Ch-2

At the Lunch Table

CLICK! CLACK! CLICK!

Princess Sabrina walked down the stairs in her turquoise gown and wearing glass heels that matched with her gown, and her maids trailed after her.

"Sabrina please come and sit here," Duchess Serena motioned toward the seat next to her.

When the Princess heard that, she sighed heavily. She had no choice but to follow what the duchess asked her to do. She walked over to the table where the Duchess was sitting.

Princess Sabrina first bowed to her father, and then she bowed to Duchess Serena before she sat down in the seat next to the Duchess.

"You seem to be extremely well behaved today. All credit goes to Serena for taming my out-of-control and wild daughter into a well-behaved princess." Her father chuckled as he expressed his point of view on the matter.

"Father! I am not any kind of animal. There is nothing that needs to be done to tame me." Princess Sabrina confronted the king with a raised voice.

"Behave yourself young princess, you are not entitled to speak in this manner to His Majesty. After all, he is your biological father." Duchess Serena turned her gaze toward King Azar, who was standing nearby "It gives me great pleasure to serve you, your highness. It is absolutely my pleasure to train your daughter. After the queen's death, I can't bear the thought of leaving this vulnerable child on her own."

'Who in the world does she think she is? I despise her. I despise Serena.' Princess was angry on the inside, but she was so pathetic that she couldn't even show her feelings to anyone.

"Yes, absolutely! Sabrina has completely forgotten her royal manners after she had to go through the death of queen Azura, after all she was her mother. I'm not sure what would have happened to Sabrina, if you had not been standing beside her." With a shake of his head, her father expressed his displeasure.

The meals were served to the king in slow motion, with the first course being served first, followed by the others.

"Your Highness, if it is okay with you, I would like to make a request of you." Duchess Serena put down her spoon in the soup bowl.

"I owe you much. So I am willing to do anything for you, Serena," the king said.

'Father? How could he say that? Duchess Serena is a woman who is skilled at manipulation. She is manipulating my father but he won't understand.' The Princess looked at the Duchess with a sour expression.

"Thank you so much, Your Highness. As you are aware, I am too old to accompany our young lady wherever she goes in order to partake in her wild activities, so I would like you to hire some guards who would be exclusively for Sabrina." The Duchess turned to face the princess.

"As of now, our young lady is capable of leaving the palace on her own, and she can even attend the royal dance parties and balls. As a result, I believe that guards and maids are absolutely necessary for a Princess who requires a great deal of attention and care."

"Serena, I believe you to be right. Thanks for your suggestion, I will recruit new guards who are capable of protecting her." The proposal was approved by the king.

The Duchess and the King spent the whole lunch hour conversing with one another about the people of the Kingdom and the progress of the other kingdom's economy.

Princess Sabrina didn't say anything to them and didn't even look at them. As she was finishing her lunch, she just overheard their conversation, "I am done. Father, Duchess, may I leave now?"

"Yes sure" Her father gave her a friendly smile.

"Remember to go to the library; you must carry your routine." She said it in a soft voice, as though it were her own.

"Yes, Duchess Serena," The princess bowed and walked in the direction of the library, where she stayed. Her maids were following her as well.

There was complete silence in the hallway, with just the sound of heels to be heard. "I wonder what it's like to live in chaos, because I am deaf hearing the constant silence here," she said.

Since there was no response from the maids, they were forced to walk in silence until they entered the library.

"Can you tell me what you would like to learn, my lady?" Rosie was the one who inquired.

"Something adventurous, something I've never read before, something that will keep me interested. Anything that is chaotic and can make my heart race is what I am looking for. Can anyone recommend any books that are similar to this?" The princess gave a sly smirk.

"Would you read any stories about demons?" It was proposed by a maid.

"I understand what demons are," Sabrina said with a chuckle and a shook of her head.

"How about reading stories about the world? I'm assuming you have never read anything before because the world is very messy." Another maid made a suggestion.

"Indeed, but I would rather see the world than read about it," She let out a sigh.

"I am not supposed to say this, but just to you. Would you mind reading about her highness?" The other maid was the one who brought it up.

"Yes, that is right. Is there a book written about her somewhere? She's a complete mess, and it's something I have never read before." The princess, as well as the maids, burst out laughing loudly.

"How about a vampire?" Rosie, her personal maid, was the one who actually voiced her opinion.

"Vampire? What exactly is it? Please enlighten me." With a frown on her face, the princess asked.

"Due to the fact that I have never seen anything like it, I believe it to be a myth. Vampires, according to popular belief, are demon-like beings that are neither from hell nor from heaven. They have a similar appearance to us, but they feed on humans. They are bloodthirsty and possess fangs." Rosie went on to clarify.

"That's it! Hurry and look for a book about vampires." Princess Sabrina was ecstatic to be reading a book about vampires for the first time.
