Maya’s POV

Alexander and I walked in silence to the hall where the reception was already in full swing. The soft music and chatters of the guests could be heard as we got closer and closer to the hall.

“You ready?” Alexander asked in a warm yet firm voice and I was surprised he was talking to me without me trying or initiating that conversation.

“Yes. Let’s do this,” I replied him as I braced myself for the night and willed myself to enjoy everything for once.

When we walked into the hall, I lost my breath yet again. I was beginning to think that Alexander and his mother wanted me dead with how much I was losing my breath due to their efforts in putting everything together- everything was just so marvelous and arranged to perfection.

The reception was decorated in flowers- different roses that smelled as beautiful as they looked and I knew immediately that they were fresh flowers, they must have cost a lot. I let out a sigh out how beautiful and dreamy it looked.
