Third Person Pov

“Oh, Chris, the food looks lovely!” Joan gushed about the delicious-looking food displayed before them.

“Thanks to Celine; she prepared this for us,” Christopher said, smiling at Celine. Joan was not happy about that, but she held it in. “Let’s have our seats; this food looks too good to let get cold,” he said while sitting at the head of the table.

Before Celine could sit down beside him, where she had always sat, Joan hurriedly took her place. They both sat while Celine was left standing.

She quietly went to sit opposite Joan, at the other side of Christopher.

“Oh, it’s chicken soup! Christopher, you know how much I love my chicken soup!” Joan said obnoxiously.

“Yes, you wouldn’t eat anything else anytime we went to that Chinese restaurant you love so much,” Christopher replied.

“Is the restaurant still there? It’s been ages since I last went there. Christopher, you have to take me back there sometime!” Joan said with a wide smile on her face.

“Of course I will, bu

Joan PovChristopher and I couldn’t keep our hands off each other, and because this was what I wanted, I didn’t stop him. One thing led to another, and one minute we were making out in his office, while the next we were in a random hotel, getting the keys to the presidential suite he had just booked for us.We practically stumbled into the room, Christopher kicking the door closed while he tugged and pulled at my dress. He was still kissing me feverishly, his chest pressed flat against me as he moved for my neck instead. I tilted my head, biting my lower lip as he nipped and licked the sensitive skin. I pulled at his shirt, accidentally popping off a few buttons, but he couldn’t care less. His teeth grazed my neck again as he hiked up my dress, seemingly tired of trying to find the zipper in the back. I grabbed his hand and guided him toward it, the low laugh that spilled out of him sending vibrations through my entire body. He rubbed the area gently and paused before doing anything

Third persons povThe office went quiet immediately Joan said the two words, quiet in a way that felt dangerous. Like they were words that were taboo. The hum of the staff just outside his door suddenly sounded too loud, the windows facing the city too transparent, the city outside too close. Christopher looked at her in shock, like he had not expected that—like he’d expected restraint, sense, or at least hesitation. But Joan had never been good at lying that she did not want things. For a brief moment, he didn’t move. His jaw tightened, his eyes darkened, and Joan wondered if she’d pushed too far this time. Maybe she should not have rushed into it, but when she thought of the short time she had, she decided to face the beat of her own drum even if he rejected her. But then he stood up and went to her.The kiss was anything but gentle. It wasn’t rushed, either. It was deep, deliberate, like he’d been holding it back for far too long.Christopher missed her; he missed the taste of her

Joan Pov“When will you be coming back? The business deal you went there for is almost over,” my boss asked on the phone.“Sir, I was wondering if you could give me more time to inspect everything… at least until we start receiving the profits.” I lied to him because I cannot go back now, not when I have started making progress with Christopher.“Joan, I will bring this to the board and get back to you. When I have their confirmation, the message will be relayed to you by my secretary.”“Okay, thank you, sir. Have a nice da—” before I could finish speaking, my boss ended the call on me.This is one of the reasons why I cannot go back there—back to a place where I am no better than an errand girl. My only chance at a good life is by Christopher’s side, and I won’t ruin this chance. I made the foolish mistake of leaving him, thinking my degree would get me the money and lavish lifestyle that I deserve, but I was so blind. Now I see.Slow burns were my favorite type of romance stories. I

  • Contract Lover    Chapter 59

Third Person Pov Christopher watched as Joan dished the food into the plates. He offered to help, or for the help to do it, but she insisted because she had not helped much when he was cooking. He looked at her, and he could not help but admire how beautiful she looked under the kitchen light. It was like she had not aged a day since they broke up. The curves of her wavy hair shone as if it were part of the sun, and the way her plump pink lips parted when she gasped at the aroma of the food—her reaction to everything—intrigued him so much that he found it hard to take his eyes off her. So he just continued to stare.Joan knew he was looking at her, but she pretended to be oblivious. She moved her long hair to give him a clearer view of her face while she dished the food quietly.“Here, taste,” she said as she took a scoop with a small spoon and moved it to his mouth.Christopher, who could not say no to her, took the spoon into his mouth without breaking eye contact with her.“Exquis

Third Person PovChristopher immediately forgot about Celine and concentrated on giving Joan the tour she wanted.“So this is where I would have lived if I did not chicken out and run before hearing the truth,” Joan said, as she knew that the guilt plan always worked with Christopher. Whenever she wanted him to give her his full attention, she brought up the past, as she noticed that he now felt responsible for allowing Rebecca to split them apart. Joan felt threatened by Celine, so she had to play all her cards right so that Christopher did not slip off her fingers. It worked.“Christopher, why did we stop working?” Joan asked as she looked at his guilt-stricken face and pretended to be oblivious.“Joan, I am truly sorry for how things ended between us, and I know that I am with Celine, but I promise to always treat you—” Joan immediately stopped him by placing a finger of hers on his lips, which led to Christopher having red ears.“Shush it. Let’s not talk about the past again. What

Third Person PovRebecca was eating lunch with her friends in a restaurant when one of her friends saw Christopher and called out to her.“Is that not your man?” Rebecca’s friend said, as they always called Christopher her man, because to Rebecca, even if he was married, Christopher and she would still end up together. “Who is the girl he is with, and why is she holding on to him like that?”“Where?” Rebecca asked as she turned her head to look in the direction her friend was pointing. “Joan? Why is that bitch back?!” Rebecca asked as she dropped the fork from her hand in shock.“Becca, who’s she?” another of her friends asked nosily.“Some slut who distracted him for some time, but I thought I handled her,” Rebecca said as she fisted her hand in anger while glaring at them as they sat opposite each other, conversing without a care in the world.“Well, with the way they’re happily talking with each other, it does not look like you handled the situation well enough,” Rebecca’s friend s
