Liam,

I leaned against the rooftop railing as I took a long drag from my cigratte. Matt exhaled a cloud of smoke beside me, one hand buried in his pocket.

"Why the hell are they making us break our backs just because some big shot's showing up?"

"Not just any big shot. Aiden fucking Kingston. The most powerful man in the city."

No shit. Everyone knew him. The king of the underground. It's hard to believe he is just a capo.

I took another drag, irritation simmering beneath my skin.

"How is Leah?" Matt suddenly asked.

I crushed the cigratte under my heel.

The thought of going home to her made my stomach churn. She was a constant reminder of everything wrong in my life.

I had married her because she was less irritating compared to other women. But lately She was grating on my nerves.

"Must be nice getting rid of your wife," I muttered, lighting another cigratte.

Matt let out a hollow laugh. "Yeah, I don't get to deal with her shit anymore."

Lucky bastard.

Leah"Leah," a deep voice said right as I screamed and whipped around, spraying the pepper spray straight at him."Fuck! My eyes!" My supposed stalker grunted, stumbling back and clutching his face."Oh my God, Desmond?" I gasped as I recognised the brown haired man."What the hell, Leah? Are you trying to blind me?" He glared at me through one eye, the other squeezed shut."Why the hell would you sneak up on a woman walking home alone at night?!""I called twice. TWICE!""Well, I didn't hear you!" "Why would you?" He muttered under his breath.I sighed and searched my purse for a tissue. "Here. Don't be such a drama queen."He snatched it from me, dabbing his eyes."What are you even doing here?" I asked, folding my arms, adrenaline still buzzing through my veins."Sam told me you were working late. I had practice, so I figured we could all have dinner together.""We?" I repeated, raising a brow."Yeah. You owe me one after what you just did," he said, squinting one eye open to test

Leah"Hey," he whispered.I turned my head.He was lying on his stomach beside me, his head on the pillow, watching me like he always used to.His black hair fell over his eyes. Eyes I'd spent years trying to forget. The thin scar that cut through his right eyebrow and down his cheek was still there. I used to trace it with my fingers while he slept."Did you get the life you wanted after killing me?" He asked. My heart ached. "Yes."He chuckled. "Then why do you keep bringing me into your dreams, doll?""I didn't.""I'm only here because you're thinking of me again," he murmured. "Like every other night."His hand reached for me, fingers brushing my cheek. They felt too warm, too real. His thumb pressed my bottom lip. "Leah," He said, my name in that soft, broken voice that undid me.I closed my eyes as goosebumps spread across my skin."Please," I breathed."Please, what?" His voice dropped lower. He moved closer, his breath hot on my face."Please go away.""Five years, and you

LeahMy fingers trembled around the gun as I aimed it at Aiden's back. This was the opportunity I was waiting for. If I killed him here, no one would trace it to me.So what are you waiting for, Leah? Pull the damn trigger.Aiden straightened and turned. His eyes dropped to the gun, then lifted to mine. I hated how he looked at me, like he already knew I wouldn't do it.He took a step toward me."Stay right there, Aiden," I said, my voice shaking as I gripped the gun tighter. He stopped. "Leah," he said softly. My heart ached at the sound of my name on his lips."Did I ever tell you how much I hated you saying my name?" I whispered. When you're angry, when you touch me, when you try to play the victim like you are right now, I feel it. Every emotion bleeding through the way you say my name."There are a few things you hate about me," he said, a small smile ghosting his lips, "but saying your name isn't one of them."You're wrong, Aiden. I hate every fucking thing about you."Do you

  • Consumed By Darkness   058~ AT ME

LeahI knew death was the only way out of Aiden's chains, but it wouldn't be mine.Killing him would be easy. I'd watched him sleep enough nights to know it was possible. I just needed to make up my mind to actually stab him. He let his guard down with me, convinced I wouldn't dare. That arrogance would cost him.He stepped out of the closet with his coat half on, sliding a gun into his holster. I hated how his eyes softened when they met mine. He leaned down, his fingers grazing my face. That same stupid smile he wore in the kitchen tugged at his mouth.I turned my face away from his kiss. He pressed his lips to my neck and breathed me in. My hands curled into fists. "Should I get you something on my way back?" He murmured against my skin. When I didn't reply, he turned my face and brushed his lips against mine. "I'll be back soon."I remained still on the bed, listening until his boots faded out of the room. When the room grew quiet, I reached under the pillow and felt the knife I

AidenI dropped the hairdryer on the nightstand and caught Leah before she could limp away. I lowered her gently on the bed. Kneeling, I raised her foot. My frustration boiled with each shard I picked out.She didn't make a sound as I cleaned her injury like she was now numb to pain."Don't do this to yourself, Leah." My voice was soft as I cleaned her wounds. "If you need to hurt someone, hurt me instead."She turned her head away from me, staring at the ceiling. I kissed the top of her foot after wrapping it. She jerked it away and tried to stand. I grabbed her wrist and pulled her back down."I'll tie you to the fucking bed if you walk on that foot," I threatened. She struggled a little more and when she saw it was futile she gave up and lay down. The servant girl leah was close with knocked and came in with a broom.Leah's stomach growled loudly. I glanced at her. "I'll go get you something to eat." In the kitchen, Clare was wiping down the counter. I asked for Leah's food, an

  • Consumed By Darkness   056~ THE WAY

AidenThe last time she cried was when I found her shivering in the rain. The last time she spoke was after she saw her cousin's corpse. Since then, she hadn't made a sound. The only noises she spared me were the soft sound of her breathing and the occasional hiss in her sleep. She stares through me with empty eyes, moves like a doll wound up and left to break, and I can't deny the truth. I did this to her. I thought it would take three days as usual to get her to come around. A week has passed, and she is only a shell of the woman she used to be. I would rather she curse me, spit those hurtful words, and look at me with hate. Anything but this deadness. And yet, even as I watch her slip further away, I can't bring myself to let her go. Selfish, I know. But I would rather keep her broken by my side than lose her.**************************************Machines beeped steadily as I opened the hospital door to the VIP room.Lucas stood beside the bed, his shoulders hunched as he watc
