Author's pov
As Caspian walked towards Violleta, she could hear the sound of her heart throbbing heavily. She has heard so many stories about the ruthless Lycan king, but seeing it happen before her eyes was on another level.
“Your woman, I want her. That is the prize I get to claim today”
Dante's gaze immediately widened, as if his heart had been ripped in two; he could not bring himself to imagine a life without Violetta.
“No! Please don't take her, she is not the Luna, that one is the Luna!” His fingers pointed at Laura as she gasped in surprise. She had expected so many things from Dante, but seeing him throw her off to the dog was the last thing she had expected from him.
Laura clutched her chest, the pain on her neck pierced deeper, burning into her soul. Caspian turned around and started walking towards Luara.
He was certain that Laura was the one he wanted, yet he wanted to test Dante's love cir her and how far he could go to protect his Luna, but to Caspian, he was just another douchebag who did not deserve bus mate as his Luna.
“She has your mark, you do understand that once I take her away, she will become mine and I will get rid of the mark?”
Caspian asked, he knew Dante understood the implications of getting rid of the mark and how much pain Laura would have to go through, because for some women, they never survive it.
Dante lowered his head while he thought about his response very carefully. “I don't have a choice here, this woman here is carrying my child, she is my mate and I share a lot of bond with her”
“Then why did you go ahead to mark this one when you knew she wasn't your mate?” Caspian was staring into his eyes, but Dante didn't have an answer.
“Very well then, I will take her as my prize”
“No! Dante, please, you can't let him take me!” Laura's voice filled the air, and her voice sliced through like broken glass. Her hands were trembling as they reached for her, and her eyes widened. “He will kill me, I won't survive!”
“Take her to the car!” Those words that were about to change her fate.
The men charged forward towards her, their hands roughly grabbed her, yanking her backward as she continued to call out to Dante.
“DANTE PLEASE LOOK AT ME!”
She cried out in desperation but he didn't look her way, not even a flicker of remorse in his eyes for his decision, like his heart was made of stone.
And in that moment, something inside of Laura shattered beyond repair.
“I will be back to inform you on how this pack would operate from now and if you as much as try to double cross me, I will slit your throat the next second without thinking about it”
He threatened and started walking out of there, his men following right behind him. Once he had settled at the back of the car, his gaze reached for Laura, she was already fast asleep, but even though she was in a deep sleep, he could hear her muttering some words.
Caspian held her in his arms and quickly noticed her temperature. “Step on the pedal, she is running a temperature, we need the midwife to check her as soon as possible!”
There was an urgency in his voice, the guard who was driving knew better as he sped off. With each passing second, he noticed her temperature go higher, he had never felt so helpless before.
Watching his mate go through something like this, and not being able to do anything about it.
The head of the midwives had been informed of the situation and was already waiting before their arrival.
Once the car came to a halt at the driveway of his palace, he held it in his arms, ready to give it a run.
“It's fine, your majesty, the midwives will take it up from here,” Keira, his personal maid, who stood in front of his car, suggested, but he gave her a cold shoulder.
“It's fine, I will take her myself” that was all he barely said before running inside with Laura in his arms and the midwife following behind.
Keira froze that instant not sure what to make of the situation. She had been informed that his majesty was returning with a girl who needed medical aid, but no other information regarding the girl was given to her.
But what was more shocking was the fact that he carried her; she had worked with Caspian for nine years now and had never seen him touch a lady or even give anyone his attention, no matter how important the person might have seemed to be.
He had always been cold to every lady that crossed his path, but Keira could tell that it was different with this girl, the way he looked at her, she had never seen him look at anyone like that, and that made her heart ache.
Once Caspian placed her on his large king-size bed, the midwife immediately drew closer to examine her, but as soon as the head midwife noticed the scar on her neck, she gasped in shock.
“What is it?”
“The mark, it has gone deep, it has eaten into her flesh, how is she still alive with something like this?”
“I don't have the answers to your questions but I am telling you to do everything in your power to save her”
“Your majesty, I don't think…..”
“Save her Clara!” Caspian growled, his voice trembling with barely restrained panic. The room suddenly fell silent before his voice came through again.
“I don't care what it takes, just bring her back.” His voice grew cold; they had never seen the king this helpless.
He had seen death, caused it! But watching her suffer was a different kind of torment. One, he didn't know how to fight.
Laura's pov I had skipped dinner that night, my stomach churning with something far worse than hunger. The thought of sitting across from the queen's gaze, her younger son's smug expression, and worse of it, Caspian's unreadable expression made my skin crawl.‘Coward!’ my wolf whispered, but I immediately silenced her. Some battles were worth avoiding.Feeling so bored, I went over to the training ground, picked up some weapons that were suitable to me, and began to train.Once I held my sword around my fingers, it didn't feel heavy again, and as I gave the first swing, it sent fire through my muscles.Good! That was painful and it seemed to be the only language I understood lately.I kept on swinging my blade, throwing the air, making sure that each step I took was precise. And my heart kept throbbing, with each moment I spun, there were traces of sweat dripping from my forehead, rolling down my skin.My legs were fully balanced on the ground, which was why each time I swung my bla
Caspian's povI stood still with my jaws tight and my fist trembling at my side. As soon as Kalif slammed the door to my office shut, I could hear the sound of my wolf growling inside of me, his frustration matching the storm inside of me.‘You need to make her understand that she is out mate, she doesn't know that’‘I know that, and I am trying’ I snapped inwardly.‘You call this trying! You are the darn Lycan king, so start acting like one because the mate bond won't do all of the work!’His voice echoed through my head, and his rage was syncing with mine until I couldn't tell where it ended and where mine began. Not able to withstand it any longer, I slammed my fist hard on the wall.“Your Majesty, you need to calm down,” Kalif spoke, and for a moment there, I had totally forgotten about the presence of both of them.“Did something happen?” Mason asked calmly, seeing that they finally had my attention.“Laura wants the wedding canceled!”No matter how smoothly I wanted the words to
Author's pov Queen Sage sat at the royal seat in the dining room next to that of the Lycan king. The meal had been served for a while now, and there was no sign of the King or his Luna, and at this point, the Queen and her son were starting to feel tense.“Mother! The food is getting cold, I don't think that we can wait for them any longer”“No, he is the king, we have to wait for him,” she insisted, even though she knew fully well that she could go ahead and eat.Her gaze slowly trailed down to the beta and the gamma that were standing right next to them with a blank expression on their face.“Where the hell is the king? I thought both of you were supposed to be by his side at all times?”“He will be here soon,” Mason spoke coldly, and from the look on his face, Queen Sage knew that he wasn't going to say anything else.Just then, she noticed Laura walking towards them, her steps so elegant that a frown had immediately appeared on her face.“Long live the queen,” Laura spoke as she
Laura's povI was woken the next day by the brightness that emanated from my window, and as I forced my eyes open, I realized that there was someone at the window.I had decided that I was going to confront Keira about what happened yesterday, but this wasn't my pack, I had no plans of staying here for long, instead, I was going to return back to the south; to my father once the Lycan king had successfully gotten rid of the mark on my neck. That thought had made me decide that I was going to try as much as possible to ignore Keira and not make trouble with her until I was out of here.“Good morning!” The girl at the window spoke with a bright smile on her face. She had dark skin that radiated, and her long brown hair was smooth and shiny, so that for a moment I was caught up in her beautiful smile.“Who are you?” I finally asked after staring at her for a while”“Oh! I guess I forgot to introduce myself. I am Sherry, and I will be your personal maid, whatever it is that you need, I me
Author's povAlpha Garrick felt the wine glass around his grip tremble as soon as he was informed of the arrival of Alpha Dante. Right that moment, he could feel the anger coarse through his veins like poison. This was the same bastard who had stolen his daughter's heart and then crushed it beneath his heels.“Send him to the throne room and instruct him to wait!” he growled as he could barely control himself.Alpha Garrick snapped his fingers as the maids rushed inside and without a word from him, they knew exactly what to do.They went ahead and began to set up some outfits for him, and once they were all ready, they began to dress him in his traditional robe, which needed the aid of at least three maids who were skilled in that aspect.Once he was fully dressed, he walked downstairs, where Alpha Dante and his beta were both seated and as soon as they noticed him coming, they both rose to their feet.“Alpha King Garrick!” Alpha Dante called out as a cold smile swept across his face
Author's pov:Keira stirred from her light sleep at the sound of footsteps approaching. Her heart skipped, there was something familiar about the scent and for a second there, she thought it was his majesty. But when the door creaked open, it was Kalif who stepped in, and as usual, he had a cold smirk on his lips.“What are you doing here?” She asked, not turning around, her voice cold as she lay facing the wall.“Disappointed? Are you expecting him?”“Answer the question, Kalif!” She snapped, almost irritated by his presence.“I came to see you. Is that a problem?”“It's a problem when you have a bigger issue yet and haven't fixed it”“It might be one of the reasons I am here” he spoke in a husky tone as she immediately got up from the bed and sat upright.“What is this about?” She carefully studied his expression, the usual smug face looked grim, which could only mean one thing.“Go ahead and talk to me, what is going on?” Keira could not conceal her curiosity, and if she had to for
