!"

Nadine was shocked to hear the curse from Adrian. Why do her good intentions always look bad in Adrian's eyes? Nadine could no longer contain her emotions.

"Can you stop!!! I really want to help you!!!"

The sound of their bickering was so loud in that quiet hallway that a nurse who had just come out of the room warned them.

"If you two want to fight, choose another place. There are a lot of patients here who need rest."

Adrian, who was embarrassed, tried to apologize to the nurse in front of him. Nadine, who saw Adrian off guard, immediately pulled his arm.

"Sorry for the fuss, nurse. Let me take my husband somewhere else."

The nurse just nodded and left. Nadine, with all her strength, pulled Adrian's body to the waiting chair in the hallway. And forced him to sit with her.

"Have you had breakfast?"

Adrian was about to leave but Nadine held Adrian's hand as hard as she could.

"Miss Merrick, could you please let go of my hand?"

Nadine tightened her grip even more. And didn't care what Adrian said at all.

"Looks like you're hungry. That's why you've been angry all this time. Wait for me to order something for Jim."

Adrian is still too lazy to respond to Nadine's behavior. On the other hand, without letting go of his hand, Nadine took her cell phone and called Jim.

"Hello? Jim... Can you help me please?"

Adrian was a little surprised when Nadine used the word "please" again to the driver.

"Please buy me two sandwiches and..."

Adrian was angry again when he heard Nadine's request.

"I told you I didn't hung-..."

Nadine let go of her hand and immediately covered Adrian's mouth.

"Ssshhh...."

Adrian tried to remove Nadine's hand from his face.

"Mhmmm..... Mhmmm...."

Nadine didn't really care about Adrian, who seemed to be nagging. And resumed her conversation with Jim.

"Aah... Sorry... Two sandwiches and two coffees... Call me when-..."

Growl Growl

A loud sound from Adrian's stomach made Nadine immediately turn her head. A triumphant smile graced her face.

"Ha ha ha.... Buy me four sandwiches, Jim. I think I'm really hungry. Call me when you get that food."

Nadine looked at Adrian, who this time was silent and didn't give any resistance. His face was red with embarrassment.

"Okay Jim. Please hurry. Thank you."

Again, Adrian was surprised to hear Nadine thank the driver.

"So we can talk for a bit while waiting for your breakfast to come, right?"

Nadine removed her hand from Adrian's face. Adrian was even ready to leave.

"Please?"

Hearing Nadine's plea, Adrian sat back down.

"You are really a good man, Adi...."

Adrian glared sharply at Nadine, who called him by his nickname.

"Oops... Sorry... I didn't mean to make fun of you."

Adrian turned his head back.

"Adrian? Are you sure you don't want to cancel our wedding? I'll try-..."

Adrian quickly rebutted.

"Never!"

Nadine could only take a deep breath. This time she had completely lost and inevitably had to repeat her marriage to Adrian.

Nadine thought for a moment about coming up with a plan B so that the events of her past wouldn't happen again.

"Okay... So I still have to marry you."

Adrian remained silent, unwilling to respond to Nadine. Nadine thought again and this time she needed a little longer to talk again.

"Are we done with our business? I'm going back to auntie's room. Benjamin will be worried if I don't come back soon."

Nadine again asked Adrian to be quiet.

"Shhh... We're still waiting for your breakfast to come."

Adrian was about to speak again but Nadine again told him to be quiet.

"Ssshhh.... Wait, I have an idea."

Nadine then looked at Adrian, who looked confused.

"I can make conditions for you, right?"

Adrian just kept silent after hearing Nadine's question.

"I only ask one condition. I ask you to always remind me that you never loved me."

This time Adrian laughed sarcastically.

"You are very strange. Of course, there will never be love between us. And we married without love."

Even though she was determined to let Adrian go, Adrian's statement still pierced her heart.

Trying to be strong, Nadine looked into Adrian's angry eyes.

"Good start. Please always remind me. Especially when I'm starting to look greedy to have you."

Adrian turned his face away. He looked very sick of staring at the girl in front of him.

"You know what? That's easy because it's so easy for me to hate you, Miss Merrick."

Nadine chuckled and promised Adrian again.

"I promise to fasten the handover of your resort, but you must remember to never create scandals outside. Father hates troublesome people."

Adrian smirked and mocked Nadine.

"It seems that sentence suits you. Don't you like to cause trouble and deceive people?"

Nadine laughed again, not looking offended at all by Adrian's words.

"You're right. I'll try to get the resort back in less than three years."

This time Adrian wanted to look at Nadine.

"You have to keep your word."

Nadine nodded and pulled out her little finger.

"Pinky promised. I promise to help Adrian get his resort back."

Adrian smirked at Nadine's childish promise.

"Oh yes.... One more."

Adrian looked back at Nadine, who was looking far ahead arranging the words that would come out of her mouth.

"I will explain to Olivia about our relationship. You don't need to worry, you will still be Olivia's lover. I will try my best to hide your relationship from my father."

Adrian suddenly looked so annoyed.

"Don't interfere with our relationship. And you had better keep your promise to keep Olivia away from sneaky people like your father and you."

Nadine didn't think Adrian would be so overreacting to her.

"Okay.... Okay...."

Nadine adjusted her sitting position so she was facing Adrian. Then she stretched out her hand to Adrian.

"Mr. Miller. I'm Nadine Merrick who will marry you tomorrow. Promise to help you as a business partner. Deal!"

Adrian still didn't want to accept Nadine's hand. But Nadine kept holding out her hand until Adrian couldn't help but accept it.

Riiing Riiing

Nadine's cell phone rings. Seeing Jim's name on the screen of her cell phone, she immediately picked it up.

"I'll take your breakfast. You better stay. I'll leave my bag there. So don't go anywhere."

Adrian didn't have time to answer. Nadine had already run out.

"Haaaah.... She's really weird. How could she change his mind overnight?"

Adrian sighed as he looked at Nadine's bag which she left next to him.

Not long after, Nadine returned with Adrian's food.

"I don't want to accompany you to breakfast here."

Adrian said curtly as he took two sandwiches and one coffee.

"This is for you, all of it..."

Adrian looked surprised.

"How am I going to spend it all?"

Nadine smiled again.

"You can share it with Benji inside."

Nadine took her bag and prepared to leave Adrian.

"Haaah.... You really investigated everyone close to me."

Adrian looks a little surprised because Nadine knows her cousin's name.

"Who knows? Don't tell me it's from me. He'll just throw it in the trash."

Adrian nodded slowly.

"See you tomorrow at our wedding, Adi."

Nadine left Adrian, who was ready to yell at Nadine again.

Nadine immediately went to Jim and asked her to take her to the office. On the way, she contacted Anna.

"Ann... Get the contract ready and give it to dad. I'm going back to the office now."

Nadine hung up the call and went back to enjoying her trip.

"Jim... I'll be a better person now."

Jim, who was confused by Nadine's words, just nodded his head.

***

"Adrian... You took too long."

Adrian just smiled at Benjamin, who was sitting next to his sleeping mother.

"Ah.. Here I bought something for you."

Seeing the bag of sandwiches and two hot cups of coffee in front of him made Benjamin excited again.

"Waaaah. That's a lot... You don't want to eat, bro?"

Adrian just shook his head and sat across from Benjamin, watching him devour his first sandwich.

"Thanks, I haven't eaten anything since last night. Are you sure you don't want to?"

Adrian shook his head again but he seemed a little tempted by Benjamin's food.

"This is really good, bro... It's good that all of this is mine."

Benjamin teased Adrian, who was seen gulping when Benjamin took a bite of his sandwich.

Growl Growl

Adrian covered his stomach in shame. Benjamin laughed loudly at his cute cousin.

"Maybe I'll accompany you to eat Benji."

“If you don't mind, can we meet after my office hours, around 6 PM, at Le Petit Café?”At 4:30 PM, Nadine Merrick's phone chimed with a soft, melodic notification. A text from Olivia Wilson."I'm a little nervous about today, Nadine. But since Le Petit Café is right in the middle of the street food district, I wanted to bring you my favorite local snack to try! See you at 6:00?"A bitter smile touched Nadine's lips. In her past life, she had treated Olivia's kindness as a weakness to exploit. She had used Alexander's obsession to trap them both, doing whatever it took to keep Adrian for herself. "You're too pure for this world, Olie," Nadine whispered to the empty room, and typed back a yes.In the glass window, her reflection showed the sharp lines of the Iron Lady. But underneath the armor, she was already mourning the life she was giving away, so Olivia and Adrian could find their way back to each other.*****Across the city that same morning, Alexander Barrett was draped across

A little brother? The tension in the marble hallway was thick enough to cut, despite the sterile hush of midday light pooling from the windows. Alex, never one to let a mystery lie, stalked a step closer, his blue eyes gleaming with an intensity that had nothing to do with charm."So, Adrian." Alex's voice dropped into a low, competitive taunt. "Who exactly is this 'little brother' Nadine was so cozy with on the phone? I don't remember the Merricks having a secret heir hiding in the countryside."Adrian's jaw tightened. His eyes caught the glare off the glass windows as he opened his mouth to deliver a sharp retort."Mr. Adrian." A calm, unhurried voice cut through the corridor before he could. Mr. Davis emerged from a side hallway, "The Chairman is waiting on our initial briefing for Case 1. We need to discuss the tactical approach before the mountain community meeting." He turned to Alex with a smile too polite to be kind. "Apologies, Mr. Barrett. Mr. Adrian doesn't have room i

“It was a masterpiece of self-destruction.”The Merrick estate began the morning in deceptive silence. Nadine sat at the breakfast table, cool light falling across her tailored blazer, and for one fleeting moment let herself feel calm with the small ritual of coffee. The peace lasted exactly as long as it took Henry Merrick to fold down his newspaper.“So,” Henry began, his voice dry as aged paper, hawk eyes flicking to Adrian. “Has the Chairman’s Proxy decided which fire to put out first, or are we still staring at spreadsheets in the dark?”Nadine sighed, jasmine perfume carrying a trace of her irritation. “Father, please. Save the interrogations for the office. It’s barely seven.”Henry’s smirk was thin and predatory, his gaze lingering on the charcoal bespoke suit Nadine had chosen as Adrian’s armor. “I suppose the presentation will speak for itself. I hope the strategy is as sharp as your suit today.”The rest of breakfast passed in watchful silence. When it was time to leave, Ad

"Why do you feel like you're giving me a goodbye hug?""I'm sorry..."Hours later, locked in his room, Adrian let out a slow breath and forced his jaw to unclench. Spread across his desk were the two crimson-flagged dossiers Mr. Davis had handed him. He tried to focus. He failed twice before he managed it, shaking his head hard enough to scatter the scent of vanilla and jasmine still clinging to the edges of his mind. The first file was a mountain land dispute over a proposed eco-resort, not a legal stalemate, Adrian realized within minutes, but a matter of wounded pride. Big Step's strategists had written off the local landowners as stubborn obstacles. Adrian saw it differently: the locals weren't holding out for money. They were furious because the firm's attorneys had patronized them, treating ancestral soil like a disposable ledger entry. The second file was a collapsed hotel chain merger. It was worse. An arrogant junior executive had tried to modernize a century-old family legac

"You wanted to discuss the contract, Nadine?"Instead of answering, Nadine slid the second blue folder across her polished mahogany desk."Open it," she said, her voice dropping into its cool, corporate cadence. "It's the three-year contract. Read it carefully. If anything's lacking, you're free to add your terms."Adrian picked up the heavy parchment. His brow furrowed at the bold header: OPERATIONAL PARTNERSHIP & ASSET RESTORATION AGREEMENT: The Three-Year Independence Mandate.Authored entirely in Nadine's precise handwriting, the document mapped their exact boundaries: separate living quarters, a strict ban on physical intimacy outside public appearances, and his absolute freedom to maintain outside relationships. In exchange, her personal Big Step International dividends would clear Miller Resort’s crippling debt, cementing his full ownership at the end of thirty-six months. It was a transactional masterpiece, until he reached Article I, Section 1.4.Adrian paused, an uncomfortab
