Chapter 6: Lustful fool

"Sigh, I don't know why I was disqualified. I mean, I did my best, I was even better than some of the people that were qualified." Mirabel said with her head lowered.

Currently, she and Oliver were taking a night stroll back to her house after dropping at the bus stop. Oliver couldn't help but feel a sense of guilt for shattering this young girl's dream but he just couldn't help it, to have her he must make sure his plan goes according to order.

"Hey, Mimi. You don't have to be sad, guess what? My high school friend is currently about to open one of the biggest entertainment industries and I already send a short video clip of you singing and you know what?" Oliver paused as he asked her with smugness on his face.

"What? Please tell me?" Mirabel asked curiously as her heart skipped a bit.

"He said that you have a lot of potential, and if you keep up this level of skill after signing with them, it shouldn't be hard for you to become the face of the company," Oliver said, his eyes twinkling with pride. "Isn't that great?"

Mirabel could hardly believe what she was hearing. It was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and the thought of it was almost overwhelming, she even forgot to continue walking and stood still from shock which amused Oliver, but when he remembered her poor condition he could understand her point of thought.

This was a turning point for her. Looking at the petite girl in a simple white gown reaching her knees, Oliver could already picture her in different dresses in the future as an actress.

"Oli," Mirabel called out suddenly, her change in addressing Oliver catching his attention. As he looked into her watery eyes, a sense of calm enveloped him. "Thank you. Thank you for all your help. I truly don't know how to repay you for everything," she expressed from the depths of her heart.

"It's simple, marry me?" He blurted out before he could even think. Even Mirabel blushed from shyness as she bent her head and looked downward to avoid eye contact.

'Why do I always get this butterfly effect whenever I stare at his eyes? Is this love? But I haven't known him for more than a day' She thought.

"Okay, should we go buy some road snacks or stand here all day? Trust me I wouldn't mind looking at this gorgeous lady all day." Oliver asked with a wink, forcing Mirabel to once again look away as her cheeks turned red from blushing.

As they walked down the street, Oliver suddenly stopped and turned to Mirabel. "Wait a minute," he said. "Have you eaten yet?"

Mirabel was taken aback by the question. She and Oliver had only known each other for a day, so it was a little strange that he was asking about her eating habits. But she decided to answer honestly. "No, I haven't," she said. "But I'm not hungry, so don't worry about it."

"Take a sit here, I'm coming." Oliver gestured towards a seat by the roadside, not waiting for her response he crossed over to the other side into a supermarket.

===

"Why does she insist on stressing herself out? She's already earned it, so why doesn't she take care of herself?" Oliver pondered as he placed an order for pizza, pretzels, doughnuts, and soft nonalcoholic drinks.

"I need to ask her some questions, get to know her better, but how? How can I get her to open up to me?" He contemplated while waiting for the supermarket receptionist to pack his orders into a nylon bag. Finally, after some minutes, he took his orders and paid $11 then stepped out, heading back towards Mirabel who was sitting at the street chair but what he saw next left him feeling intense jealousy and anger.

===

While Mirabel was waiting for the kind Oliver to return, she couldn't help but think of how the money she earned wasn't enough to settle that loan shark and she didn't even have enough to buy her food. The stress was too much for a nineteen-year-old girl like her that she felt like crying.

Suddenly a Mercedes C300 which originally was passing her suddenly paused and then revised back.

Feeling curious, Mirabel watched as a young man dressed in a black hoodie, baggy trousers and a pair of sneakers. With a puff of smoke from the cigarette in his hand, the man boldly looked at Mirabel with a lustful gaze and let out arrogantly, "Hey bitch, how much for a night?"

*Gasp!* Mirabel gasped at being addressed in such a vulgar way, tears suddenly spilt out from her eyes after feeling those humiliating looks washing over her virgin body.

"Tsk, don't pretend to be a saint, it's midnight for crying out loud and no saint will wander around by this time. Come on hop in and go give me a nice fuck, I will pay you handsomely." He added, not minding how teary Mirabel currently looks.

"Call my wife that B word and watch me break your skull."

Suddenly a cold chilling voice popped out from nowhere as Oliver with a nylon appeared before them.

Feeling a chilling, predatory gaze at him, the young man turned and looked at Oliver with equal arrogance. "Wow, I didn't know she was married. My bad, but, Gotta go then and oh, anytime you feel like cheating on your husband, you can find me in Vanilla Street, house J21."

Saying so, the man opened his car door and was about to hop in when he suddenly felt a grip on his hoodie which pulled him back.

"Apologize to my wife," Oliver said coldly, at that moment he felt like something had snapped inside him which sent him over the edge, the last time he felt so was when his father died from a gunshot and now it was seeing his wife, a woman he swore to protect being humiliated by a street hooligan. Right at that moment he swore to beat the son of an ass to a pulp if he doesn't apologize.

"What you gonna do? Beat me? Wait, do you think because I wanna leave after hearing she's your wife gives you the audacity to hold my hoodie? Man, let go of me because I swear I will fuck your wife right in front of you if you..."

Bam!

Oliver didn't even let him complete his word as he sent a fist right at his face, knocking out his golden teeth and the cigarette in his mouth at the same time.

"Oliver please, sob, just let him go. You don't have to do this." Mirabel who finally got a grip on her emotions said in between sobbing.
