Chapter 1: Let’s Get Started

“I’ve told you not to call me any longer. I still can't get over what you did last time. You broke my trust, and I’m not willing to speak to you anymore.” I said before dropping the call.

Phew, why wouldn’t he just stop calling me? Well, Martin was my first boyfriend. Yes, my first boyfriend. Although I was 23, I never bothered myself with relationships or anything of the sort. My only goal was to find my mother and excel in my job.

My name is Jade Williams, a 23-year-old who lives alone with her single dad. My dad has been single for as long as I can remember, and whenever I ask about my mom, he gets tense and then angry.

I have no idea what might have transpired amongst them, and he wasn’t willing to tell me either. I have been longing to meet my mother since to ask her why she abandoned me. However, I also secretly longed for her affection, and that was the reason I was going to look for her when I finally got the resources.

I just came back a month ago to the United States from Germany, where I went to study. And then I met Martin at my best friend’s birthday party. He was very good-looking, manly, sweet, and funny too, if I may add. So when he made a move on me, I decided to give him a chance.

We started our relationship, and although I wasn’t in love with him yet, I started liking him and eventually got used to him. We spoke long hours on the phone every day and went out on dates regularly.

Even though I didn’t love him, I loved the idea of being in a relationship, especially since I was 23 now, and yet still couldn’t boast of a man to call my own.

The relationship was going smoothly until he recently started complaining about me not kissing him and doing things couples in relationships normally do. The thing was that even though I liked him, I didn’t feel comfortable kissing him or doing all that stuff yet.

I have been keeping my virginity intact for the longest time, and the idea of discarding it so easily always irked me. I wanted to lose it to a man I love, and I wasn’t in love with him yet.

It was not like I had not made this clear; he knows, yet he still insists and tries to pressure me into giving in to his advances, and I honestly do not like that. I managed to peck him the other day, but I couldn’t bring myself to do anything further.

Last week, I went to visit him, and he purposely tried to get me drunk, and when I wouldn’t drink, he began trying to force himself on me. I struggled and struggled, and thanks to my skills, I was able to break free from him.

I broke up with him that same day and warned him thoroughly never to call me anymore. He later called and began to apologize, saying that it was the effect of the alcohol, but I knew damn well it wasn’t.

I didn’t want to continue the relationship again because the chances of him trying to rape me again were still very high, and I didn’t want that, so I warned him to stop calling, yet he keeps pestering me.

I have blocked countless numbers from him, but he still manages to call me every time with a new one.

Well, for me, I was certainly done with him. Maybe love isn’t for me after all. And why the hell can’t people enjoy each other's company without wanting to put things into each other for fucks sake?

I stood up from the bed and stretched my hands and legs, getting ready to leave for my mission.

“Damn it,” I said, frustrated, as I scattered through my closet. I was looking for something that I would be comfortable in but still look glamorous.

This mission required it, and I needed to nail this one. Carrying out this mission successfully would land me the big paycheck I need to look for my mother and better the lives of both my father and me.

“Oops,” I said as something fell from my closet on my foot.

I bent down to pick it up and realized it was a necklace. It had gotten a lot older than it used to be. It was a special necklace given to me by a young boy 16 years ago, and since then, for some odd reason, I have decided to keep it.

I wear it wherever I go and only abandoned it when I was about to travel to Germany for my studies, as I thought it was something irrelevant and childish. I admired it a little, dusted it, and kept it in place.

“Finally,” I yelled as I finally saw something befitting to wear. I wore my black pants, paired with a white tee and some black shoes. I put on my cap and shades and then proceeded to reach out for my drawer.

I put my gun and taser in my backpack and made to leave the house. If everything goes well, as I have mapped out, I’ll have enough to find my mother and take care of my father.

"Hello, CO, tell Valla to stand in sight. I’m heading to the premises now.” I dropped in a voicemail.

“Pheww.” Now let’s get shit started.
