Chapter 6

Leilani-

Sometime during the ride, I fell asleep. When I woke up, I was lying across the seat, with my head on Eric’s lap. Sitting up abruptly, I had a rush of dizziness run over me.

“We are almost there.” Eric’s soothing voice proclaimed.

I decided to ignore the fact that I had just woken up on Eric’s lap by not mentioning it. If he wasn’t saying anything about it, either was I. Looking out the window again, I realized the sun was starting to peek over the mountains.

If there was one thing I loved about living in Colorado, was the mountains. Not only did the air seem fresh, but the views were remarkable. When we passed a gate, I moved a little closer to Eric, so I could peer out the windshield.

Tate drove us through the streets, occasionally stopping to let a child that was playing run to catch the ball that got away from them. They all looked so happy and full of laughter. I couldn’t help but envy them as
