Chapter 6: You Stole From Him?

“How did you know that man? And you mentioned something about hitting his car with a stone. When did all that happen?” Father asked, and I rolled my eyes. So now he can speak out?

“His name is Xavier, and I met him at the club where Layla works; he is her boss. He somehow managed to spill dirty water on me that day. That was why I had to hit his car glass with a stone.” I replied with an eye roll.

“You shouldn’t have done that, Jade. Do you have any idea who that man is?”

“I don’t care who he is, and I am not about to stand here and listen to all your scolding and what not. How did you end up stealing five hundred thousand dollars from him? A whole five hundred thousand dollars, father??? How come? I know you are not a thief, so I am seriously amazed by this. And you better have a good explanation for it.” I said and went ahead to sit on one of the chairs, crossing my arms together and waiting for his explanation.

“I’m sorry, my daughter. Everything is a bit complicated, and I never thought he would ever find out I stole from him.” He sighed sadly.

“I don’t understand, father. What did you use such a large sum for, and how did you even end up stealing from him? I am still trying to understand this whole situation.” I said facepalming myself.

“My princess, you know during the early stages of your schooling when everything seemed like it came crashing down and you were on the verge of dropping out?” He asked and I nodded my head.

“During that period, I got a call from an old friend, and he said I could make five thousand dollars from selling drugs for his boss if I was down for it because I had earlier informed him about the hard times we were going through.”

“It was meant to be a one off thing and I knew it was wrong and never wanted to indulge myself in it, but things only kept getting worse, and I couldn’t even imagine you, my dear, dropping out of school, so I went ahead and accepted the offer of selling drugs for his mafia boss Xavier.”

“What did you just say, a mafia boss???” I asked as my eyes widened in shock, and he nodded his head.

What the hell was he even thinking for fuck sake?? Doesn’t he know how dangerous these people are?? My mind also drifted off to the fact that I had previously had a squabble with this young man, not knowing he was a mafia boss.

But wait a minute—a mafia boss, and he looks that young and good-looking? I mean, he was so dreamy.

“ So when we went and everything was done, we got our pay from one of his boys as we weren’t dealing with him directly. But the thing was that something happened, and my friend and I stumbled upon a lot of cash in his warehouse, and since there was no one around plus we didn’t find any cameras, we decided to steal as much as possible. I only found out it was up to five hundred thousand dollars when I got home, and I haven’t indulged in anything fraudulent since then. I am very sorry, my daughter.” He apologized.

Now I get it; one minute everything was so difficult for us, and the next minute he had cleared my tuition f*e and given me more than enough for my expenses. But what did he use the rest of the money for???

“You might be thinking, What did I use the rest of the money to do? Everything your schooling cost was up to $350k, and I used fifty thousand dollars from it to pay off some of our debts. The remaining money was kept safe in a trust fund for you. I didn’t know how best to tell you about such an amount of money, so I kept it hidden.” He said.

"Oh, Father, I didn’t know you had to do all these things for me. I’m so sorry that you had to go against your morals because you wanted to see me through school.” I said crying, and he came up to hug me while we cried in each other’s arms.

“So what do we do now? He seems dangerous; you saw it yourself; he brought ten men with him just to give us the warning. What is he going to do when he decides to come for his money? The stipulated time given is too short also.” I said, running my fingers through my hair.

“I don’t know, my dear. But you being his pet is certainly not an option. Do you know what that means? He would turn you into his sex slave or a plaything he comes to hit whenever he wants to let off steam. I sincerely do not want that kind of life for you, and I am sorry I dragged you into this mess in the first place.” He apologized.

“It’s okay, father. After all, I am the reason why you stole the money in the first place. What about the remaining money you kept in a trust fund for me, so we can add up to the $100k and bear in mind we are running around for the remaining four hundred thousand dollars?” I said, looking at him intently, but he refused to say a word.

“Father?” I nudged him.

“The thing is, you can only have access to the money next year when you turn twenty-four.” He revealed, surprising me.

“What??? But I just turned twenty-three last month. We can’t wait almost a year for it. He gave us from now till next weekend. How are we going to raise such an amount of money??” I asked in terror.

“I’m so sorry, my daughter. I never wished for this to happen.” He pleaded.

I didn’t know what to do now. I knew my father had only good intentions, but now we were in such a mess. I also can never give up myself to be his pet for a year. That man is a pervert. Imagine being a pet to someone who can stoop so low to have sex in a toilet. The hell, that was a big no for me. But what can I do???

Suddenly an idea came to my head, and I smiled.

“Don’t worry, Father, we will get the money before next weekend,” I assured him.
