LOGINDaphne's POV
I couldn't stop staring at his closed eyes as I was eagerly waiting to see him open them.
He unexpectedly collapsed yesterday at the restaurant which appeared strange.
I wonder what the reason for his depression is?
Perhaps, it has a connection with his present state.
I scoffed as I think he looks too good to be a depressed man.
Who ever thought Alex, my childhood crush will be the one who needs a therapist today.
Gosh! I could stare at him all day.
He was always every girl's dream back in highschool. The hottest boy in school.
Eventually, he was interested in only one girl, Emilia. The school nerd.
Unfortunately, they broke up before graduation, how badly it ended.
I never saw him since then.
"Hmm!" I heard him groan gently.
He suddenly blinked his eyes open gently, while I shut mine quickly in a pretence to be asleep. My head laid on the bed where he was.
His weak eyes ravelled over the room.
He seemed shocked to find himself in a hospital.
He groaned and sat upright on the bed.
I felt his hand tap me softly, but I it. Just to convince him that I was truly asleep.
He tapped me again and muttered the word "wake up".
I mumbled, stretching my body with a yawn to show how stressed I am.
"What happened?" he asked me while he took a brief look at himself.
"You fainted yesterday" I broke the news.
" Don't worry, it's nothing serious. The doctor said it was probably as a result of stress" I informed him.
"So, how are you feeling?" I made my concern visible to him.
He took a glimpse at me and then looked away.
Gosh! He should have just said thank you. I rolled my eyes and folded my hands.
This is the man I was worried for all through the night. I barely blinked my eyes, watching him all night.
I stood up from the chair and began walking away.
"Where are you going?" He asked.
"To get a job." I announced without stopping or looking back.
"You're hired!" His words suddenly stopped my action.

It was a silent long drive, all the way to his house.
The doctor had discharge Alex with a warning, that he avoids stressful tasks.
I bet the man Alex is a stubborn one, because he irked at the doctor's warning.
How I'm I supposed to pose as his therapist then?
I hope I won't strangle him to death sooner.
He appears to be focused on the steering wheel, he didn't even take a glimpse at me.
I wonder if he even remembers me from childhood days?
We were also neighbors back in the days you know.
I couldn't stop biting my lips and imagining, how on earth I still have a crush on him?
It's definitely not my fault, he grew more handsome.
Blue eyes, beard, shimmering lips and a cool hair that was dressed neatly. It's not bad to admire him a little is it?
Does he find me attractive? I suddenly got stuck up with the question in my mind.
Most guys would take several glance at me and even remark my beautiful eyes.
But him, he totally looks less interested in admiring a beautiful girl.
I relaxed my elbow on the opened window of the car and relaxed my head upon my bend arm.
I was bored and wanted us to get to his house sooner.
He tuned on the music and zoomed on with his drive.
The car made a snort as it came to a stop in the garage.
I heaved a sigh of relief as it was all I was waiting for.
To get out of the boredom of sitting in a quiet space.
I got out of the car, few seconds after Alex did, so I don't look to anxious.
My eyes widened at the enormous mansion that stood before me.
It seemed to be the largest building in the street.
There's no doubt that my client is an excessively rich dude.
I smiled mischievously as I thought of ripping him off his wealth. The thought just kind of came to me.
Numerous thoughts just kept flooding my mind, thoughts of the much money I could possibly gain from him.
I flung my hair backwards and paced gently behind him.
We got to the front of the door, and then he got the door's key from his pocket.
He got the door opened, and I walked in after him.
As I got into the house, my eyes widened, and my mouth part open a little.
Goodness! The interior is even more remarkable.
We're in his spacious living room.
It walls were flooded with white paint and at angles of the wall had beautiful nature paintings.
The cushions were curved and appeared soft.
There stood a centre table made of glass. On it were empty bottles of beer and packs of empty snacks.
Beverage cans were also found lying around the living room like it was a trash can.
It was in a total mess.
I turned gently to look at him, as I was disappointed at his dirty mansion.
With all his luxury, he couldn't even get a housekeeper to look after the house.
I avoided looking at the mess any further and continued with the admiration I was giving to the mansion.
A bar bearing alcohols and wines hung at the corner of the wall in the sitting room.
I still can't believe, he lives alone in this gigantic house.
"This way" he beckoned to me and walked away from the living room.
I paced quickly behind him to fill the distance between us.
I followed suit as he wanted me to, and we began climbing up the stairs that led up.
We arrived at a hallway where four room doors were located.
The doors stood opposite to each other.
"The first door by the left is your room. Get a shower and make your breakfast downstairs" he said with a cold voice and walked into the room opposite mine.
I was lost for a moment, just standing there and watching the closed door.
I exhaled deeply and walked into the room that was appointed as mine.
It was a large and well furnished room. I love it.
I walked to the bed and climbed upon the bed to feel if its soft.
Luckily for me, it was a soft and comfortable bed, just as I like it.
"Huh!" I heaved a sigh of relief and sat on the bed as I heard my phone beeped a call.
I located the phone and answered the call.
I placed it on my ear to receive the voice of the caller.
"Hello mam! I'm in" I informed the caller.
"Good! Daphne, remember, you have 30 days to eliminate him. Don't let me down" the caller reminded me of our contract.
"Yes mam, I won't fail you. He'd be dead sooner than you expect" I gave my reply and she ended the call immediately.
ALEX'S POVThe house was quiet when I walked in. I found Daphne in the kitchen, her back to me, phone pressed against her ear. Her voice was low, urgent."—can't keep doing this. You need to tell me the truth. I deserve to know what's really going on." She whispered to the person at the other end of the call.It was her business and I had no right to butt in but I had this sickening feeling in my guts that it had to do with me.Trust me, my intuitions never lie.She must have heard my footsteps because she spun around, her eyes going wide and she looked guilty."I have to go," she said quickly and ended the call then she tucked the phone into her pocket."Why do you look scared?" I asked, while loosening my tie."I don't—I'm not—" She began to stutter which heightened my suspicions. Daphne never stuttered. "You're home early.""Who was that?""No one,” She had this fake smile plastered on hrt facr. “It was just a friend who you know was checking in. Why?"I wanted to push, but I didn'
ALEX'S POVThe moment I was sure that Daphne was gone after she'd closed the door, I grabbed my phone and dialed Levi.I'd sent him on an errand and he wasn't supposed to be back nor was I supposed to call until an hour later, but this was injury time and I couldn't stall for long. He picked up on the second ring. "Boss?""Leave whatever you're doing and go over to Lindsay's house, now.” "Why? What's going on?" He inquired."Lindsay didn't show up for work. No call, no text, nothing. That's not like her." I replied. I feel like something has happened to her. There was a pause. Levi knew what I wasn't telling him. People who disappeared without a trace—if they were related to me were usually already dead."I'm on it," he said, and the line went dead.I stood up and started pacing. The death threat email was still open on my laptop, mocking me while there was nothing I could do. I had tried to trace it using every program that my tech guy Marcus had provided me with but I met a wall.
Alex's PovAs a man who studied people carefully before letting them anywhere near me, I could tell that Daphne was lying through her teeth. How did I know that?If she was being dishonest, she'd always stutter and would find it very hard to always maintain eye contact, so ....when she said that she didn't hear shit, I knew she was lying.“What are you doing here?” I demanded and she held up a food bag to my face.“I brought you breakfast.” She replied.“Why?”“The driver wasn't home so I decided to bring it to you, myself.” Daphne replied.“My apologies if I offended you in any way.”“That's not an excuse for you to show up at my office unannounced,” I retorted. “You could have waited for him to return.”“The food would be cold and it would be way past breakfast time by the time he'd return.” Classic Daphne always had an answer for whatever question you threw at her. Intriguing if I may say so myself.I walked back to my desk, took a seat and beckoned her to step forward which she d
Daphne's POV The moment the front door closed, I let out a deep breath. For a second there, I thought Alex was going to remember what had happened last night. “You really have to be careful,” I said to myself as I took my sit to eat breakfast. He'd not even bothered to even stick around to eat the meal I'd taken time to pre—The abrupt ring of my phone cut off my tirade of thoughts. One look at the screen and my entire mood and morning was ruined. Tiana was calling, why?Preparing myself for her tongue-lashing, I picked up the phone, tucking it between my chin and shoulder as I packaged Alex's food.“Why did it take you so long before you answered my call?” Tiana demanded in her annoying birdlike voice that itches one part of my brain.“Good morning Miss Tiana,” I greeted. “I was busy with breakfast.”“Breakfast?” She asked.“Did you make breakfast for Alex or it's for yourself?” I'd be stupid if I told her I'd made breakfast for Alex.If she had her way, she'd slap me through the p
Alex's PovDrinking yourself to stupor the night before work was definitely a bad idea.I sat up in bed, holding my head in my hand like Uefa had decided to have their matches in my head.Hold up, I pushed the covers back and I stared down at my half naked self.Daphne, that lady had guts, I had to give her that. She was the only one who could do something like that. At least she had the decency not to take off my trousers. The door creaked open and Daphne poked her head into the room.“Good morning Mr. Alex, may I come in?” She asked.“You're halfway in,” I muttered while pressing my fingers to my temple.“What do you want so early in the morning?”She did come in, in her hand was a tray with a plate that was covered which she set on the bedside drawer. "How do you feel?""Why do you care?" The headache seemed to increase with every word I uttered.“You drank yourself to stupor last night so I brought you this.” She uncovered what she had in the tray and the foul smell of garlic , or
Daphne's POV She told me he had pushed her off a cruise ship after a successful operation. She made it clear that he was in his senses when he did it.He must have been blinded by his greed for money.Did he even think twice that it was his wife?He just---It's really a mean thing to be selfish, I think he really deserves death.Yes he does, and I will be the poison chalice to fulfill that. He's a lunatic who can't control his lust.If he couldn't control his desires now, it means they were other women in his life after his wife.Too bad for him because she survived."What are you doing Mr. Alex?" I called his attention as I noticed his lips were drawing closer to mine.He pulled back immediately and began coughing insincerely. He let go of my waist and pushed me off from himself."Do not do that again" he menaced and pulled his seat backward.I collected some strands of hair from my face and directed it behind my head to rest at my back.I heaved a sigh of relief and went back to s
