Nadine then invites Adrian to get into her car. Adrian seemed to refuse to sit in the same place as Nadine. Without permission, he immediately opened the front door and sat down next to Jim. In the car, Jim looked confused by Adrian's behavior. Nadine just nodded her head and sighed, letting Adrian sit in the front seat.

"Jim... You already know who he is? He's Adrian Miller."

Jim didn't know what to say. But Adrian kindly smiled at him and shook his hand.

"Hello Jim. I'm Adrian Miller."

Jim looked even more panicked and shook Adrian's hand again. Jim only smiled gently to hide his nervous face.

"Jim, please take us to the Prime Care hospital."

Adrian immediately looked back.

"How do you know where my aunt is being hospitalized?"

Jim, who was scared to see the drastic change in Adrian's attitude, just sits there waiting for Nadine's orders. Nadine took a deep breath and answered Adrian.

"Haaaah... Is that important now? Let's go Jim. Please use full speed and find a road that is not jammed."

Jim nodded and immediately turned the wheel. But Adrian was still not completely satisfied with Nadine's answer.

"You better not do anything bad to my aunt!"

Adrian finally sat quietly after threatening Nadine.

"Haaah... Whatever..."

Nadine then fell silent and didn't want to say any more. Her mind drifted off to her past. Long before she forced Adrian to take her to his house.

Right after marrying Nadine, her husband went out very often not for work. The suspicious one follows him and discovers that he often spends time visiting his aunt.

Nadine, who wants to have a good image in front of Adrian's family, has the initiative to visit her aunt. But again, it wasn't the warm welcome she got but Adrian's anger and Benjamin's expulsion.

Still having courage, she tried to visit her aunt again. But instead, she saw Olivia joking with Adrian and Benjamin. Her aunt also seemed pleased with Olivia's arrival there.

Burned by jealousy and also feeling unappreciated, Nadine tries to stop her aunt's treatment by bribing some hospital staff.

This is what causes Adrian's aunt to be unable to walk normally again after the accident she experienced with Adrian's father. The accident that took the life of Adrian's father and seriously injured his aunt.

Remembering how evil she was when she was burned by the fire of jealousy again, Nadine muttered softly.

"How stupid and cheap I used to be."

Arriving at the hospital, Adrian immediately left without thanking Nadine. He just thanked Jim kindly. Nadine waited a while and went after Adrian.

"Jim... Please wait here... I want to see Adrian's aunt."

Jim looked very worried but Nadine gave Jim a warm smile. Reassure him that she would be fine. But just after a few steps Nadine turned around and joked with Jim.

"You can call the police if I'm not back in an hour. Haha."

Jim was getting scared.

"Miss... Looks like you don't need to come in."

Nadine laughed at Jim's worried face.

"I was just kidding Jim."

Jim, who panicked, suddenly became annoyed because Nadine was teasing him.

"You've never joked before. Please don't make me worried."

Nadine laughed and warned Jim again.

"I'll be joking a lot from now on. So be prepared."

Nadine immediately entered the hospital, leaving Jim, who just sighed.

Without needing to ask or look for Adrian, Nadine knows very well where Adrian's aunt's room is.

When they arrived at the door of Adrian's aunt's room, Nadine saw Adrian was talking to the doctor in front of the room.

"The operation needs to be done again. Tomorrow night it can be done."

Nadine could clearly hear the doctor's words. Adrian looked confused about to deciding, then from inside the room a young man with brown hair came up to Adrian.

Seeing that young man, Nadine immediately mumbled.

"Benjamin."

He is Adrian's cousin who always defends and helps Adrian. Even to meet his mistresses. He often takes Olivia to meet with Adrian. Benjamin is the chef at Adrian's resort. He is Adrian's closest family after his aunt.

Because he wanted to win over Adrian, Nadine offered him a position to become the main chef at one of her hotels. Benjamin flatly refused because he wanted to stay at the resort while taking care of his mother.

Nadine recalled Benjamin's words when he cursed her for refusing his offer.

"Miss Nadine... You can give me the highest position in your hotel kitchen. But the most important position for me now is to be my mother's son."

Nadine hated Benjamin in the past because not only blatantly rejected her offer, he also often deliberately brought Olivia to meet Adrian.

Nadine immediately focused back on the conversation in front of her.

"Brother... We'll schedule the surgery tomorrow."

Adrian looked surprised to hear Benjamin's decision.

"Wait... I probably won't be able to make it here tomorrow night."

Benjamin smiled at Adrian and tried to calm his cousin down.

"I'm a big boy now. You don't have to worry about me.... Tomorrow you will also be in a difficult position. Sorry, I can't accompany you."

Adrian smiled bitterly at Benjamin's answer, then asked the doctor in front of him.

"What time will the operation be done?"

The doctor thought for a moment.

"Six o'clock at night. But she still needs further action after this. The facilities here are inadequate, so we suggest that after this operation, you can transfer her to a hospital that has complete medical rehabilitation facilities."

Adrian nodded at the doctor's words in front of him.

"We'll find a doctor. Thanks for the help."

Benjamin looked very worried by the doctor's words.

"Brother... We don't have money anymore to move my mother. You have sold your car to pay for maintenance here."

Adrian turned to Benjamin and tried to calm Benjamin down.

"Don't worry, we will definitely find a way out."

Benjamin nodded slowly. After a while, it seemed like they were done discussing with the doctor. The doctor went and was escorted by Adrian, who still wanted to ask him something. Nadine, who had no time to hide, was finally caught eavesdropping on their conversation.

Adrian glared sharply at Nadine, who was busy pretending not to know Adrian. After running into Adrian, Nadine quickly tries to get out of the hospital. Until a hand tightly pulled her back.

"Hey!! I told you not to make a fuss!"

Nadine smirked at Adrian's snap.

"Dude... The one making the fuss is you!"

Adrian looks increasingly angry and tightens his grip. Making Nadine wince in pain.

"Hissh...."

This time there was no mercy in Adrian's eyes. He was very disturbed by Nadine's presence there.

"Mr. Miller... Can you calm down... This is a hospital."

Hearing Nadine's sarcastic words, Adrian immediately let go of his grip. And half whispered back, scolding Nadine.

"I told you before. We finished our business this morning at the office. I'm not going to cancel our wedding!"

Nadine took a deep breath.

"Can we sit down for a bit and talk some more?"

Adrian was still holding his voice so as not to yell at Nadine.

"I told you our business is done."

"Focus on the contract, sir. Let's not give him an inch," Davis murmured, falling into step beside Adrian as they crossed the lobby of the downtown steakhouse. Adrian didn't answer. He'd rehearsed this pitch a dozen times on the drive over, and none of the versions had felt like enough. The private room of that high-end restaurant reeked of expensive leather and corporate ambition. Alex Barrett leaned back in his chair, took a sip of his afternoon tea, his suit jacket unbuttoned, watching Adrian approach with lazy amusement."You're late, Adrian." Alex's voice dripped with effortless arrogance.Adrian pulled out the opposite chair and sat without a word, his jaw locked tight, and set a blue folder on the table. "I'm here for the joint venture, not to socialize."Alex chuckled, resting his elbows on the polished wood. "Straight to business. I respect that.""Let's skip the small talk, Barrett. We're here for the Big Step project. Sign the cooperation papers for the mountain develop

"Alex Barrett wants in on the presentation."Andrew's voice crackled over the line. "His team spent the afternoon hounding the owners of the Grove and the Dairy. They refused to take 'no' for an answer."Adrian adjusted his glasses, his jaw tightening as the shadow competition crept over the mountain. "And you're letting him join?""It's only fair to hear both proposals side-by-side," Andrew replied with a low, testing growl. "Tomorrow morning, 9 AM, at the timber mill. Don't be late, Adrian."Morning mist still clung to the peaks when Adrian and Mr. Davis arrived at the Whitfield farm. Adrian knew the land was tied to Barrett Corp, but he needed to see the enemy's footprints himself. Mr. Davis stood silently beside him, silver-rimmed spectacles catching the early light."Mr. Whitfield, I'm not here to renegotiate," Adrian began, extending a hand to the weathered farmer. "I just want to understand why you chose Alex's retail logistics over our eco-resort."The farmer looked at his

"So, Miss Angel's name is Olie?"Nadine stepped through the heavy front doors of the Merrick Estate, still turning over the collision of Alex and Olivia in her mind. The foyer was dim.Adrian arrived almost the same moment she did. They met at the front door."You're late, Nadine," Adrian said, his low baritone cutting through the silence of the hall. "A business meeting ran long, and I lost track of the hour," she replied, firm and practiced. Adrian's gaze dropped to the grease-stained parchment bag clutched tightly in her hand. "Why did you buy that?" Adrian asked, his tone sliding into a dangerous, suspicious register. "That's the signature snack from the East District market stall." He stepped closer, his broad frame casting a shadow over her as he searched her face for a lie.Nadine's heart skipped. She looked at her husband and saw a man who still, underneath it, viewed her as the enemy. "I was passing through the district and felt a craving," she lied, her voice softer than

The name kept surfacing in Nadine's mind like a stone she couldn't stop turning over, even as the city lights blurred past the sedan's windows and Jim steered them toward Olivia's home.Where did I hear that name…"Nadine?" Olivia's soft voice broke through the silence. Nadine turned from the window, her expression smoothing. "I'm sorry, Olie. I was lost in my own thoughts for a moment.""Who was that man in the café, Nadine?" Olivia asked, her clear brown eyes searching for answers.
