-Evangeline-

The weeks that followed settled into something that almost felt like ordinary life.

Almost.

Theodore still left early most mornings, but he no longer disappeared into work for sixteen-hour stretches. He came home for dinner more often than not. Sometimes he would find me in the kitchen and pull me against him from behind, pressing a kiss to the side of my neck while Arnold pretended not to notice. Other nights he would arrive late, tie already loosened, and simply sit beside me on

Lucien barley gave me the time to change out of my nightgown, hell I’d barely finish shoving some of the necessaries I’d need into my bag while explaining to my parents and sister who were against the whole idea before he stormed into the room, carried me over his shoulder like a bag of potatoes and threw me into the car. He didn’t even give me chance to say goodbye.“Don’t look so somber little flame.” His voice reached my ears as the car rolled out of the driveway of my home. “Our pack is far better than this dump, but I’m sure that’s something you already know.”“Asshole.” I seethed under my breath.“If you’re going to say something, you should be loud and clear, no mate of mine should be mumbling.” He taunted but I ignored him, he was trying to get under my skin, but I wasn’t going to allow it.Instead, I let a cold silence settle between us as I stared out the window and watched as my pack lands blurred past the tinted windows, I was trying h

The first thing I heard was the sound of marching or whatever that was, there were dozens of boots, heavy and urgent stomping against the floor, tearing me out of my peaceful slumber like a hand dragging me from deep water.Alongside the stomping, I heard a faint voice shouting commands and it was then my eyes snapped open, well that and my wolf restlessly stirring beneath my skin were what made me realize I wasn’t dreaming or hearing things, something was going on, and it wasn’t small—were we at war again?I didn’t give myself the chance to answer the question before my feet swung off the bed hitting the cold floor causing a chill to climb up my spine and sharpen my senses as the silk sheets slinging down my legs. The moonlight filtered through the curtains casting shadows across my room as I reached for the robe hanging over my chair and I pulled it on quickly over my silk nightgown. The fabric brushed softly against my thighs as I quickly moved towards the door not bothering to tie

I woke up slowly, but it felt like someone was dragging me out of deep, dark water. My eyelids felt heavy, my head was pounding and the soft light pressing against them before I even opened my eyes made it worse, hell even breathing hurt. Before I could even open my eyes, the first thing I noticed was the quiet, there was no dripping water or sound of the trees brushing against the small amount of window. For one confused second I thought maybe everything had been a nightmare and I was still locked in the tower but then the sheets brushing against my skin, they were cool and smooth, nothing like the one in what had been my bed for months, or the rough stone of the cave. The cave……At the thought of the last surface I felt before everything went cold, my eyes snapped open, and I regretted it immediately. The final moments before I passed out hit me like a wave, but that wasn’t even the worst part…..the worst and scary part was that the same huge black wol

My chest ached so hard I almost couldn’t breathe as I stared out the small prison like window of the tower I’d been locked in for so many weeks I’d had lost count after the fifth, it was impossible to keep track with everything alpha Jax had put me through.. My eyes zeroed onto the man that was supposed to be my mate walking hand in hand with his Luna, with almost every few steps he leaned down and said something that made her laugh making my blood boil as memories of his rejection flooded my mind. “Jax please, you can’t do this to me.” I begged clinging tightly onto his leg as though my sharp nails digging into the fabric of his pants would change a thing. “I’m you’re mate, we’re meant to be together.”“Meant to be together?” He repeated, the words rolling off his tongue with distaste. “You’re a witch, I’m an alpha, we were never meant to be together, this was a mistake.”“But you said-”“Forget anything I said, you will never stand beside me in pu

My blood boiled when I found out what had happened with one of our various sources of income, and it only became worse when I found out I was transferring schools because of it. I already hated going to school and learning in general, the only thing that made it bearable was the mechanisms I’d put it place to make it tolerable, and it took quite a long time for me to do it. I’d tried reasoning with dedushka to just let me stay and we’d figure out another way to fix things on that end, but it was pointless and a shear waste of my time because yesterday, he and his wife, my beautiful babushka happily finished the last process of enrolling me into Keystone memorial, and before I could take everything in, I was put in a uniform. “How was your first day?” Dedushka asked as I walked through the main lounge. “I don’t know, you tell me how you think it went.” I retorted my voice void of any emotions. “Rebenok,” Babushka sighed walking into the room with a cup of what I assumed w

My legs ached. My lungs burned. Every step felt heavier than the last.I’d been on the run for days, maybe weeks even—it was hard to tell anymore, time blurred together when all you did was hide and move, sleep in ditches and steal scraps to survive. My body had been screaming for rest but I still forced myself forward, witches weren’t even meant to last this long on the road, not without a circle, not without magic to lean on and yes I was determined to get as far away from my coven as possible at all and any cost, but even determination had limits, and mine were fraying. After another hour of walking on sore feet, I slowed and leaned against a tree to calm my ragged breathing. I was beyond exhausted and needed to rest otherwise my body was going to give in on me. “Elara, oh Elara.” I groaned mentally kicking myself for not being strong enough to keep going for just a few more miles. “But then again, rest is essential, I have come a long way already.” I stated

My pulse thundered under my skin matching the rhythm of the loud music playing. I hadn’t done this in forever, hell even when I was still single and free, I’d only danced against strangers twice in my life, and even then it felt wrong, but for some reason dancing against this tall handsome British

My stomach churned with disgust as the sounds I’d heard coming from the other end of the door echoed in my ears like they’d been connected to a loud speaker. I couldn’t believe it, that asshole had the audacity to cheat on me after everything I’d given up on him, and worst of all, he brought his mi

I tried to stop myself from shaking as I stared at my reflection in the private bathroom one of the waitresses had lead me to after a heated exchange with my father and former in-laws. The conversation replayed in my head, loud and clear.“You know, I didn’t believe it when I heard it.” My father s

It’d been hours since I run away but the memory of the phantom pressure of Lucas’ fingers against my throat was still etched into my skin. I sat on the edge of the plush bed in Marcus’s house, my hands trembling so violently that the tea in the china cup rattled against the sauc
