Chapter 3: His Obsession, Her Trap

Lily POV

"Give me your signature here." He pointed at the spot next to his signature. "Or have you changed your mind?"

I still couldn't believe that dad was still alive. I wanted to deny it because he might be lying. But with the video evidence he later showed me, I couldn’t deny it. Dad was indeed alive but not Matteo, my brother.

I had to accept the contract he offered. Because there was still my family left and he was in Jaxon's hands. I had no reason to refuse him. I had to accept his offer so I can get close to him, take revenge for Matteo's death while freeing my dad and then after getting all that, I would disappear until he would never find me again.

"This contract marriage will not only benefit me. It benefits both of us. You get half the shares of my company in your name. I will also report all my daily activities to you as you wish. Well even though the last one looks like you're obsessed with me, it doesn't matter."

"You're such a cunning bastard."

"Making a mutually beneficial offer can't be called cunning since we're both willingly doing it."

I immediately grabbed the pen he was holding and signed the contract. 6 months, no escape attempts, and always appearing in public. "Now what?"

He clapped his hands once and his trusted man walked in. The man came along with a camera. He bowed respectfully to Jaxon.

"Take the best picture of us together. Then send it to the media. Tell them that I'm engaged to Luciano Valenti's daughter and we're organizing a big wedding." He glanced quickly at me. "Also tell them that our marriage is based on genuine love."

This is a new beginning. Soon I'll be walking down the aisle. And today I will officially become the wife of Jaxon, my enemy.

The make-up artist and the stylist started to leave this room, which was his private room. I also looked at my reflection in the mirror that didn't look happy at all. Marriage was supposed to be one of the things I was looking forward to because I wanted to be a mother. But all those dreams were shattered because of Jaxon. That man messed up my life. That's why I'm broken into pieces. It took me four years to even stand here today.

The door opened, his trusted man gave me the code to come out now. I had to put on a happy face. No one should know how broken my heart is right now. I have to be a lovely doll today.

I covered my face with this long veil. Anyway, one of the things I'm wondering about besides Jaxon's reasons for wanting this wedding to happen is our wedding dress and location. This wedding dress is way too nice for a six-month contract wedding. And our wedding venue, Lake Como, it was my dream place to have a wedding. It's like he wanted me to suffer more for having the wedding of my dreams not with the man I love. He was such a jerk.

The moment I stepped outside, the music played. The song I love is playing, making my chest tighten even more. I wanted to run away, to get away from here but there was like a rope entangling me. If it wasn't for my dad, I wouldn't want to be in this place with him to say my vows.

Jaxon extended his hand to greet me as we were about to say our vows. He just smiled slightly without saying anything other than the wedding vows. And after it was read, he kissed me as a formality.

Our wedding was luxurious and cold as two mafia empires finally united. The two opposing sides of the mafia were presented at our wedding. Although it was full of fear and lies, my dad's people seemed to be happy to have me back. They probably never thought that I was alive and back as their temporary leader. Behind those tense faces, I could still see a hint of their relief.

Unfortunately, despite the large number of guests, there was no chaos. I was desperately waiting for that to happen.

"I'm going inside first to change," I excused myself to him.

"Hurry back. Don't think of running away because my eyes are everywhere. And you should also think of your father. He's your collateral."

"I know."

I hurried into the room we were staying in. Also, I just found out that this place is one of his properties. Apparently he really wants to expand his empire to Europe. Because this is the proof.

I locked the door and collapsed onto the bed. My body and mind are tired, but I can't stop. The real game has only just begun. It's nothing because in the future I'll definitely be attending more important events with him.

"Aw what is that!"

I rubbed my foot which I swung and accidentally hit the bed. My toes were scratched by something. Out of curiosity, I checked it.

There was a key hanging on the bed drawer. I opened it. Inside was another box but this time without a key. But I was finally able to open it after pulling out one of the pins in my hair.

"This is my pendant."

Honestly finding my pendant in Jaxon's private room in this villa was not one of the things I thought could happen. Because I threw it in his yard the last time when I was about to jump over the fence before running away. There was a tracking device on the pendant that my dad had secretly installed but I knew about it. However, I had to leave that precious thing behind because I didn't want Jaxon to track me. And now it's here, well kept as a souvenir.

Is he a psychopath who likes to keep things from his victims?

"What are you doing?"

"Resting for a minute." I gripped the pendant tightly.

"No need to change clothes. We're going straight home."

"To New York?"

"To my mansion here. I don't want to sleep in this villa. It's uncomfortable."

Our journey to his mansion was quiet. There were no bodyguards following us like before. Everything was left at the villa. I don't know what the reason was. But it was better because I could breathe more freely than before.

"Are you sick?"

"No."

"You're sighing all the time. If you're not feeling well, just say that. We're not having sex tonight anyway."

I glanced at him sharply. "Of course not! Don't ever have such thoughts!"

"Why? We're married. And the contract doesn't specify what to do and what not to do except for three requests from me and two requests from you."

"I don't want to have sex with you-"

Bang!

"Oh shit!"

My ears were ringing so loudly and a bullet had gone through the window next to me. It happened so fast and made our car spin 360 degrees. There was no pause, the second shot was heard again and this time it hit the windshield.

"Get down!" Jaxon lowered my head while he tried to get the car back on the road. "Stay in place."

Instead of listening to him, I picked up the gun I had hidden under my dress. I aimed the gun at where the shooter was, which was on top of the building in the southwest. I fired two bullets at once because there were two shooters. And it hit them, right in the head.

Clear.

Jaxon closed the muzzle of the gun with his hand. "Who the hell are you? Because Lily can't even kill an ant and you just killed two people!"
