Elias sat in his study, staring at the documents scattered across his desk.He had barely slept for the rest of the night.Every time he closed his eyes, thoughts of Eve's return came rushing into his mind. He had hoped that after all these years, he would never have to deal with her again. Yet, somehow, she had managed to find her way back into his life.Elias rubbed his tired face and leaned back in his chair. He had no intention of going to the office that day. After everything that had happened, he needed time to think about his next move but before he could settle his thoughts, his phone began to ring.He glanced at the screen and saw Mathew's name. With exhaustion written all over his face, he answered."What is it, Mathew?""Sir!" Mathew's panicked voice came through the phone. "Miss Eve is here again!""Where?" Elias expression immediately darkened."At Ward Industries. She's sitting in your private reception area, and she refuses to leave.""What does she want?" Elias asked as he

Neither of them spoke for several seconds before Elias finally continued."Eve and I met several years ago." He said with a quiet voice."We were together for a long time. I loved her."Ava's chest tightened slightly, but she remained silent."I didn't just love her, Ava. I trusted her with everything."He looked down at his hands."She knew everything about me. My business, my finances, my plans, my family. There wasn't much I kept from her." He paused for a while then continued."Eventually, I proposed.""We were engaged, and our wedding was already being planned. I genuinely believed she was the woman I would spend the rest of my life with."His voice became heavier."Then, three weeks before our wedding, she disappeared.""Just like that?" Ava's eyes widened as she asked."No warning. No explanation. Nothing." Elias said nodding. He looked toward the window."I woke up one morning and she was gone. At first, I thought something had happened to her. I called her phone repeatedly. I contac

The sound of a car pulling into the driveway broke the silence outside the Ward mansion. It was still dark, and the clock on the wall showed a few minutes past four in the morning.Elias stepped out of the car, looking tired after the long journey. He had barely slept during the flight, and the moment Mathew informed him about Eve's meeting with Ava, he had changed his plans and returned home immediately. He needed to see his wife.to explain himself before the doubts growing in her mind turned into something worse.Elias entered the mansion quietly, expecting everyone to be asleep. However, as he walked toward the staircase, he noticed a faint light coming from the living room.He frowned.Who was still awake at this hour?He followed the light and stopped at the entrance.Ava was sitting on the couch, her legs tucked beneath her. Her phone rested on the table, but she wasn't looking at it. Instead, she stared blankly at the window, lost in thought. She had been awake for hours.Ever s

Ava stared at the address on her phone. She had been sitting in her car for several minutes without starting the engine. Her mind was filled with questions about the mysterious caller.Ava looked at the message again.*Come if you want to know the truth about Elias."She frowned.Elias had never told her much about his past.Even though their relationship had changed recently, there were still many things she didn't know about him. She only knew about his grandfather and his best friend, but no one else .But when it came to his past, Elias always seemed to avoid the subject."Should I really go?" Ava sighed and rested her head against the seat.Part of her told her to forget about the whole thing. The woman could be lying and could be trying to cause trouble between her and Elias. But another part of Ava desperately wanted answers especially after the woman's words about Elias past. What could possibly be so important about it?Ava looked at the address one more time. After a long hesitat

Over the next few days, Ava began noticing some changes in Elias. The coldness she had become used to was slowly disappearing, replaced by small gestures that caught her off guard. One morning, she woke up to find a beautiful bouquet of flowers beside her bed.Another day, a small box was waiting for her at breakfast. When she opened it, she found an elegant bracelet inside."Elias," she called"What?" He looked up from his phone."What's this?""A gift.""For what?""Do I need a reason?" He shrugged.Ava couldn't stop herself from smiling. It wasn't only the gifts,Elias started doing little things for her.He would make sure her favorite drink was waiting for her when she returned from work. He sometimes called during the day simply to ask how her day was going. If they were both home, he would find an excuse to sit with her instead of disappearing into his study.Slowly, they began spending more time together. They talked during meals, watched movies together.Sometimes they simply s
