Chapter 6: Dangerous Woman

Lily POV

I was caught off guard, not by Jaxon but by a ginger-haired woman. She had a gun pointed at my face. I honestly don't know who she is and why she was able to get into Jaxon's office that no one can enter.

Could she be the woman Jayden was close to during my absence? Is she the mistress?

"I just wanted to read books. But my hand accidentally touched something which made the door behind the bookshelf open. Out of curiosity, I went in. But it was nothing there," I answered confidently. I kept my expression calm.

"The security system of this place suddenly errored and all the CCTVs went off. It all happened after you arrived at this place." She walked quickly towards me and pushed me into the bookshelf. "What is your real purpose? You married Jaxon because you wanted to use him, don't you!"

Who exactly is this woman? Why did she mention Jaxon's name so easily and even suspect our relationship? Or is it that Jaxon told everything to his mistress?

"Hey, answer me!"

Actually, I can just start a fight with her right now. But I remembered what Nico said, I have to be gentle. "Jaxon asked me to marry him. Maybe I'm his ideal type."

She laughed discordantly and then scrunched up her waist. "You're far from the type of woman he should be with. You're too weak. You can die easily. Even now you can't protect yourself from me. I can shoot you."

"You won't do that."

"You're so confident."

I forced a smile even though I wanted to slap her trashy mouth. "I couldn't do anything when he asked me. I accepted because I loved him too."

"After you ran away voluntarily and said he was a murderer?"

"That was several years ago. Humans can't keep living in the past. I've decided to start a new chapter."

"Never mind the past. However marrying a man you consider your enemy still sounds suspicious."

If she keeps talking disrespectfully like this, I might lose control. I needed to make this woman leave. "Who are you by the way? I've never seen you. Are you one of Jaxon's employees?"

"I'm his cousin, Bianca Romano! You got married without knowing your groom's family? You know, it's so funny."

Oh my, so she's Jaxon's right-hand person. The only daughter of the Romano family, the family trusted by the Antonellis. All this time I've only heard her name from Nico but never seen her either through photos or in person. Now I understand why she was called carrot hair by Nico.

"Oh my bad. I'll remember you after this. Promise, I won't forget."

I saw her clench her hands into fists after hiding her gun inside her leather jacket. I deliberately didn't act friendly because she didn't show good intentions in the first place either. Her tone and the look in her eyes said it all.

"Not everyone knows that room, only me and Jaxon did. Even I have to be with him when I go in there. But you...." She squinted her eyes. "You are a stranger. But how did you know about it and get in there?"

"I... I just..."

Ouch, come on Lily, speak properly!

"Jaxon told you?" she asked.

"Yes, I told her."

We both reflexively looked at Jaxon who just walked in. He walked here while holding a gun with a bloodstained shirt. I'm relieved that Jaxon covered up my mistake even though after this he'll definitely want to make another deal. But on the other hand, I wonder whose blood soiled his shirt this time.

"You can't share secrets with her. She's the daughter of Luciano, our enemy!"

I took a step back, squeezed my shirt, and made a frightened gesture while glancing at Jaxon. Fortunately, he also saw me.

"Look, you scared her," Jaxon said. He picked up the blanket on the couch and wrapped my body in it. "You can change your clothes soon. Your new clothes will be here soon. Whatever it looks like, just put it on."

Gosh thank goodness he realized that the dress I was wearing was super heavy! He's the best at torturing people!

"Jaxon!"

Ugh, that woman screamed again. Looks like she has good vocal cords. I can't wait to hit her neck next time.

"You're not suspicious of her? She used to hate you so much and now you're making her your wife."

Jaxon glanced at me then massaged his temples. "You don't have to help me with my household affairs. You know, I'm very tired and want to rest now. This is our wedding night. You shouldn't be here unless you want to watch us spend a hot night together."

I reflexively glared. He said he didn't want to sleep with me! Why change his mind now? I won't let him!

"Even if you get away from me this time, don't feel safe. I will watch you always, Ms. Valenti."

Bianca finally left the room after slamming the door hard. That woman is so dangerous, she almost put my cover in jeopardy if Jaxon hadn't come earlier.

"What happened between you guys?"

"Huh?"

"What does she mean I'm telling you?"

So he didn't hear the previous lines? Oh I'm saved!

Jaxon sighed. "She knows that you're married to me and she attended our wedding too. So there's no way she's mad for no reason unless you did something."

"I was just sitting here when she suddenly broke the door down. You can see the CCTV, oh sorry, she said it was down. She accused me of doing it. You know I'm not even good with computers, right? She also asked why I was here, that's why she asked that question because she thought there was no way you would give me access to your office."

I hope Jaxon believes me because I used to be weak with technology and he also insulted me about it in the past. Well I have to admit I was a bit pathetic back then, I couldn't do many things. Unlike now.

"I'll never forget how you struggled with walkie talkies and forgot your own computer password. You're so bad at some important things when you live in a family that puts your life at risk 24/7."

Huft, I should let Jaxon think that way. I can't argue with him or anger him. He has to believe my excuses and I have to agree with whatever he says.

"What did she do to you? Did she slap you?"

"No, she just scolded me."

"That's good. Usually she's short-tempered and likes to use the gun recklessly. Next time if she threatens you, just tell her that she'll face me."

I furrowed my brows, confused. "Why are you suddenly nice to me?"

But he laughed instead. "I'm just keeping my assets safe from scratches. By the way, you owe me a favor because I helped you earlier."
